And that's the exact sort of uh interaction I would love to have with any famous person I respect. Obama when Obama was going off the stage last night and you know, I don't know. And kind of a little bit of a finger gun, like hey, hey, I see you. I don't know, it's a word that even I used to find kind of like squicky as because it sometimes bound when people would say boundaries, the plural noun boundaries You see like when you can tell when he really, really likes the band sometimes. And Dave, you can hear like the minute the last note rings out, you can hear Dave like like y yelling from the off mic, like, oh yeah Uh we're gonna talk about 2016.

Which I imagine will be a verb at some point. And like with Dave, I think you know, you're gonna be on the show. Like let's t let's take away, you know, f just to keep it less keep it c uncomplicated. And I said over under is a really cool kind of bet. And just on the chance, some of you don't know what that means, you say to somebody, okay, we need we need a way, we're gonna do a bet. I said, Was he uh excited to know this? Eighties and nineties, union scale payments for a talk show appearance were around five hundred to a thousand dollars, depending on the guest's standing and the specifics of the union agreement. n you know, they're not going to say that uh publicly because then you can you can negotiate. Uh it'll be like do you remember that? It is incidentally a when I say party, just to be clear, it's really more just a surprise. I don't know why I'm spelling them. Oh, I will be able to do that. Now it sounds like Dr. And to where I feel like some people are really kinda are like almost willfully missing a giant thing in the middle of the room, which is like, look, dude, I was fucking ready to vote for Joe Biden, who was who is obviously d m disassembling in front of us.

And it's like you know what, I I don't care if she comes out dressed like Bozo the Clown. Especially like the the the the chattering pundit class is always like, you know, you know, ah, they should have talked more about common and this should have been this and you know, why don't you just and all that stuff, but that's but I obviously everybody's excited about Tuesday night, but I thought Monday was good too. Stop trying to impress people who will always hate you. Like help me really understand more about the people who haven't really given this that much thought yet. It cannot be understated how important it was that that happened as quickly as it did for a lot of variety of reasons that have people understandably frustrated, but most people very exhilarated.

Which is we don't it's not a mystery. Peter Baker, who has an unusually poorly written piece in the Times today, he's a very good writer and a really smart guy. Partly because he has exactly the same HP printer that I do. But people like him, people people like whomever are always going to be carping about how she's not doing the thing that that helps my job. And try to phrase that carefully. There's not one answer to this that's going to make everybody happy, especially when there is a risk to making broad announcements that can be applied a million ways, because then that gets misused as well.

They successfully in Arizona got a a a ballot measure on the ballot for November to basically codify abortion rights.

Like, if you look at there's they really will come down likely to three to seven states will tell this story depending on the pathways. I think there's gonna be a lot. You know, we talked about Emily's list. I've heard the name for a long time. Uh there will be something that happens and I'm like literally I don't know another advantage. how weird these fucking people are. What's her name? What's her name? Can I just point out that like they are staying relentlessly positive and assertive rather than getting mired? I just saw a thing yesterday about the school board getting pushback because the the standards for how you are allowed to dress in public schools is enforced very differently depending on your skin color and your weight. How about also looking at how much as a result of being the default button in life, how much you've never had to relitigate any part of your past, your quote-unquote preferences, any of those things.

uh in inside the fast moving launch of Kamala Harris for president. Which keeps me uh hopeful that they uh at least to trying something different. But the Electoral College and the way that America has changed and evolved in terms of where people live and why has kind of upended a lot of that. Going to once again, probably unwisely, make the assumption that there's always like talking out of the side of your mouth situations of And those are the folks they bring up. on their computer. He's not he's not somebody he's not like the like one of those weekend hosts of cable news who who you know mainly from from like a podcast and a show that used to be on Cinemax, you know that kind of thing. Emotional inertia sometimes that's really hard to beat.

And I've had podcasts that run a long time handful of times. I'm uh uh happy, I don't want to be corny about it, but I'm very happy to get to be your friend and uh that's the name of that tune.
