I and then I feel like you want me to respond in a way like you're the way you're saying is a thing, but but often it's not. I was on Live Journal back in the nineties. Or the other Lincoln logs I just get handed Raffi again and I admire a kid who can not only find berries but And from off screen a person says, Lucy, where on earth did you get such a lovely hat? And no matter how many times you've seen a zoomed-in Hieronymous Bosch painting, I I'm prepared to say it's still gonna fucking blow your mind how upsetting Hieronymous Bosch paintings are And then they basically did a okay do over that season kind of didn't really happen.

It's not quite like SVU or Law and Order writ large level of oh my god that guy but there's s oh my god you know who's on there. You're not allowed to have a radio here. Michelle Trachtenberg is gonna be on and she's just gonna be in a shower of blood. with like a palazzo pant and a palazzo pant and like a matching vest like I'm not made of stone. for in some way that I've not even need to begin to diagram, has something like a crush on Robert Sean Leonard that I don't really understand. The one I'm not willing to talk about is Godzilla minus one. pretty kill a pig. You and Grandpa. Like I continue to find myself checking in on it. Like an idiot.

Given that there was a store, that also gave me a unique opportunity to make my own archival copy of many of his cartoons that I either hadn't seen or did not have my own copy of. And and the pants league league guy says three words, only fresh cuts. uh uh receiving some kind of uh hair care. and bald and then has very upsetting strings of hair and I'm gonna describe uh uh But then instead of handing me she well no, instead of handing me a train track or the uh uh other little pre-cut cookie Sh she does a head head tilt like a cat. The d Dig Dug challenge that most people have forgotten was to watch the stream, which was a 24 hours, not was, is, it's Yeah, yeah. This yeah, th this is part of the the ineffable because uh I d I doubt that's a good idea. What were you what what's your line of inquiry here? Grotesquery and consent. you'd see that there's a thing that doesn't have an arm, but has a screaming, like, puppet head and it's like yelling at this woman holding a vase and you don't know why, or it's just it's somebody with a butt for a face or whatever and it's like But she'd just be happy we have a hat.

Uh uh, which is uh I forget the name of it. w with myself. Let's just start at the most basic thing. And the character she plays in that is so funny. Uh with your permission, Alex. Which is would be a good title for something. There's also just like her, as you'll hear, no spoilers, like she, like Will Forte, she has an incredible, like uh unleashed crazy person voice. Jason Sudakis, um Kristen Wig, um, this is back when uh Amy Poller was still there, Fred Armison, Andy Sandberg. Because you uh m mastituted a I I think you I I I I don't know. things that made it redeemable in the Sandra. Yeah. Like when he did that. that I recognize. It's gotta be somewhere. I don't want to ruin this for you, but before we start watching this, this is old.

Again, I don't want to spoil it and I I don't want to tell you how to or not enjoy it, but because it's not my job here, but just so you know, he's a little bit of a nonconformist. What if one of those kids fell off the desk while they were captaining their captain? I have I rewatched Everything Everywhere several times when I first got it, but in the last year, have you rewatched it? I had a kind of this is him and and his and his late wife. But then you see, oh, is that a is that a a lizard or is that a bat? Oh, I broke it I think I figured it out.

You know, I'm doing I'm doing pretty dang well. haircut today and I wanted to send her there's so many good pants cartoons having to do with haircuts, uh which sounds crazy, but I can think of three off the dome. I should just collect all of the pants. Only two of which I can't. I think that th this is due to weekly challenge podcast with well sometimes weekly podcast with Merlin Mann and Alex Cox. As in at pants. You don't have to. think you've said this. And in this one, his little creature is truly horrific. So the head pants guy, who's making a wonderful gesture with his left hand. And you could tell he's like a little kid. The guy who's making the horrible cake with the pastry bag says, No more berries, Reuben.

Or or even building something with let's say a terrain set. I'm Raffian, I'm not sure what I'm doing right now, but I'm going to go swim in this cake. Or I point out another animal who I in my mix I I think that their face is saying, hmm, here's here's usually how they're saying it to me. Because I do like that it can mean whatever you think it should mean. But yeah, I don't have a super strong feeling about it. W at least w generally about once a day, just checking in. But no, no, sorry, you were it was with regard to the titular challenge that we're not talking about right now, you said I said I I I had no problem checking in, you know, about once a day and then what did you say? And to a lot of people Yeah, to a lot of people they just felt a certain way and I felt a certain way so like what Charlie stuck pretty quickly.

