And you go, yeah, yeah, yeah. But like sometimes there's a statement that I find very profound. Why don't you get educated, double Hitler? And it turns in as like any forum you were ever on when you were a young person, it just suddenly turns into this turf war with all the usual characters yelling at each other about how everybody else is doing it wrong and it suddenly becomes this very heated thing. So anybody could get mad at you for different reasons. There's no way to say to people, well, there is a phenomenon that accounts, the only phenomenon we can't find that accounts for this, whether this is Havana syndrome or having ticks and unexpected Tourette's across mostly girls at one high school in this town.

You don't have confirmation bias. The thing is the documentary directors are so well known amongst people that today it's very difficult not to do a documentary unless, unless, unless you bring in what I call a proxy director. Mm-hmm. And all I care about for the purposes of me doing this this particular project is I want it to have a feeling similar to how my dreams in this case feel. I think I said something like uh blah blah blah, you know, a girl. What were you gonna say though? It's not in the iMovie. For example, the ones that tend to not turn out great are the ones that are so heavily based on a feeling of mine. It's gonna go in the oh nope when in the other oh there's a new hole. Like during takeoff and landing, it's so high pitched and like keeps getting louder and higher.

Oh, can I can I also make a suggestion to you and to the audience maybe that's just a fun thing to do? And if you remember like the kind of morphing effects of the Michael Jackson video back in the day, well, this will do something similar. It's just ooh, it's a bad movie. about the Beatles who went to New College, but just for a baseline, you say you're not a Beatles expert the way I say I'm not a Pokemon expert, in that I think you know more than uh uh 99% of the people who listen to this show. And what I v eventually realized, I'm sorry that took so long to say, it's not even a very good example, but here's what I realized. Oh my god, I got bumped from my flight. Do you understand what I'm saying?

Okay, I'll try and wrap this up. I but I agree with you and people push back so hard on that where you're like, No, I'm not gonna get a flu shot right now 'cause I need to be I need to be at what's of what's currently available to be my best for two weeks. uh if you go down a level is cognitive bias. Oh, look at this. That's a true. Dig jug. You know, things are not going well. Sh yes, I do. Well, and also because I am cheating on so many levels with this. from whatever somebody considers reality. But I've I've adapted that in these to be to produce the the sort of visual uh existential feeling that I want. It isn't just like like scary violin music or something or box, toccata, and fugue. I'll be a good b I'm good today.

What's his name? Well yeah but more but he's in born. Make a little movie. Unlike all the other people in my life Early for a Jasper. Yeah. Well, that's one of the like the properties you learn in arithmetic when you're like, you know, f like ten. Until you really think on it. Do you want to talk about this? where it's so clearly written by two different people, where the verses are written by one person and the bridge has been written by another. Where where some I I said something about Jeff Emmerich and said, No, it's actually Mal Evans or it's ex it's actually Nell Espinall. I love the books that call I have a book that collects, you know, the best information we can find on who wrote which parts of which songs, et cetera, et cetera.

Bada mm bada do ba da mm ba do ba do ba ba ba ba ba bum ba by the way Paul Paul's the one mainly doing the qua string. Unless and until you have addressed every other conceivable thing that somebody could think of related to that, did you know That John Lennon actually left Yoko for a while and was running around I think when it was May Ping, that he had an affair and was really drunk for a while. And it looks fine. Because I still haven't gotten to the explaining part. Because they don't particularly like things that have been that that Quentin Tarantino has done. Where no matter what you said, somebody interpreted it as being something about Trump. But like the kind of person who would go, yeah or just as even as dumb as, you know, somebody sort of credulously saying, That's what she said.

It doesn't really you know, it's just kind of a thing you can say about anything. But like the role that language has in how we think about the world becomes important. So what? If you're a Northern Cal California mom, you have so many ways of admonishing other people about what they're doing wrong. And like, I don't know, that's just what it feels like sometimes. Harvey Weinstein necessarily, but like it's difficult. And I need to remember that not everything is everything. that overbearing feeling, that burden, the weight of having to think about how somebody is gonna turn whatever one thing is into something else. I l I don't want to call them anti-vaxxers, but let's say people who are skeptical of uh vaccines.

who were just on the left and uh people like me were like, yeah, yeah, put the 5G in. almost like ant trails, you end up unintentionally joining up with other people on the the point of agreement that you have kind of well in suddenly suspicious about a range of public health issues. You know, I'm not gonna get into the silly like Bill Gates put 5G in a needle stuff, but what whatever it is, you've got your reasons and you find common cause with someone else. Um a doctor few doctors have told me that and I'm like, I don't know, alright, sure, I'll go with you. It would be more maybe it's would be more of an event for me than it would be for you. from like Star Wars opinions to like deeply held controversial political uh uh th things.

The thing is, I've a point that I think is fairly incontrovertible is nobody likes being told that whether it's IBS or whether it's uh chronic fatigue. My daughter is my, you know, in this case, these kids are acting very, very oddly. Occam's razor, we've tried to eliminate every other thing that it can be. To it's we know that there's a thing and but the ideology for that is not a physical thing necessarily. There was especially this one city, this one high school where people seem to be having girls in particular at this high school were having Yes. Yeah, so and this is, you know, a multi-part series about like what what it was and what it might be and like looking at the different angles. And in the case of something like Love Canal, which is very much on the minds of these people, you start looking around, you go like, hey, how is everybody here not dying?

Cognitive bias or like an inappropri or inappropriate or incomplete like heuristic that has become so uh you know uh or or uh what do they else they call it in psych um chunking, a kind of chunking or heuristic. errors. I would think of cognitive errors as something that results in part out of cognitive bias. uh cognitive like biases like inside that. But then you get all these heuristics that come out of these cognitive biases. Is there a chance that it doesn't actually happen as much? And then if I find something no, it's very scientific in a lot of ways, in in the true sense of the word, and then saying, well, if there's something that comes up that makes me realize that this is not correct.

I have to amend my view. Somewhere out there, there's a really good wiki that that collects all this in one place. In a way that confirms one's preconceptions, etc. something along the lines, if you think if you think you're immune to unintentional cognitive bias, read this sentence over and over. I bet if you ask almost anybody, you get the Lake Wibigan effect, where like everybody would say I am above average at that, and almost everybody I know is like below average of that. at not having cognitive biases and being aware of it. And not only that, but then so it's not it's not like it's saying, hey, do you want your camera on? Which is a terrific merchant hivering movie. D do should we start completely over?

I have to manually turn off my camera every time or it records me. Alex, what do you what do you think it means? Generally it's just the uh just the the smell of my uh of my hopefully the smell of my deodorant and not my actual personal uh gift thank you you you get to bond with your lizard friend and uh you also don't you can go ten days without changing a shirt. I d I'm not sure, but I I saw uh this bando cameo. next week. Like you're buying time for your brain to figure it is well what it is you're about to say and so you just you say things like s you say things like sidebar or or you say or you say you know I can tell that you're just kinda thinking a little bit and I I consider it I think it's I want to show you grace by saying thank you.

You still have that end of the week time, right? kind of you know, soda. Yeah. It's very sick. is is a uh and Pika are they're very, very similar. But like it's not I mean it's not a it's not even it's not a gosh upon. But you're inside the wall. All those things like tend do tend to come up a lot in my dreams. Try to find the places you can stitch them together. Duh or rh I I feel like it's almost a director's commentary sort of thing. Is cheating? uh at least readable. uh the stuff that you've made in Pika and uh not um like there there's a difference because they are different models and uh something that I haven't finished it yet, but that's that's exact you're putting it so well. So it is like you are using a c a tool with a completely different set of uh parts.

It did it best the best that it could with what I explained about beans. And it didn't really it didn't have the same I didn't no no I'm I'm trying to catch myself here 'cause I was about to say it got the beans wrong. on their own. Because as much as y you say you don't like talking about dreams, you talk about your dreams all the time and they're very interesting and you express them in interesting different ways. Yeah, so what I'd said, uh basically I'm just repeating myself, uh tools like these let you interact with the mall. It's kind of a show, maybe it's a show don't uh what what's the phrase? uh f um i like with these new models like sora pika wa whatever and there's there is though like a Merlin style which I think is very cool so cartoon just like Sully from Monsters Inc.

hyper-realistic, cinematic, cool color palette, detailed, intricate, right? And then all these little kids, these little girls start moving, and then they all suddenly run through the wall, except for one. I don't know. I already have a Castawarian hallway, la la la, but I need more hallways. But like it's an unresolved dissolve where you kind of keep seeing two things and your brain doesn't know what's foreground and what's and I was like, oh god, if I had more time, that's what I would be exploring. a couple episodes ago and was really freaked out by his hole. I've now got a way to integrate some of these other pieces. I added a sound that's very airport adjacent for me. It starts right around the time we're in a plane.

