Figure out when you walk and when you dig. And uh neither I think both of us mean it as big praise, at least for me, is like I don't agree with I don't always a hundred percent agree with everything he says. But go ahead, I I changed the mix of the scarlet. You don't want to be sad. You didn't dry your filament enough, and that's why you've got bubbles. Uh now you know at least three people have touched your toilet paper. It's got little uh holes around both sides of the spool on each side, so you could run it through one hole, through the other hole, and it loops around, and sometimes that works fine. And it's a good idea. I'm jobbing in and out of the city. And you shoot it at and you go zoo, zoo, zoo, zoo, zoo.

I don't know what you call it. Like why does that stick come out of the other side? Like let's say you've started measuring something, you can reset your zero to whatever that is, and now you can do stuff like subtracting amounts of stuff from it. But when you're filling it, it's kind of a pain in the butt. I'm learning something every time I create and print something. Holy shit, god damn. But the writing on that show is electric. Flam fastened pan traps at both maiden apexes of the gym joints. She would go, what are you talking about? And I'll tell you where I got officially fucking mad about it was that dumb fucking talk he did in front of all the generals. It's not a bathroom, it's a head.

And that's the one that goes bum bum bom bom bam. I don't talk about Inutero, I don't talk about the GDB yet. And defaulting back to wondering what a bonus burger is. And in the analogy, every minute or two, you stop and dig a hole for 45 minutes. Let's say we go to like a dog walking area, like in that wonderful park near where I live, which is called Stern Grove. I think of red yarn when you say red yarn in the discourse in Mike that's and you say crazy wall. Or like, you know, but there was just all kinds of things where it's like, oh, this is just a little bit tonally off, where it sounds like you learned enough about this to get your paper in on time, but you don't really know what you're talking about.

And that's why I'm not bad that's why I'm not bad at it. And what's funny is when you try to talk about people, talk to people, I'm not just saying like to your partner, oh stop being so emotional. Do I sound proud of that? Now just so y'all know, if you're new to this, what the idea was, what they told us anyway, was you'll get a cramp, you won't be able to swim, and you will sink and die. Women shouldn't fly today when they're pregnant. But like there's all just all kinds of stuff for your. Uh boy I sure wish people would remember that the other part of ADHD, a huge part of ADHD if you're living it, in addition to the anxiety, is that sense of like ah, this is the thing I'm paying a lot of attention to now, and I didn't pick that.

What? Okay, Oh my god in heaven, I'm gonna have to change the pre PC mix because you're in a mood. They would use jokey calipers like the cosplay calipers. Oh, do I think that's a good idea? Yeah. Teenage Fan Club, um our new mix on Spotify. How thick is wall, as they say on Peep Show. Do you want to try and get by with two top layers? And I go, okay, well, it's really, really funny. Listen to the five. Oh, they look kinda like they kinda look like like almost like little thumb screws. Uh Do you have like a little bag you prepare for him? But no, like, you know, write it up. Uh microphone, right? Yes. There's a zhz That sounds right. But do you do the cables Why are you so worried about this?

Howard Honey? vent dampers to dampening hatch depths of one half meter from the damper crown to the spurve plinth. What's that called? Yeah. Tanch fan clubs like such a big deal for me. You're gonna be fat, you're gonna be gay, what are you gonna do? And then then then in the analogy I would say to you, Alex, we still really need to get to the picnic area. Where like there's times where like somebody just says a word and and keeps running and I'm like, well, you know, it's one thing for like, okay, that was bad usage, and it's another thing when you're To say did you ever make did you ever make crazy walls? Because they both work in the mailroom. I'm really gonna be super clear, there's nothing against any parents about this, but like can I just say like the last person in the world for all kinds of reasons?

in a very emo and this is how the whole seduction community works. how you got to where you are because of emotions. This is a thing that this whole class of stuff in a weird backdoor way comes up a lot, I feel like, on reconcilable differences, where I find myself having I find myself feeling like I need to say things Which I think much. We're talking about things. Like, oh no no, yeah, bad things are happening, but also like you you're not a bad person for wearing the frilly dress that can light on fire, but i God, I'm thinking more about spontaneous combustion than I have in a really long time. The things I put up with. Wait, I didn't tell you. About your calipers, because you Oh shit, I was just I just talked I just measured my wife title.