Yeah, that's that's what happens when you're left to survive in a dumpster as an animal, which not fair. He's he's the Zoy. Um but anyway, and so this little creature again, it looks like I don't know, almost like it's got and its entire body is an open wound. Uh like how would you describe the guy? Because I also do like tiny sock, but I'm gonna go with Danny Suck. Like this is maybe all he's been saying for an hour. But that's my feeling on this. Yeah, and we had a we had a long one last night, but I'm very happy to be here with you. Yes, some of them are about health, but a lot of them are about uh existence. uh painting uh from the early seventies uh a BBC series that's just uh this mind-boggling one and part of it is like there's this whole part of an episode where they zoom way in on a Hieronymous Bosch painting.

Because and I don't even know if it's for the same reason, but one of the things that makes her well, I mean, let's just get the one thing out of the way. My favorite that I'm trying to get to though. As cold as ice. Yeah, that was one of my favorite lines is like avoiding the histrionics of that. I like the anticipation of knowing I'm about to get a pants comic, I can feel your pants, the collar. uh a sketch from one of the times Hugh Laurie hosted SNL and it's such a terrific example of something and I I don't mean this to sound unkind, but SNL is like I don't know. But there's certain seasons of that cast where I'm just like, oh my God, they elevate every single thing. All all the worst people come up at the end to give a wedding speech.

Which is like four smart kids from this school have a quiz against four smart kids from that school. uh f footlights and it's it's Ben Elton and you don't know him but you know him um Emma Thompson Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry in 1981 I love Oh uh oh god that man aged in such a oh mmm Hey you like you like Grey's Anatomy Have you ever watched House? Did you watch the season? I I had a lot of trouble with what was expected of me as a human being after the COVID season. Boyfriend from like another life who works in the parking garage. That is maybe what got me initially into house. No question. But you know, she did just put she just did just put a spoon. And that led us then, so we ended up watching House because RSL's on that.

overrated. And as it happens, this is uh it's in one of those incoate decades that could be anywhere between the 30s and the 70s, but probably the 50s, probably the late 50s. old couple would say to each other is I had a kind of pie and it's a kind of pie I hadn't had in a long time and and I enjoyed it and what what kind of pie was that, Dell? Well Alexandra, now you're old enough to know the secret. Grandpa, what is happening? What kind of pie was that, Alexandra? Oh, a three year old human I should say. Really? Old trapper, old fashioned beef jerky, ten ounces. W a cartoon man with a cartoon of him what must have been forty or fifty years ago, like playing guitar on the bread on the outside.

to this to like for me coming into this and like, yeah, okay, I get it. The only things that exist are things that you became aware of six months ago. Who's gonna show up? Fucking incredible. Who's gonna show up and in what combinations? this. And I started getting that feeling you get sometimes of like you know, like, oh, do you do you ever like can you tell when somebody's looking at you? for a a recipe. you know, AdSense. I I I can see why people don't necessarily flock to it because there isn't like an amazing uh it's not a amazing quality like a lot of the short-term viral streams, but it's just Or like, you know, chronologically in this than you are. There can be s serendipity in that b banality of just oh yeah, just all the fucton uh the uh look another fuckton has appeared.

It wasn't that you necessarily struggled, but there was a lot of intention behind that. I also assume that you have all of the drill tweets because whenever some I don't know, you you're very fast. cartoons about haircuts can you think of off or or hair hair hair th that are hair centric. is one uh you know where it'll be like there's a genre of pants coming what we're talking about here I f I don't even know I I'm I could find out the person's name I don't care but there's a person who I knew on X or Twitter as you say as pants Doodles. No, y no Sometimes you say things and I I wonder if I'm supposed to react But now I am imagining dragons. It doesn't matter. And those went into the Apple application Photos.

That's my collection. Yeah. Both of these comics actually, just the phrase blow it out is subjectively funny. somewhat minimalistic style is there's plenty of room for whatever you sort of bring to it. Um and this one is an unusual one in several ways. And this little guy who's wearing he's he might I mean like he makes Dobby look like Heidi Klum. the one thing that it means because I I'll spoil the ending. I thought I might have more in here, but I guess I don't. The word of hm, I think changes drastically, not just with context, but with punctuation. are like more like I think what I'm I imagine what people read when they see that is, hmm Maybe if there was more M's. Well that's why I've standardized it to two.