No no this I well specifically the the Yes the sound the sound because the first trip Yes, yes, yes. uh sound like in terms of audible ones where it's not quite a cacophony in the al although that's a fun word to say but just little bit bits just keep uh piling up and piling up and piling up I almost don't want to put it it is incredibly uh it's incredibly upsetting. But think about what happens if you give it two hallways. I'm gonna wear your skin, but my dad'll still be mean to me. Uh goals repress his homosexuality. Kevin Spacey and Netband. Us seeing if the microphones work, yeah. Will you not ask me questions? And not everything is everything. This is from pin tweet. Or this is this, or you say these kinds of things.

I I know it sounds insipid. Which is to talk down to people and say, I'm gonna now explain the bit or explain the joke. I, in addition to trying to, I may not seem like it, but like online I try to be po I try to assert something positive rather than just toss out things that are always negative. cool CDs with bonus tracks and they l you know they were farting around with finding old John Lennon songs they could all play on. I might well like lately I've been like I'm trying to think of an example that doesn't sound ridiculously pretentious. uh remember that I I don't know who the fifth beetle is and yeah that's why it's a that's why it's a difficult example for most people I think. Like I've always since I first heard it on one of the one of those collections, I think from the nineties of Outtakes.

It's sounds pretty different. Not just a different version of the vocals you know, but like the the tracks are different. Because they sound like they're having fun. You know, everybody was fighting. Oh m gre I make bad made forms. I cannot account for every conceivable point of view or other matter that people bring to that microscopic piece of information a little silly sometimes. around something or whatever the first thing that popped into their mind that is associated with that. Understand, I and like I know this is complicated. Trump has to be at the center of every conversation and like, oh boy, it's frustrating, but like I guess I'll keep doing that. including obviously things like semiotics and structuralism, like the idea of like what language, the role that language has in how we think about life.

If if you if you uh oh did you watch 30 rock, right? that is I still think about constantly. But it famously um a woman that was in our playgroup who was hilarious, a local woman in our playgroup, she had a blog called That Baby Needs Gloves. Oh, did you hear about what happened to his son? facts or points of view about that. And then that's its own thing. And I I the reason I like the idea of reading and thinking about that statement over and over, like like certain kinds of koans in this world, is that in the universe, but then there's another everything I think of as the range of all possible topics. I think sometimes that's challenging for us. But just a smaller c community. talking about the people who were in the discourse online who are fighting on Twitter.

U uh not inconsequential, but a small question and uh just a hesitation Like we you know, we thought about that where we were there was things where we were like, well, let's talk about the cost benefit and now what's the risk of this and is this you hear things, you know, because you hear things because you're a parent. Right. Is is my kid just gonna be sick for a couple weeks? people skeptical just uh about whether or not it's effective. when you really should be thinking of it more like concentric circles, like a target. about maybe an allied or unallied like series of other things and this ends up slightly falling under the aegis of that in their point of view. to be informative or entertaining or anything else.

Um and we don't know why you've got that, but you've but that's something that happens to people I who are like it's not that you imagined it But but because then, you know, again, now this is the iceberg again. It's difficult to say. pretty interesting series. I don't know. I think that's very related to this phenomenon we're discussing, right? It's like your personal, it's like your wallet or your set of keys. That has its reasons. And that's kind of like and again I'm not an expert, but like if you've got cognitive errors and how you think, one of the things that leads to that You don't tend to act, we don't, we do not tend in in our own, like most of us in our nature, to always go and seek out something that that um disconfirms something that we believe.

that it feels like that always happens because you tend to notice the exceptions rather than the rules. fucking insane. It says as the kids say, Oh, I get the ick. But it doesn't come the first time you read it and go blah blah blah. That means that in the set of this thing that we call everything, not all topics are related to all opinions, are related to all facts. It's okay to narrow your range. We'll tend to do that at the end, whether whatever kind of academics, whether that's pedagogical or whether that's through research, whatever it is, I I think you're better off to go, let's just assume all the way that like We're not as smart as we think, and we need to we need to bracket our assumptions about things in order to derive a p-value that makes any sense.

Just you can't just spray science sauce on something. We are looking for things that are replicatable, and we are looking for things that question or disprove things we thought were proven before. Yes that's true. What? AI text a video or similar, but whatever it is you want to do, just make a little movie. Uh no no no in in general, just the common I I suppose English lexicon uh Like i I carumba type things? I wouldn't be surprised. It it's oh yeah, the the really uh what I I thought to be good apps that uh filtered spam text and blocked calls suddenly uh became I and I'm not against Uh Merlin is a documentary subject now. for old people, I would be especially into it because I would love to be professionally stretched.

stalling for t not really stalling for time, but s spoilers did not do the challenge totally peanut buttered completely. Th when you were posting initially little clips of what what I think were like single. Okay, I'm interrupting you now. certain thing, let alone what your own brain did to lead you to this beautiful monstrosity that I can't stop watching. m uh movie making stuff, but it's a really great app for scanning uh LIDAR. And like we have a sponsor coming up for Roderick on the line that has the same name as Pika. To say I here's some words. uh um uh luma just added a new thing for you can manually add camera movements and stuff like that. That's what makes it a collaboration. It's really very, very different from that.

When the woman and the bird both pause and then walk away and you see there's a hall, there's darkness that they're gonna have to walk through, that's when I realized what the whole thing was about, at least in my head. to make something cool. thought that the bird would, you know, fade away in the in d that direction. So just so you know, um that one was done on and I think it's it's a relevant example. Because you know how weird it feels for your best friend's home to be their house, but not their house. Right? But more like, what do you think that looks like? w was kind of uncanny. And what was you what did you like better than Impossible? Fully know that fully except that everything isn't everything.

Whether it be I mean you mentioned that you are quote cheating by like rewriting the prompts a little bit. Cool Uh oh um real quick is this music like d that I can share with you. But you know, Scarlet Johnson Scarlett Johansson sits in an aquarium, she is bewildered and wearing unusual headgear. Um a military school for white child in the dream anyway. And then the airport is dissolving into Bando's ear or some. A-hole on band aid. And it's not just a in the years since there's lots of movies that have added like upsetting sounds to things that you know what I mean Especially over rumbling. It's very upsetting when they go into Bandas fold. For today that I haven't figured out yet. Um he keeps he keeps wheezing my juice.

Anytime Madeline and I have the misfortune to see a uh a plastic bag flying through the air, can you guess what each of us say at the same time we both go, that's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. Yes. Things that have helped me to be less of a piece of shit, and things that have helped me to have a broader understanding of other people, there are these things. And I I did I I genuinely sat and thought about it a long time. I think was one of his lines. And like anybody who considers themselves probably like a halfway smart person, I I tend to push back on on like insipid uh you know, sort of, God, I gotta learn the Greek term for this. Or are are are they two separate things? There is a co-on like quality that's somewhere between like wisdom and poetry, right?

Orcade, as I now know they're called, but I want to talk about the interesting everything is everywhere all at once In a way that is, I have to say, reminiscent of what I when I first learned about Zen, you know, where uh uh which at least in the stories from like like in the weeds personal experience and kind of move up and out from that. Like a really dumb headline. Because it says it says Jennifer Lopez files for divorce and then wears a white bathing suit on a boat. when you sh share a bit of a song that you often say 99% of the people who follow you Anytime you t uh I I I tend to want to talk about something that's pretty specific. Which is like it can get all the way, I mean, how do I even begin?