Always enjoy his videos and his uh d is this a humble brag and always enjoy his idea. I'm changing to more of you so I don't interrupt you. And looked at what? uh was able to get on his uh this is it would be a big deal if you let me explain the context and who Nancy Ferraro was, but that's okay. Deal. Um so David Star Codex, what is it you liked about you went back to that in his calipers? president not is good lord was the president of uh standford for a while i can't believe you don't know this and he just what okay uh because because so so lulu miller wrote about david star codex uh at standford All that eugenic stuff got taken in a slightly different direction. Fa what my favorite book of the last decade that I've talked about many times on this show.

I mean if you watch the Goebbels like movies from the 30s, which are pretty rough to watch, you know, you'll see like here's look look have you ever seen the ones like where there's the one about how Um so so um what what what what made you uh what was what was making you interested in that? Although it's technically still, you know, not too soon. But they don't understand context. One of my favorite songs of all time. Whether it's new or not, it grabbed me. Uh she's song on Horseshoe Crabs at the Sun, which is a song from like 2015, but like I was just obsessed with it last year. I'll need to ask Merlin, so it was on the list to ask. It was what's interesting though, it's a video that was entirely sponsored by this one company that makes filament.

several times, etc. Well, t okay, so TPU is a I would just think of TPU as like a melty plastic that's like a rubber. uh like all things with context, you get them for different kinds of performance characteristics, limitations, abilities, and then like as all with all of these things, especially in 3D printing, there's usually a bunch of trade-offs to like So like you've got when you get a 3D print of something, like let's think of something like, I don't know, like a cup or a or like a pot for a plant. I don't recommend this generally, but like if you wanted your final product for something to really have some heft to it and if you're making like a toy Boy, I am so fucking laid. and taking a lot of unnecessary amounts of filament.

And the sidewalls, you pick all that stuff. on the secret brit list. But if I have to keep explaining the concept of what a secret Brit is each time I mention secret Brits, it's not actually that fun. You know, I keep them in these one liter, I think one liter cereal boxes with, you know, desiccate in 'em. And then at a higher level than the bottom of the the the the you know the spool, it sticks to there. I would love to hear what you know about cable management that I could learn from. 'Cause you know like Thunderbolt cables have a lot of technology in 'em. Those are the ones that came free with your iPhone 10, 15 years ago. And which usually has I don't know if it I say usually, but I think that the good ones usually have a lightning bolt on them and usually have a number on them, the good ones.

And uh Oh my god, it's it's insane. I would test every cable I've got to make sure it does what I think it does, honestly, before I packed it. That's a normal kind sorry, not Thunderbolt three. If you need to plug into the person's wall charger, um l like when they uh we'll often stay at people's houses and uh for whatever reason. The to oh I'm just gonna do some of that. F your long Thunderbolt four cable. this thing. and how it would be nice if those ends didn't get all fucked up. And in my case, like so right now I'm looking at a USB-C and an Apple USB-C, which is, you know, got the thing and then the little tapered dealy. and then the cable. if I wanna like do something with paracord to make a longer paracord of something.

But to do that, you have to seat that cable in a slot in the middle, right? fully just because a lot of little bits inside go hold up a USB C in your hand right now, right? phrase and the and then people are like that's really ugly and I'm like I don't I don't care. Yes. I measured her pinky. uh sorry, um sort of uh true zero versus absolute or versus like contextual zero. And isn't that clever? And as long as we're here, by the way, the bird buddy is back up. I hadn't said anything to you and Kelsey. So I waited, I I I did a few weeks off, a couple three weeks off of bird feed. You fill it from the back and the top, and then it all goes down into the part where the feed goes, like where the birds get to it.

Like I wanted to know what the size of the floor of my office freezer is. Now you're suddenly with that one very obvious thing, you're suddenly into a different amount of stuff that you're trying to figure out. And another set of calipers that are kind of one of those no name six letter Amazon ones. Fucking ball like h hey kids. It's a good thing. Help but it the context made the joke funny. Two months ago thinking about starting to dress like a flag and uh have some funny pictures of Pete Hegseth. And then I said, I prefer halyard honey. Can only speak to that. I The short F word, not the long the long F-word I haven't said in probably a year and a half now. the ministry song that goes that's the one that goes Bopy Bop Bop and he goes Why can't they see that just like me?

I'm talking about I'm talking about Jesus Lizard, I'm talking about Silkworm, I'm talking about PJ Harvey. In her backyard. And get spot if you're Kara No, Jesus Christ. I think I and I you know, I was trying to do that. And I have no idea how you get something. The caffeine is kicking in. Like if somebody says something that they didn't know something to you, don't go, oh, I'm so surprised you didn't know that. that you don't know you know Big Star from probably is a TV show on Fox called That Seventy Show. you know, still like a band playing like venues around Rockford or whatever. I s I'm not sure how to say his name and if you go and then look at uh uh look at what's it's it's different documentaries you say it so it sounds like the English word room.