It's something I I like movies about dreams and and I like talking about the ineffable. And it's it's different than when Savvy would make that face. I kinda keep it on all the time now. You can you don't have to like comment on them or anything, but I just I would make me happy to know that you've seen them. Decided. a lot of cats their names because they don't give a fuck. And I'm gonna do it in my voice. He could be like a watchmaker or something. And then the guy says, I can't make them any tinier. But in the pants culture, this is a Reuben-like character. I can't I can't make them I can I can also spanking. Burton Blassey. And like if she wanted to be like a straight, you know, like lady comedian, she could be funny just doing voices.

say my twenty twenty-four theme is to reach twenty twenty-three Maria Bamfort in terms of uh comfort. Got pretty good a pretend tiger. Very, very long time. Uh I I I don't know. Like Will Farrell with like dark glasses and long blonde hair as a Trump guy who talks like well like a Will Forte character does kind of like this a problem with this Obama in the White House. Oh God. With uh him and Dabicki and uh well most famously uh Tom Hiddleston, who's fucking terrific in it. loves house. Well, uh I don't. Yeah. Seven eighths of what the father character says, who is in a Tim and Eric sketch. Um, I'm gonna say a l a line. I don't I was gonna say I don't get it, but I kind of do. That sounds like a Robert Sean Leonard.

Because that's kind of there's like kind of a mention of like upbeat black music that's kind of like rock and roll, but it and then the guy the the two Normans make a radio and And Alex, I don't know if you remember this or if you had the ability to even be aware of this, but in the classroom where the Robin Williams character teaches, he has five different framed photographs of Walt Whitman. In the classroom. How many times have you re-watched Sucker Punch? time someone Sonnheim's that itself is something Sonnheim would not approve of. In um Mary Poppins, I think animated pigs do start dancing around. Oh god, they're so easy to train. Killer bread, no. It's called Mike's Killer Bread. in uh a southern part of Africa and uh I found it enchanting and and and even though that was however many weeks ago Yeah, like cute cute animal streams, right?

And I'll say a few of them now, even though I I I I don't think it's necessarily that that useful. I love stuff like that, but here's the thing, and like I I don't know if this is enough of a distinction for people to think this is worth my being interested in, but you don't know There's uh there'll be birds sometimes. You get wildebeests. And drinking water at the hole. being there for three weeks and it keeps coming up and you're trying to be cute. like bend to my will. recommend uh uh a service that yes is but it really does help people discover the show. kind of what you said of like oh there's something pop you don't know you you turn it on you don't know what it's gonna be and honestly a lot of the time in a way that it did become a little bit not boring but samey is like it usually is that that Thor comes on me in in the theater.

I believe that Tina's dad, Vince, and I have been friends for 32 years. like his whole body of work both downwards. f father-ish figure and then a bunch of like little guys who are hor horrible like little freak creatures A tradition my wife has followed through with with buying us pants things. And to make a decision about where I would spend my money on pants, I I w had to go and look on the store. And I wanted to send one where the the the pants lead man, the the the alpha dad with the mustache, is talking to the little homunculuses, and that's a lot of my favorites. It's but luckily I suppose there is only one Rafi, so eventually, you know, it'll disappear and I'll briefly panic like, oh fuck.

The novelty of me trying to do that is, I think, more amusing to her and it Everything's yeah, yeah. But I I I went f above and beyond for this challenge because I'm like, you know what? And my family has been discussing the line reading of this for at least three years. I hate sand is what you're thinking of. I think that Road Rash has been. Like I like carrying the the tackle box or you know I think it's fun to organize the nails in groups of five and you're like that was handy a little while ago and now we're doing a different thing. See it's so different. Hmm, hang on, you gotta trust me. Super buffet, hm nationwide insurance is not only a a a horrific creature, it looks like it's wearing a suit of itself.

I'm currently obsessed with this Netflix show about uh the the prehistory of Earth mostly, but like kind of dovetailing with the current world of Earth and oh my god, this called Living on Our Planet or something.

It's like when people saw trains coming at the camera and is that true? Okay, so is this the show? So i if we were making a cake, actually it when we made cookies, um, oh and Raffi has to be there. Oh, and it's very stodgy and it's very the holdovers and very Hal Ashby and And I'm like I hit pause, which then after that I'm usually it's taken away from me because I'm not even allowed to do administrative things with the remote when we're watching something. Oh, absolutely. Well but oh sometimes though there's like a I know it's a little perky. And they're really short. Uh I I I got a kitten and uh ran out of time. It was too much. Um pff it just on like w her doing funny voices and look no further than like her a guest I think it was two episodes maybe she was a guest on Arrested Development, probably uh pretty I think like third season or later.