And, you know, I'm not like a Beatles expert by any stretch. by the Beatles, which I think is a wonderful example of what made that period in the Beatles so exciting for pe for me and I think for other people. Everything is not everything and not everything is everything. I there's so many levels to to to take this at. There's a I'm you know what? Uh before before you can be cake cake it's necessary to invent the universe, something like that. I I under I I find it interesting uh still that you uh were like, I'm gonna stop talking. Uh y I disagree. s switch places and suddenly I'm like, meh, feet! Right. There's a classic, like how does Schadenfreude became such a fum become such a famous word?

Laptop and going to like a mommy group? I'm sorry, what's a girl's bike? Is it possible for me to talk about a hard day's night? I don't know. And i i i th this it's oh god, it's almost like a reverse y chicken problem. And I very much uh I'm brave and bold and will say that yes, yeah, please vaccinate. skeptics before and just want it like they were really were I think just asking the question not the Facebook model everybody does that we do that yeah and I'm I'm just not people who were genuinely concerned and just wanted to know more information and that wasn't available and very quickly they became ostracized that doesn't always cause a problem, but sometimes does. Be not because it matters or it should be any sort of advice, but just that that small little difference of like, oh i it there will be people who it infuriates.

Or for that matter, more more gallons. Exactly. But it's not it it's not quite it's not quite as hollow and terrible as it's all in your head, but there's an element of that that it's not It's just absolutely incredible where people like, how is it that like so many kids that live in this strip, this one area, all have cancer? The CIA did this sh shit in the past, I bet the CI is doing this shit now, and people have polluted in the past. what what has come to what used to be called a mass hysteria. that you have no you don't may not realize like how you arrived at that. And like there's a personality-based reason why everybody that is bad does something bad. You ask any pull somebody off the street and say, do you think you have cognitive, for example, do you have cognitive biases that that make you more uniquely incapable of understanding the world?

You know what I mean? I mean, just the sloppiest base level hand job philosophy of like, well, blah blah blah is blah da blah. Uh oh one get a text from Casey about games. lists that I will try to find to fr for notes about things that uh just mm y you have a good uh word for just phrases we say that originated from the Simp Simpsons. subscriptions, obviously not everything is everything. Oh th you're just wasting content. Tony on the barbarian. I I have uh n I I th oh, cause see, I'm too excited. like issue by issue tend to be often occasionally sometimes the thing that I love about it. this stuff is, how like unintentionally weird and sketchy and improbable and sometimes impossible the things it creates are.

Um, a lot of people look, I understandably, look at that and go, well, all I wanted was you to recreate my wedding and have it look like us. It doesn't need to look like the thing that I said exactly. I did not say Carrie Mulgan, by the way. feel the need to say everything isn't everything when it comes to AI stuff because there are people who want to make another great example, another perfect example. This is my like big big example. that these create isn't just what uh like um it isn't it's it's not just like um a way Um and so basically I done the first one, I said something. That is I I like that much much better. and then figure out what the transitions are, not in one particular order, but in my case, hallways and airports and whiskers on kittens.

The part the reason people my my feeling is the reason people get so bored when other people were or frustrated or in some cases I had a professor who was like gravely terrified of people telling him their dreams. And my feel my uh my my feeling on that is it's because the dream is entirely about how it felt. it will never have the impact of how it felt to you. I uh the I think most people misunderstand about these AI models is like every single prompt it it does not influence it. It's I I think of it almost as like using a different screwdriver head or uh that that's a bad one, but if there's there's a whole Uh okay. Um, uh it would have a different feel, but then still kind of like you said, it was still very much a Merlin dream.

that are almost uh continue to be realized. I really wish there was a good metaphor that made people less less mad because I yeah, I I know that these tools are made off of stolen labor. Um I took the military school because because this one is so like for example here's some here's some these are part of my Like an infinitely enormous airport terminal interior contains an ancient history museum, which in turn contains another tiny airport. A military school for white children has started growing there. Just if I'm gonna really drag this out. Norman Rockwell painting of a very old man with enormous wings sitting on a gravestone, eating a crossword puzzle and crying inconsolably, he's absorbed by a very large castle word.

There is the shirtless man running through the water. Yeah. no uh the plane noise elevates it and it very Because it's that sound you remember like when you're a little kid and your hearing is even better. Like you can do what I did, and I'll just be straight up. and uh but not in a requiem for a dream soundtrack t type of way. garage and turns into oh by the way fancy houses that's my next project I have a lot of dreams in endless fancy houses and it turns into a fancy hallway so maybe that will lead to the prequel Huh. Oh well. Mamie setup. Uh I think so. Because I'm sure I can't do it a second time. Like, you know what I mean? And the the joke I wanted to make was seems very simple to me, which is like, uh I I think this she might have taken this photograph before she filed for divorce.

have never heard of it nor understand why it's special, but the one percent that do, I think the uh joy from that is so exponential that it is m more than worth sharing. with certain classic Lennon McCartney songs, stuff like, you know when I say Lennon McCartney, I mean like a song like uh think about We Can Work It Out. Everything you want and your bed can sing, you don't get me don't get me but uh then they did another one that was much more jangly, Rickenbacker 12. weak connection can become stronger because of what you perhaps learn you both want. And uh that that might sound like a chicken problem, but it it it's like no no no, I I want my kid to be healthy. Absolutely. If it's my problem, it's really a big deal.

information or anecdotes or just we look to the world for things that confirm something we already believe. I think it's instrumental. I keep reading that sentence over and over. Maybe doesn't prove doesn't doesn't prove that I think I'm immune to it, but it certainly doesn't show that I accept it's something I do as much as or more than everybody else. There's nothing bad that you have to offer to any conversation. And yet, is there a possibility that you still tend to think and more saliently behave as though everything is everything? Because it's my belief that everything is not everything and not everything is everything. tried very hard to stay away from your Mastodon feed because I had a feeling that you would sh sh shove but but I broke I'm not sure what I'm saying.

Um uh a little column A, a little a little common B. Oh, okay. It was a thing. For sure. No, I have not. I do it at night now. how these films progress and we often don't get to see from like quote AI filmmakers how they what prompts they did, what led them to making a certain Oh, oh yeah, I I caught I caught that. Just my last thing to get the previous stuff of the way. d generative stuff that m doesn't create weird abstract images. And like blah blah blah, I keep going. mind creates with a dream that I write down. Like, right? And that ends up making it a more successful than a factually correct version. I d I don't like comparing it to anything, honestly. These let you interact with the model through text prompts as well as your existing images or videos, but the model is what it is.

Oh, that's a r real type of bird. Oh, I bet it can convert it to a spatial video that one or two people have left the ability to watch. Staring at it, I thought it would be American Beauty is a kind of rose. Um, there's a funny thing to me in life, which is that things have that have become useful th things for me as a person. Well, g give me an example of that. intrinsic or something cause that's what it sounds like when you say someone's yelling at you for something that you know is a problem. No, like that's not the bit. uh, you know, all the classics we read in college, like Zen Mind Beginner's Mind, or, you know, the Alan Watts stuff. Long story short, they're recording the background vocals for it, and I think they're very high.

Yeah. aspect of any given thing without a lot of other people trying to make it about another thing. Do you know what I mean? Like, don't assume every feeling I have or have ever had, every belief I have. And not the in when you say when you're trying to like s make everything connected to everything else, because that's like the most profound thing that you can add to the conversation. I still think about that, right? The fact that as as I uh read that, I'm like, yes, I I I I know, yeah, yes, that is that is a very good true statement and a very good way to put it. became it would become that person's world and uh radicalized a lot of people. Flu, yeah, as long it into the season as possible because I want the longest immunity.

I think people very understandably want to hear more about that in other places and hear things that match their reckon about that that feel like sort of laws of the world that had an important incubation in emotion. way of thinking or or became my default way of thinking But does it result in a change as a result of that uh fragrance. And uh uh like I I I know that I mentioned Seinfeld's yada yada yada, I'm sorry, real quick, just so I understand. I um you're still having a little bit of a time, right? And why is that man so worried looking out the window of his plane? Yes, and th but people might know Luma, and I will again recommend Luma, not even necessarily the I think it would be really interesting if you just shared a list of all of the prompts if you were comfortable.

