376. Loot Box for Hoarders

Let's see, well, whatever ends up happening, we can use the body to feed the cattle. I think three out of five times that I send it to the wrong person. W if if we wanna talk about play, keep on uh doing the New York Times puzzles or or keep on doing puzzles. He always looks like he just got surprised by Pee-Wee Harmon. And one of the things in in sort of in passing was that the forty-fifth president had was re recording video for an infomercial. It's like that B fifty two song, Roam If You Want To. you were talking about that funny little kid. I it occurs to me that this is something uh Max brought up a very long time ago and it involved an influencer. Oh no, I'm not gonna click this. This is so ironic.

It's not a question of like I mean personally I would I'm I'm an old guy with I think I I worship the old gods and think in the old ways. Is that Vatican III? Oh, wow, so he's already getting in the mix. And so I go, I guess I'll go play Wordle. Yeah, I'll do I'll do a crossword but like no, I'm just really generally into into strands and that. It's um so I'm sorry, I probably presented that so poorly, but that's what I got hooked on was um was that one and cause it just tickles apart in my brain and eventually in time as I learned how they get you with connections, I started really enjoying it because I would get like how do you play connections? Oh, and I'm not I'm leaving out the interesting part of this, which is that every time you find a word that they consider a word, it gets you it goes into your little pile.

I guess New York Times obviously has always had crosswords. And it's like maybe Wordle is partly because it's it's sticky because like in terms of like why does it scratch your mind this way? Well you also spell you spelled out the word hopeful a lot and then you kept doing it. So I went in and you do a search on the word mosquito and you'll see sometimes a topic will pop up and that's that's gold. Where that like I forget what it was, but sometimes I come in and I'm like, ooh, I wonder what my presents are this morning. Then I wrote down Demir and I crossed it out. Yeah. uh Mr. This is trillion cards. Speaking of CGC, it kinda didn't it kind of look like you you get a literal little like what would you say three quarters of an inch rectangle of cloth that claims to be from the the suit.

That doesn't seem really good. And if you had a piece of the true cross, I maybe it's a good luck for bingo. uh you know, like being raised in this like patrician, like, you know, um, you know, northern uh sorry, um it's early New England family that was very much not Catholic. uh sort of the internalized Catholic guilts, because I'm I think some of these might not exactly uh uh be what the priests say it is. Spanograms where your house rule is kind of okay, I want to get the spanogram first and no hints. So uh so I would argue you can play a quote bad round of spanograms where you need to use all of your hints and you're just making it like selecting crap words. It it's like r raw dogging uh c connections, like not getting any any wrong, n using no hints, just uh oh, when it says one uh you know, does the They're just little coins that let you have clues, right? And that that kind of stuff? And there were three that would fit so perfectly. It's onions and you're stupid. Am I I don't care what which it is, but you keep saying spanagram and I keep saying spangram and it's driving me crazy, so I know it must be driving other people crazy.

And I never got so far too much. in any way as against like when I first played solitaire, I think probably like everybody, you not only tend to sometimes cheat, but like I I just I didn't know the official way to play solitaire. in connections. I don't know, honor code's a silly word for it, but like your own like your own goals for what success looks like with this or strategies. most people I know of. The first thing to do is like not just because of the benefit of potential clues, but just start looking for words. w what you want in a a challenge b because I I don't know, I don't like guessing a four-letter word just so I can get a a little hint and I kinda like to I not only a really good chance to get spangram, but also to like just find other words is like, you know what I mean?

And I just I look at some I look at some five-letter word, six-letter word, and I'm just like, I cannot think of any way to turn this into a word. phrase. five words and you're like ah it's gonna be really hard to get five words out of this because the ones I'm getting are too short to do that and I'm like it's obviously got an element of right obviously I say it appears to me that there's an element of strategy. Which is choose a word, really know what your second word is gonna be when you fill in your first word in some ways.