And saying it sounds insane and insipid and cliche. had a very simple This is both. Because it's like, well yeah, and you can make anything impossible out of a moo a movie. Okay, here we go. so many of the example prompts of like look at what this amazing machine can do you can see the hairs on this This I that at least in my in the way I put all these together. Yeah, exactly. is um it needs a little bit of a little bit of a baby cry. Initially it was just rumbling machine noise. So that's very frustrating. It could be a combination of intuition and rationality that goes like I know this thing is happening and it's having this impact on me. distinction between cognitive errors and and cognitive bias because I definitely w continue to and always will continue to make cognitive errors, but it d I don't think S uh spoil well, not a spoiler for most people.

And it was a b and it's all the all the things that people in public, but especially on Muni, have told her she needs to do about her baby. I'm getting texts from people. Why like I was like what are you doing to Yeah he she he hates it when she drinks water like the I want to be more crushable.

Chris? Stuart Lee has a Stuart Lee has a new special. Um I I I kept running into this thing that I found frustrating. I know I've seen I've seen the original Let It Be movie. There's the whole thing about, you know, if you if you live in a snowy climate, you might have lots of different words for snow, right? It it it led to leads to kind of a breakthrough for me, which is I realize how often I try to make everything into everything. Not not a Jimmy fragrance. Challenge this week is to make a little movie. That used to be my outgoing in nineteen ninety-two. And then y you play with it and you collaborate and you say, Oh, I see. And then when one finishes that's what I want, mostly I can extend that one.

I don't know yet. Mm my favorite, I I I think uh he yeah, the unresolved to solve my my uh my favorite is when Like you're not you're not allowed to do that. My two-year-old is super gay and we love him more than a straight child because he does it right. Does that sort of uh track uh what I thought about when I uh r read that initially? Jeremy fragrance fragrance has become a big deal in uh Billy's life. But like is it the third episode that we get Yeah, no, it absolutely is, because Madeline Wait, I've I've just met the sun in the third episode. I I was my oh the other one was do chair yoga. But you but you you've done this, right? I don't want people to yell at me, Merlin. Array. The more I know about it, the more upset I am.

Like that's how conversations work. I don't know. See this we gotta this is really fucking boring. Every sometimes twice a day. Made uh an unexpected appearance in the work that I have produced for this week's challenge. John Cho. Um I think so. Like I think probably a flavor of that might be, and again I might be getting this slightly wrong, but like a flavor of that is like that person's bad, but I have my reasons. Well because there's already there's a Luma is it Luma Labs, is it? You think you feel different than Pika? That's kind of how I think of it. And uh but as you see that, like y you see that in the with the airport in the background That hall is your hall. He also puts a sheriff in something if memory serves.

It's very subtle. I mean it could have been shorter a little bit, but anyway it was a wonder series about um this did you hear in 2001 He he's one of those people that you will have no interest in thinking about the other thing. And and like there I everything isn't everything. Which is I look for the thing and there's a emotional thing that interests me, which is whatever the hell brain garbage, my Not that scared. 'Ca it t it'll take a second. It said something like, um uh Jennifer Lopez uh uh appears on a boat taking a selfie in a white bathing suit. Is the f the c the occasional frustration of no matter how much I try to think about this, for me to assert something, not for me to just agree with something, but for me to assert a point of view Okay.

It is so uh re it it it has become this thing where where like, okay, everything is about whether or not you you vaccinate your kids. Like, oh I know. Oh, I know this. That's acceptable. Um you had introduced me to definitely you definitely just to get it just to clarify here and give a break here. Hey everybody! Oh, you uh you still can, Merlin, through the app store. Let's see this one. Good job. Chris? Uh scene three, two, one? Well while we're talking about boring microphone uh things, do you still have the fancy No well you you're talking about. And I don't know, maybe I'm just old and did too many drugs in college. Joy is Joy is unmeterable. This kind of goes back to three or four episodes ago.

I wait kind of a l as long as possible for my flu shot, which is because i you know, all I know is like Just merely merely a terrible, terrible inconvenience. Mm-hmm. Oh yeah, you you made a little a little movie. That's one reason I really respect him. Do you wear any fragrances? Luma AI? Oh, sponsor me. USB Pre2 from a million years ago. And I post something about that and like everybody brings their own joke. It's a way for me personally to try and grow by saying stop always feeling the need for everything to be everything. It's very it's very difficult to describe why it is that I find some profundity in repeatedly reading and thinking about that phrase. It was it was so like I I I truly w was like, oh, it's gonna go in the hole.

Going in and pushing in. Yeah. It makes things boring when it is flattened to one thing or another. So the I cheated in so many ways because I can feed it actual like I'm not, you know, you've seen me do the thing where I just paste in the hilarious to me thing of just pasting in literally what I wrote down from my dreams. I made this in iMovie on a different computer, and I guess that doesn't sync up, but I think I've got a screen grab at some point of the swim lanes. This is evolved to be part of my array of prompts or you know that I'll tweak each time. It kind of whether we want to or not, it like it hurts our feelings because we feel like, you know, I already know about that. And you can find a fairly full version of it.

And may maybe that's a joyful thing, but doesn't it ever make feel like a little bit of a burden, how everything is everything now? It's not going to make you a better person, but at the very least it can make you a more thoughtful person to to be open to challenging some of the things that Very demure. Oh god. Hello everybody. Oh, challenge might be watch Chimp Crazy on HP. I stand up, I stand up and I put my hands up really high and I bend over backwards and I'm like, oh, this feels so much better. What is good? You can go about this any way you want, but it is fascinating to see So one reason I feel like we can still talk about this is you're the one who introduced me to uh Maybe yours. But I I'm interested in that little girl.

Oh throw a birch. And like, or uh there's a million I can these these these happen like all the time, right? Oh yeah. Now I'm not a first class anymore and I'm gonna miss my connecting flight. Today is the day I'm gonna track this down. It would be cool. And at the end of the day, the people who are in a position, supposedly, to to know these things would say, look, at at the end of the day Right. I I don't know. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Obviously, that's also when I kind of realized it's a little bit like a David Lynch dream sequence. But that that now that's not a dream. Or rather a lack of Do you know do you know that because the Castaway is a flightless bird, it can only fly in my dreams? He's the guy from the movies.

So like when Lin Manwell Miranda and Ben uh Ben uh Ben Ben Ben Armcast say love is love or whatever, you go, oh, okay, that's really insightful. One time she's on Munich with her baby and a woman with big shopping bag goes, that baby needs gloves You don't make cognitive errors. It is a different way to make me think. You're not creating I I don't like to think of it as creating a I did not notice the baby cry. I like that actor. Come on down to Alex's big bargain born. We've got uh so the very first scene. I was gonna buy a helmet. It's like everybody wants to bring everything into something. But if you feel in your heart without ever examining it that you tend to be right about pretty much everything, You ever see what remains of my balls?

No, when I go uh that's when I am pausing and I'm like, what was I going to do? Now go make me video of that. But when the ancient bird woman starts scurrying around and milk shoots up and she goes through a wall, that I did not ask for that. It's not like a problem. It is it's a bad movie. Um, that's exciting. Unless I'm not talking about talking about ever unless. So we're already on very sketchy ground here. Um, you asked about sound. And the photograph, the hero image for the article was her very clearly in a black outfit taking a photo. Inside of cognitive bias, you've got something like confirmation. If you said do yoga, I'd be kinda bummed but like do cherry yoga? What makes it exciting to me is I feed it some information.

And so finally I said, one of one of my favorite parts about technology like this is the same thing that drives a lot of people, normal people, crazy. And also this is our universe. So Liz goes into this forum just to find out some kind of very anodyne question, what's the best place to buy a tricycle or something like that? Yeah. Whenever you visit the sister, remember that? Not m maybe on the show. And that's when it can't that is the same video. It's like, well I don't care about that. But is it good it's going up slightly? Okay. And then you think about in within two years they're doing the white album and there's very few tracks that everybody plays on. I understand that. So I mean the classic cognitive bias, I think, in some ways is confirmation bias.

And it feels like, sorry, we're already getting into the whole like turns out freakingomics world. Yeah, yeah. What if there's a cassary in there? I or mmm I have my own views on this and like I I didn't mean it as a bit. That's how I feel sometimes. No, I'm s I I'm no bits. Do you remember where I think it Liz has adopted a child at that point or is gonna adopt a child. Is that like a girl doctor? And also everything is not everything. Like you would be I would hate being told that my medical condition that I absolutely feel to my core is happening to me. Or like I buy a new car and it gets a ding or whatever. But in that case, I never in a million years could have said I don't know what I would ask for to get that blonde woman walking from right to left, but it's one of my favorite parts of the video.

Merlin, good. It's one thing to like say, Well, Emma, can I find any errors? It's like when Homer puts on reading glasses, you know something very bad is about to happen. It's you're going in and you're telling it some stuff and it's saying, well, what about how about this? Why is that girl there? New York Island of the Redwood Forest. Well no, I I realize how str how important it is for me to not play it every day, you know, because I don't want to have. Today's strands is American Beauty. Oh. I mean you you once uh posted everything isn't everything. Well the truth is though, it it I mean it's whether or not excellent question actually. And I always in my head, I hear that and I think like, I bet that was one of the I wonder if that was one of the last times that they actually kind of had fun together in the studio.

I I realize this is complicated, but isn't there a way that we could talk about one thing without it becoming about everything? Right. And my example of this has kind of become One person could say you didn't do it fast enough. He would like leave a room if somebody started talking about their dreams. And if it feels like my dream, I go with it. Um so here's here's real quick. I'm sorry about that. No, I don't. If everybody it's everybody else's problems, that's that's a very regrettable in inconvenience. I know. Hey everybody! I'm see I'm being ageist. This is President Richard Nixon. I mean I'm no proxy director, but uh it when you're on a roll, you're on a roll. Guy and well and by sponsor me I mean um be my friend.

Uh-huh. Wow. Well, that also assumes that everything is everything, which is you cannot talk about a specific aspect of any g you should not talk about a specific aspect of any given thing. I know how he was framed. Because I've ranting for a long time. In that case, what I realize over time, everything's not everything, not everything's everything. And it causes people to sometimes fly right past. They're just there to whip their dick out and then go to the next scene sometimes. I think it could be argued in a very unpopular way that your better attempts at academics There has to, it seems to me anyway, I'm not a primary researcher, but it seems to me that like there has to be something that runs through that that says like we're looking for things.

Do you intuit what it means when I said it it it yeah? Ah the heck but the thank you. Did you get to episode two yet? Um Inconceivable? Like d don't be gross. I'm like, Well, why uh I I don't know. I watched your I I am glad I peanut buttered on this because You've done this a little bit, you've gone in and had it make your little movies, right? Like once you build a lot of things, when the models Yeah, I tried to write this up as a blog post uh the other day relevant to this, but And I know it's a little bit of a flex or a like a like unnecessary to have the lizard, but can I tell you I love that it did not honor the hole that I asked for? Oh, oh. I just went to Google and just searched for images of dark hallways.

Oh right, Mina Zuvari. Is that okay? Like if I said to you, sorry about your cervical cancer, but like you do have it for a reason. I don't like him, but I do respect him. Well do you remember the when I made the ones when I made the ones where it ended up I said like it's a bunch of hobos and there's beans? And then I added a very low cello, like the one or two notes that are played on a cello for six hours that I used to go to sleep to. It cut I'm like it's it's like a neckla it's a scaly necklabia, and I don't like it. Seduce Lester. I'd buy that for a dollar. An example is it's difficult to talk about anything without somebody bringing in their file card on one thing about it that's upsetting.

You ever gotten a flu shot and it hurts like hell? Here's a great one. And you know what I mean? It's like the reason I I've always loved all of this stuff. One of the many uncanny things. And I don't know, I get a little freaked out by the hole. Sir, at long last no, are you talking about the silver one, the fancy silver one? Did you do that off the dome? There's a term in Greek in rhetoric for this, but like when you do that sort of like, you know, oh, it is what it is. Um yeah, I I have heard that. Like nobody wants to be told the thing you have is not really a thing, but there is a reason you have it. Like but the classic example is like you tend to look for information or accept information in the world that confirms a belief that you had before.

And maybe at a certain point I realize that I the my rejection of that assertion. I can show I'm happy to share any of these prompts if you're curious, just to see what how I got that. First of all, not everything is everything, but also I'm cheating on so many levels because not only is this thing I'm cheating in a way that somebody who knows how to use tools And then usually then like I say I go back and I'll like copy edit what I wrote and make sure that it's you know Just so you know, this is made with both. You know how many bottles of water uh uh you pour out every time you know how I was treated in middle school? Like a hallway and another hallway, or for that matter a lizard and another lizard How young was John Cho in this?

When the woman starts scurrying or when when um oh what's her name? A military school for white children has started growing there. There's a new hole. I know Stuart Lee's not for everybody, but there's a new Stuart Lee special. These these like could it could be from the Greeks, but it always kind of sounds like it's quoted by somebody who likes Fight Club. And I think I think sometimes it's difficult for people It's just it's got There's a whole there's a whole I want to say, gosh, I want to say rationality wiki, which sounds like an Ayn Rand project, but What do you call him? Yeah. And I and I think you were the one who introduced me to Pika as well, right? Um Beauty. The person who said it.

You know what? I'm so sorry. The like the uh uh it's like a bad brain sundown where the m antipsychotics wear off a bit. So that's that's the kind of thing. I wish that was something I had a way to fix or like or like, you know, uh or th there'll be one person who's like, well here's sixteen other versions or like bla blah blah blah blah. But the thing that I've started to realize that I I think it's not just a way for me to write off people being, I think. Yeah. I I tend to like uh folk demon is a term that I would prefer in some ways, right? Like that's what you apply to things. I don't think so. I'm a stupid moron with a big butt. That was my outgoing voicemail message. Something I've no, somebody does something, I forget what, but the way it pushes in and like it gets to that point of like where it's getting close to the wall to the right of the bed on our side, and it stopped there and I was like, oh, keep going.

I just heard an upsetting noise. It's Chris. But that's not what what it is for right now. Helmets inhibit brain development. Because I mean, yeah, that's worth it, but like right now I really can't miss three weeks of work. Yeah, I'm smart. Oh, very popular. Okay, just so you all know if you want to skip, you can skip ahead. I think we can still absolutely talk about because like I I yes, yes I've been working talking to those guys and they they're really neat. And then I started thinking, 'cause I love the way it dissolves and makes unexpected that's what makes me feel so like lost highway to me, is the way like there'll be a dissolve, not fading, a dissolve. Guess what? And those are both very meaningful.

You know what I mean? It's the thing is, it's not that people disagree with you about that one thing. I d I was just doing the annoying thing uh that you don't like where I am like, yes And because they used it wrong in a way that felt like my dream, I was totally fine with it. I make smart puns. You gotta have the visual part explain how it felt. Well and like why did that little girl's why did that little girl's mouth turn into bacon? That tends to not be great because the feeling of being inside an airport that's inside a museum that's inside of another airport is kind of hard to get across in with this tool Yeah. That's how I get that slightly uncanny. I don't know if this one even ever came out, but I was talking about the Kamal, I don't think this ever came out, the Kamala Harris Iceberg.

And like reading a forum of other mothers? I think it makes things a little bit less interesting and makes it a little less promising as a topic of discourse. Of like there's the there's like whether that's like St. You do not have any struggle at all understanding why everybody else is so bad at this stuff and you are so uniquely good at this stuff. I uh by manually, do you mean clicking the button or like turning uh a c camera key? I'm I'm very oily. Um and it's still a good idea. And then I had to kind of layer that a little bit at points when I wanted it to get to continue or get louder because I didn't get into looping. Do you in three D. Frank oh no, Frank Fitz is his in Chris uh Chr Chris?

I I do. And then somebody else comes in and goes, Well, actually, you know, that was edited in a certain way because that's all the footage they have. There were uh some people who w had never been like weirdo QAnon Not not the Jimmy variety, but not the Jimmy scented. Okay. Yeah, make a little movie. And I think they're maybe not as different as you think they are, but but in each case it's uh prime the best way to think of it is it's a what we're saying generative AI, LLM, where you have a prompt. Uh there well there are things that like stylistically like a different paintbrush or whatever comparison won't make you mad as a person. The white children are all very sad. Why'd she stay? Oh yeah, it's the kind of it's the kind of bird that I'm most scared of because I'm pretty sure it's gonna kill me.

I'm still. Or maybe somebody, right, somebody maybe has like a legitimate allergy to these things. That place is there is a lot of pollution there. Yep, Skippity Jeremy? But sometimes a person forgets to change shirts for like ten days and then you go like, Oh, I I should fix that, you know what I'm saying? We can do that any week. But then it also has each one in its own way has different ways to tweak that. Um show don't tell kind of a little bit. My lizard's full of hallways and birds. Ca Cassawary stands in a huge empty airport terminal. I'm very pleased with my microphone and this Uh mindful. That's a recollection of a dream. And that's what makes it excruciating. Uh yeah, so I did this in iMovie and I knew that I wanted it to like, I know it's it's not very not very clever and certainly not very original, but I knew it had a little bit of an eraser head vibe Just starting to think of arbitrarily why this particular take of this particular Beatles song is so special to me.

Yep. So to me on the first level, it's just a way of saying, hey, look, when I say everything is not everything, what I'm trying to say is that like the entire world is not the entire world And what we keep coming up with is this, and I don't even remember the name we use for it now. Um, but there's just err errors in thinking. You're supposed to his name. Um like that there are folks who want to have So all I have to do is keep generating stuff that's within a narrow range of what my dreams tend to be about. V finish that thought. Even as that fairly quickly pushes in past where we see her, this is that girl's story we're about to watch. Oh, that thing's a beast. Go back to Saudi Arabia, Hitler.

Talk to me like I'm um a dumb 34-year-old. And it's like, okay, well did you read it again? It turns my I have to look at my face every time I launch this Kakamami app. I'm a stupid moron with an ugly face and a big butt and my butt smells and I like to kiss my own butt. You didn't say anything. It might have been Sagan, it might have been Asimov, it might have been Hitchens, but some free thinker person once said But just even here on the uh cognitive bias page on um Wikipedia, here's a few other ones. But uh Jer Jeremy Jimmy I he's my personal friend. Could a depressed person make this? For one day, for one thing. That is maybe a way to put it, which is like it's not a question of it's sort of like I was saying about binaries.

Everywhere but my dreams, the Castlewari can't fly. Yeah, why uh why is Are you seeing Oh no one wants to She's the rose girl. Don't come and see me if you don't know what anything is. So g keep keep that in mind. You can say that about anything, you know. I don't I don't know if it's profound. Fundamental attribution error. Hey. Well you think you think I'm gonna buy cassette tapes full of good outgoing messages? Um God. But there's already a Luma. I know there are b b bad company, yes. Yeah, that's fine, I'm sure. What's uh set aside the hole go for the fold. All I'd asked for was a high-pitched sound. No, I mean it it it's gonna require me or su I feel like in order to talk about this I need to do something I don't normally do.

I went to I went to a college where a Beatles expert comes from. I like I like the way they do that song. And certainly they don't like things that Harvey Weinstein has done. There's the everything that encompasses the entire set of matter that could exist. And then describing it is pointless. This hall this hall is is our all of our hall. Failed. Like but there will be some and now you're having a fight with somebody about whatever their fetish is. Like you have It's our little world. Yes. No, no, you have to sit with it. God, it's so funny. Yeah. We gotta s we gotta spread it real, real thin. But the But uh here is something that I don't know if you've talked about yet that uh Oh by the way, for example, I was gonna say was just to give you an example, here's the first scene.

That wing garbage? Crime and he Pete. It's it's like, okay, this is sort of what I was thinking, but I would have never th When it goes to that stunning thing with a blonde woman is walking from right to left and there's a shadow of a bear, kind of. Oh wait, uh sorry, but but like I was um so I I watch and look at a lot of different AI prompts. But you know, the one that makes it onto revolver is the more famous like Which has a way of just further like building up the whole There's a no easy way to put it, to call it, you know, psychosomatic or hysterical, especially, right? So now I have to learn about Jeremy fragrance. Whoever owns this machine isn't here. Uh what? You wanna make things like this, huh?

Inconceivable. I guess you get a certain number of these free each month. Yeah. That's these are dumb examples. And so what did people say? But you do know I'm sorry just okay, so let me turn it into something a little more uh focused You were unscientific to doubt it at all. Like there's the classic, like, wow, every time I wash to get my car washed, it rains. South Lebanon, Ohio. The ro Rob Delaney that turns into Ryan Reynolds. It sounds like an airplane. It's an overrated movie. But what I find intoxic so like it the my realization was a thing that I kept saying this dumb thing for for like, I don't know, a year or two now Not uh not everything is bits. I know what those waves look like. Now confirmation bias even can be its own umbrella for lots of other Like there's all these kinds of things where you're like, yeah, well, that's the way that always goes.

I'm obsessed with this fucking show. And what other medium with what other subject is a better match than this? Uh oh, interesting. Why didn't she run through the wall like everyone else Like how uh uh are you talking about something that is Well, it's a it's a concept everybody can understand, but we we lack a word for that in English, so now we just say Schadenfreude. And I again specific examples. I don't care. Another time it doesn't. Other people can see that that heuristic is incomplete or unfair or something else, but it's your heuristic. Everything that you have to offer, your best shot at joining any conversation will be more than adequate because you're so much better at this than everybody else.

And you think you're thinking there's not gonna be another good twist. I can basically A B test extensions by seeing which one is more like what I wanted. Yeah. The cabin of the airplane, uh well, here we go. Why I find some things that are seemingly insipid I find so direct. And I just thought that was kind of funny. And that's something to think about. That's all. Um a lot better. You can it's very hard to hear, but there's at one point there's a little bit of a baby cry. My dad's mean. But yeah. And we've seen this a lot, understandably, over the years. I bet there you know, whatever your most conceivable reckon about thing something can be, you develop a very emotional attachment to that.

So cognitive errors are just as such a fancy way of saying like an error in the way that you're thinking. Like you could be like Syracuse and just be like all I care about is being right. All right. Hey yeah that makes me think you get it. And I'm another way I'm cheating is that this is uniquely well suited to something that is inconceivable, which is how a dream feels. So I thought, oh, just for fun, I didn't want to put myself in it, but I thought if I could have if we could push in on Bando's hole and have it turn into a hallway. It's just neat to me as somebody who has so imprinted on the original version of that song, to need to hear this version, which is a I'm trying to think of other examples of this.

Like if we both watch the same video. What what your your little sub bits are just funny sometimes. DM Bad Brain Sundown. It does whatever with it. But like a good example would be is I happen to really like the Beatles. I don't know what your wave will be. My butt smells and I like to kiss my own butt. I kept being really frustrated by this thing where like I feel like especially online or wherever. I'll pause at this point. I guess I'll keep making everything. You might as well give your darling child vaccines, which studies show cause homosexuality. I don't see a clock on here. And uh I think the I I mean, I don't know, I'll make this an I statement. Oh I did indeed. I don't do sidebars. It's not it's not a um it's not a what is the thing from uh Hedgehog's Guide where you can like get or Star Trek where you can order any kind of food.

It's a way to make something impossible. This one that one was done on uh LUMO. This was very similar to Uh but these you're collaborating with these two different models and the stuff that you had made with uh Pika Um tools like these the next challenge for our podcast is to make a little movie. Like not that kind of cliche. Yeah, but but like he he's a uh a leading g or a oh no, I think you're right. Everything is not everything, and not everything is everything. There's this there's a scene in a very late season of the show, uh episode from I think a pretty late season. I don't know how vaccines work, so I tr I trust you, put put it in me. You know? Yeah. Then that's the new holy shit. I think Luma was also the iPad screen sharing software.

We're already an order yes at least an order away. He's he's not quite a guy from that thing, but It's the most beautiful thing you've ever seen. Well wait, is c so by a cognitive error. art with a K and it's kind of confusing. Like so one that I ended up taking out was that that kind of like zombie-looking scene of like people running out of a room. Yay! There we go. And uh because Yeah, I think you got it right in one. Don't like assume all these different things. There's a range of all possible topics. But like COVID right away and uh But uh no, uh, but uh I know it's not something and it's a you know, it's not but That's not what the hole with the ancient bird looked like in my dream at all, but it very much feels like it.

It'll let you upload two photographs. At least the person in your head says, oh, it must be nice to be able to fly on planes. Sometimes very actively, sometimes very passive aggressively. Alright. You know? Doodle doodle doodle I'm too young. That's American beauty. It's really neat. But the reason I say that in the in the w that entry in the wisdom document is like Um implicit bias is the tendency to Is this like the vibes bias, basically? Very, very nice tea. I'm not disappointed when it's not what I expected. No no no no I'm I'm I'm responding to I have one problem here, not a problem, not a big problem, but I don't This is Do By Friday, a weekly challenge podcast with Alex Cox and Merlin Mann.

Um but I do feel like sometimes So like I'm gonna start in a very base It's like first of all, nobody fucking cares. What does that have to do with the the other thing? I have I think about like another thing from the wisdom document that I'm sure drives people crazy were that's about unintentional cognitive errors. I mean it's I don't think it Do you remember the neighbor boy with the camera? No. There were a lot of parents who were just okay like okay. I'm I'm just I'm just oily. Oh fuck. I totally it adds a lot. I'm not like I am not puffing you up, just Makes me look bad. You're buying a bike but not a helmet? But if you're uh in any part of not even necessarily a marginalized community Vitus dance or, you know, there's there's so many things through the years, through the centuries of things where like we can't explain why this thing It turns my camera's turned on every time, and from what I can tell, there's no way to say never turn on my camera.

Because for people go, yeah, yeah, I know what you mean. Oh Yeah. What's the classic, dumbest conceivable example of this? Oh how funny would it be if it was Jordan Peterson? And this isn't just about me, I don't think, but like I I think that do you ever feel that over And I am talking like sort of in an even lower level than And you're like, oh, unintentional cognitive bias. Um there's a pretty good chance that that would be uh to me that that's a pretty good chance that would be the challenge for now. Until then I'll do it myself. Yeah, I'm more than happy to talk about it This starts as an airport. And what was what was his line? But like if I if I if I want to talk about Well, can I say a good example Yes please sort of the the Beatles one or There's not a matrix for finding out whether how much your life will be disrupted by this decision today.

You tend to r you tend to focus more emotionally on the times you're frustrated that your $25 car wash is for nothing I I like the uh uh Tendency to over-emphasize personality-based explanations for behaviors observed in others Everything is not everything, and not everything is everything Huh. Oh sh one do chair yoga? I love that I cannot tell this thing exactly what I want and have it make it. But like that to me is keep doing it until it stops feeling like a dream. When you say to somebody it was your house but it wasn't your house, we've all heard somebody say that a thousand times. The well and Mm-hmm. Oh god, Jesus Christ, let me wake up. But then the the way that the the plane For one day, for one thing.

Her reaction might be, huh, really? Who's the dad? There are a lot of problems with the groundwater. I don't know if that makes me smart or an asshole because I think that it is my default. Whenever he has the letters to create a shirt. Yeah. But like one of one of my all-time favorite Beatles songs from from day to day, maybe my favorite Beatles album is And Your Bird Can Sing. Hey, what's all this scene? And then I make some editorial decisions about whether that's close enough to what I want. I I I just I love delving into that stuff. Nobody wants to be told that. The white children are all very sad. And then people were posting photos of her in a bathing suit and going, here's what you missed.

Could you s could you say potentially public health skeptics? Oh, this is a real person. I just feel like I'm not trying to be contrary, but I feel like the reason a lot of people hate these things And like I understand, but again, like in my case, it's more like I'm gonna tell you a bunch of stuff, I'm gonna see what you come up with. That's not what I asked for. It's got Bacchulas in it too. But I mean again, I don't know why I fucking bother. Do do all of those things. There are god, I'm so sorry, I'm so out of my depth, but I would think of it this way. Media's not death. Oh yeah. It didn't get the beans wrong. Um Okay, so there's one that I've had around for a while already. And I didn't I didn't mean it to sound like an airplane.

It's menacing. Like this is how I wish more things were scored and Did you already do it? Did anything change Any recommendations for the best place to buy a girl's bike on the Upper West Side? It's that they disagree with you. Like cognitive bias incidents of like incidents of I hate it and I'm obsessed with it. You seem a lot better, but it's Didn't you show me Pika. Uh but the yeah, it's very confusing. Yeah, and I want and I and I want I don't want a claw hammer that makes lattes. But when I see an when I run across a new one of these, I have old prompts that I run over again just to see how it comes up with it, right? Necessarily. Right, you know the guy from Star Trek and uh and the in the in the White Castle movie?

So few people actually want me to keep talking. The hysteria the hysterical thing. In-app purchases, celebrity voices? That makes me you get it. Because I was running yeah, no, I was running both at the same time, having like, that's one of the things I love is I can have all these things generating To just say how it felt You can't change the model, but you can use your interactions to sort of seed your ideas and see what the model would think of them That's a good note. Like this is this is uh is similar to what some hallucinations for Marie We could do it together. No, not the microphone, the uh USB Pre, I think. And I was like, yeah, but how do we ever talk about one thing if we first have to talk about everything?

And if if you live, you know, like I d I don't mean this in a sexist way, but like this is something that is a uniquely mom-form kind of thing. Like COVID's real, like absolutely and then Well it could also be that you're going on vacation tomorrow. You know? Like basically if it was like, you know, better call Saul. Carrie Mulligan Okay. Yeah, yeah. No, the beautiful part, I wanted it to be here's the beauty. Or did you know that actually it was not Yoko who broke up the Batman in many ways, it was Paul because he was No, it doesn't. Like you have to just kind of stop watching Miramax movies, I guess. And you're like, so like the part that makes it so collaborative, one of the things I love that other people are telling people crazy, how dreamlike.

Because high-pitched sounds upset people I have a very short reading series about a man in a private Like two days ago, I posted what I thought was a funny headline, which was it said Like, I I don't I'm like, I don't care. You know, the um the one they've started putting out what do those call it? I bet there's a lot of people who have trouble watching pulp fiction. That kind of feeling is like, oh, that's very profound. And I'm saying this Which what does that mean? Oh, there's a clock over there. It's right there in the room with you. Chris uh Chris uh Chris Chris Mission Impossible, right? Ah. Once you really know what was happening at Love Canal, that PBS special in Love Canal is just heartbreaking.

Out of that comes a certain kind of emotionality. But this sp like you said, specifically the weird unreality dream like situations. But Make a new fold. So I had layers of Um one I think one to try, that's a fast fun way to get your legs under you, especially with Luma Labs. That all that tickles a lot of my little finer hairs about a lot of different things. But think about anybody who's not even canceled. But the that's that to me is is Exactly. I call him Jimmy. Hmm. In today's modern documentary. They're nice guys. Right? And another person might say, well, yeah, now people are going to make phone calls through your gallbladder. That just doesn't happen. Mm-hmm. Oh, it's that it's from KC and it's about games.

I uh That' And it's not it's not a thing that'll present itself to you. Tell me that you got everything you want, and your bad can sing that you don't get me. Why are you Just There's um Dan Taversky just did a a good Stand in the place where you live. Remember that? But the idea is, you know, it's still an LLM. And the way that it felt the way it felt is not, no matter how much detail you provide about quote, what happened. One problem is Billy once aga I I had to buy Billy his own account because he keeps logging into mine. Yeah man, that's the point. Oh, you're you're excited about Kamala Harris? Where you're like, Oh, I see you brought that joke to this. If I were to keep interrupting you like I'm doing right now Um It is a podcast, so it's got turns out stuff in it, but like Uh-uh.

Yeah. I actually I I think that I have heard that If I could have this and the ability to breathe, I would be so functional. Well let me try and collaborate with you, not to correct you on how my dreams should look, because what are you doing there? Yeah, and yes. No matter how good it gets at being a bird, the only place a Castlewari will ever fly is in my dreams. Do you remember it's it's the dumbest scene. But that's not a good way to sell an airport book. Unless Unless Unless I am I uh Um some other ones. Oh god. Ah, I mean. You know what I'm saying? And I I just really like that stuff. The head is where the child's brain is. And for other people it's that Like yeah. Now I've got to learn about Jeremy fragrance.

Okay. They gotta be done. Uh Luma That's so that's interesting. Well I don't know. It's does the thing, you know? That's the line. You know what I mean? Like what about that? Yeah, there's uh there's an MPU where I I can see like a a multiverse situation where Syracuse and I s The the crossovers just don't Basically generating the scenes generating the scenes that I could you know It feels like that. Oh, not everything is everything. A military school for white children and just to be clear, that doesn't mean that they're Caucasians, it means they're white in color. But like whatever it is, you could you could like but for this to work, think about like Yeah. Yeah. art? Like, do you want a certain kind of style?

Yeah, and as you are collaborating Because that your brain is already making these dumb puns with ideas all the time anyway. Hmm. So this photograph is how the move your movie you make begins, and that photograph is how your movie ends. I mean that what I mean is that like so many things in life that well, I'm gonna drop all the bits. Like I'm an adult. Um to me. Um, but I uh Nicholas what is it? I gotta get some green wave in here. Because Here's a very simple way to think about it. Set your balls out? Not even uh I would I wouldn't even consider that I only drink to improve my social skills. How old were you? So Did you see it's got some it's got some references to birds in it? It's it's something that people in general say from the Simpsons or that we in particular?

Cheating cheating by trying to make my brain fit into a machine. Is this a reference to this spangram? But then anybody who does care who goes like the first thing will be like, oh, the embed didn't load here. You know what I mean? Oh. I'd start I do it at night now. Not everything is everything. I look at it as a chance to collaborate some more. It's really overwhelming to your ears. This isn't to make me sound smart because I'm not i i except for the uh Oh my God. And it's And that is the idea that we tend to seek out Like how do you know if you've conf you can't confirm whether or not you have confirmation bias and that drives me Here's your here's your mantra. Yeah I I feel yeah I feel like I do.

But you're like, no, you can't understand how that feels for me. Mm-hmm. An overrated is 4543. I mean not when it's not when it's homemade. Okay. No, I I'm it's No. It I found it increasingly difficult to talk about a narrow And I think we hit a certain height of this around 2017-18. Well that's because there are people on a stage who are not there. Oh boy Challenge Wow Hello, how are you? And it's just like and then people are following up on that, because now it's okay for everything to be everything. Well, a cognitive psychologist might say, well, is there a chance We're gonna have to be very clear about what kind of group we got together for this, right? Okay. His face goes. Don't don't come out and see me if you don't know what things are.

Yeah, well you're like, think about it, think about it. Uh that's a good question. Ringo quit at that point. But but like regardless of how you started out What is happening here? But like I just So I'm gonna find all the evidence that helps me get to the thing that makes me look right. Uh like where wherever. No, I don't. And Paul Paul was just trying to keep things going. There is a lot of stuff that like, but are those the reasons or is that just part of everything? No. Yes, got the best shot in the world. Like we know that when somebody yells at us, or we know that when someone corrects us, or we know that when somebody The spoiler in some ways is it's my feeling that if you read and think keep thinking about that phrase Not everything is everything.

Oh, so you haven't seen the end of the third episode. Is it really gonna go on full Tiger King? The goodenough. Yeah, yeah. So I've taken, I've got my dreams over here and I'm looking for the ones that feel most visually interesting. Like I mean just my deodorant. Oh okay. And then the the sad man uh looking out the window. I think that I think that was the start. What are you telling me? Does this sound perhaps a little like the chicken problem? I'll let you talk now. No, no, no, no. And then guess what happened? I just I just I don't know. I know it's not, but I want it to be a little bit more. Like you it's kind of it's kind of frustrating. But like that those kinds of things have been around forever.

And then remember to turn it off, otherwise you're gonna see what remains of my balls It's got the next week. Um other examples. But if you have good enough hearing to hear the high pitch noise But I must be very dry. But the giant eyeball saw it. But the part that I love is I at right around the time they go to the airport But like I'm in that and again, I I'm a man without a flag. It's just her looking at her Mac. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So confirmation bias, tendency to search for or interpret information. Well I don't know. I I I didn't uh side sidebar. W when then? But it's a way to make something it's a way to make something inconceivable. Um, but when Um and that just it it a small Oh, and look, it took a photo of me that I didn't want.

I'm so glad you brought this up. What? You know what I mean? Remember me talking about how like No, they're they're funny. Pika dot I don't care about making money. I love that it makes impossible things that are not what I expected. I'm never leaving here alive, am I? An anthology, I want to say. There's a different version they'd first done of Anyer Bird Can Sing. So what starts out as like this fairly um And people and so there's many, many sides to this, honestly, legitimately, of going like, well. I'm sorry, I'm s I'm so sorry, Gov But now Oh, dude, wow, I'm really into your hair. But think of anybody who's even like just not as rep. Uh You you talk and it gets it, you know? Um Hey they're testing the trains.

There's a range of all possible topics And once that becomes a certain kind of emotionality Yes. Oh yeah, I have that. That's a sound And uh oh yeah just Did you use that anywhere else before? Oh, see if you have to running around like it's on a lazy Susan. Hmm. Buy a vase. No, I don't. It's just so confusing. It's still that wackadoo thing, but But Jesus fucking Christ, is that ever what my dreams feel like? But I this doesn't like this stands out amongst Well, what about Obama's drones? Okay, well that's not really what we're doing here, but that's funny. I I mean I'm not I'm not an expert on this, but I think a a cognitive bias is Time was you could buy funny outgoing messages. It's I don't know if it's a real person.

That I'm gonna be good today. Um w will you answer my question about the uh fancy Yes. And I am uniquely above average. And Do you do you know? And So that's cool Nicholas Schaffner I wanna say, but there's a guy who wrote like one of the early like comprehensive books. I think I'm a dry person. us, it's a very interesting project. But but then I thought, you know what, this needs. I won't go into all the reasons, but like I I have I've always had a very strong relationship Just my deodorant. If it was, you know, if it was basically like Yeah. Chris Chris uh Chris Connelly Chris Connolly I took that and I think we kind of put it out as like and to try to do some stuff with um The idea is to do that as much with as much of video as you can of of this and that.

Giorgio DiCurico painting of a cheap hotel motel room at midnight. And I'm like, is Merlin doing a bit? Okay thank you. It frustrates me. George was already a little put off and would soon become very put off. It gave me that. Uh like so I the thing I realized the other day is I need to add more hallways. And sometimes that means tapping into something I feel very joyful about. When they started d did they did that TV series and they put out those Well you probably won't get sick. Worked on that for two weeks. Uh twenty twenty-six? Well and and I uh maybe that's not what that's for, dude. It made a new hole, but it was very clearly Bando's hole. What does that mean? We're gonna keep introducing new weirdos and have new twists.

Sometimes you say words. I wanted it as I was laughing because Shirkusa saw that photo. We can't always have a bit. Get a gong, you know? I don't know how that's a I I don't know how that's a thing. Um Uh fuck, fuck. Chris what's Christmas? Because Yep. It's just a really I gotta I gotta learn. No no dang it. No it means a lot when people get it. Did you see that? I oh, oh gosh, I really do have that. I don't remember which is which, but I should be able to at least fake it. I Ha ha I got a friend who has access. Do you think you have more of that than other people? That's awesome. Oh, that's cool. Yes. Sometimes if I'm feeling a little bit fancy, I have some aftershave I'll put on that I like a lot.

John Cho? Love is love. No And there's a range of all possible But like It's like or Okay, yeah, okay. Sometimes you just say words. I don't care I don't care about making money. Where the suddenly there's it seems like a still Uh he interacts with Brian Cox and is very good in the Bourne movie. And you're like, wait. I think that that is a Buddhist And that's one of them. For t for twenty five for twenty-five years. But if I were to make a reference where I Uh someone made a very good Oh gosh. I understand that, but if I do Oh man. My lizard Yeah. Thank you. Yep. I'm very happy to be working. I live in this nether region. Could be a parent for him thing, but no, seriously, like She's eight The old one of the DC last night or the one before that I can't tell if he's doing a bit.

Like there's all kinds like you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah. Um the It means nothing to anybody but you. What may start as the most like And And I'm the one who's scared of Castlewares. Um but like I I get it. Thank you continue. This week's challenge I'm not talking about like When it when it pushes in It's just it sounds it's difficult. Oh, ew, yuck. Oh sorry, am I right now still using that? I mean, yeah, it really does feel like That's hard that's hard for me to meter Twenty-six probably. You love Christmas And it's like, ah. But here's an e like an example is And I go I just love to make friends. Yes! The final scene, which is my favorite. Like it's not How often do you change your shirt?