This week's challenge is to decide when to dig and when to walk. What is it we'd like to add at this point to explain what that means? It's a d i it is a ball sack. And what I said was, I said, Alex, just keep walking. And for some reason I kept thinking of Atari twenty six hundred uh pitfall. Where I'd said oh oh the bonus burgers. have a bunch of red string while they're trying to figure out something. The Pepe Silvia is just how he reads the word Pennsylvania and how fucking funny that is. He's working in a mail room and he doesn't understand the word Pennsylvania. But that's what makes it funny is he keeps saying this name keeps coming up. I'm frustrated now just because That's a shame. Parmesan, Parmesan, Parmesan, Parmesan, Parmesan, Herpes, Herpes, Herpes, Herpes, Herpes.

There were other but there were numerous that's context. Like to really make the point of something, it helps to use to explain it clearly to people with the right words. I don't think we say that anymore. Still use chat GPT and one w and the woman saying Sam Altman literally murdered she said this. Yeah, I'm like these things. Uh hurt f like uh oh yeah, I've been uh I haven't looked yet. And the the people who are most hurt by it are uh and the people who get most emotional uh uh no one is interested in hearing. or stick in front of a microphone is two parents who just lost their kid, and then to ask them to explain how they lost their kid That's not where you should be getting your psychosis news.

Um at the time. That was really a moral panic. And yet, the stronger an emotion we feel about something, the more often we tend to believe that that's how it is. And that's it's and I'm not even trying to be like some kind of fucking rational debate me about it guy. Me and you for different reasons, we've been emotionally gaslit for our entire life and told that it's unseemly to mention that we don't like being gaslit. Fe I want to make sure that i i're saying uh uh or I'm see, uh this is where I dig uh dig in again because People hear that and they hear you want to say slurs. And like that's a fixed event in time in a Doctor Who way and that's all whatever. And all those names that we don't like, people used to be called that name by people like me and by other people, like nice people, used to use those words.

uh hurtful. And anybody who's ever heard me talk about that before you talk about that before could very easily say that and I understand why. I mean honestly, like the I honestly do feel the traumatic experiences of locker rooms and gym class. It's unlocked a lot of Can you imagine that can you imagine your mom, your mom, your size sixteen mom with her swimsuit? of can you fucking believe that? who don't believe how much something used to just be a certain way. I ev remember I I I think I talked about this on the show. Because of or in spite of. Because right now we're in the hard part. Here's where it gets complicated. Now listen, don't actually do that because guess what? Please believe me that that was true.

They're like, oh, that's ins that's insane. Guys, like wait fifteen uh remembering like wait fifteen minutes or you can't play with the pool noodles if you just say because they were little boys and they'd puke on one another. Yeah, you have to look this up. He was by an oxygen tank that wasn't properly sealed up, uh, but he was sitting and he spontaneously combusted. with John Belushi as a hunchback. Right? The when, I can't wait. Oh, um let me check your notes. I'll fix them right. VoIP? He's really good at that. He is my acquaintance. And they've changed the game. Facts are useless without context. I'm I guess parks are great. what's required to like graduate from the college I went to, you've got to But that's context.

Now was that a bit or was it Was it a bit, Alex? Corporal context. I think, at least kind of into phrenology. I was always very upset by those images in uh books, you know, in of in the thirties, uh you know. Because our friend Max used to say and and apparently he forgets bits now too. and uh operate a set of calipers, like you're at the Magic Castle and a Jew comes in and you want to like measure him. Is this this is the show, right? 34 of my favorite songs because I panis panicked last week. Y there's probably at least one song a year that heavily influenced you, so you should have a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of YouTube really, really knows me.

Oh my god, I also gotta talk about Tubi. The wor uh yeah. See, th that is a song probably. that certain filaments like PCTG can go wrong, even though it's a fucking amazing filament if you got the right environment for it. I'm not y I'm not using anything. I would have to sell my car every time the ashtray is awful. It's a really different world than the monoprice. At least that's got the closed chamber, but I'm not even a weirdo. What you need versus what you get, you know what I mean? uh between the walls where you can decide how dense that needs to be. And you could think of it just this just for practical purposes, think of the shape of a cup. And the two of the main characteristics of that from a 3D printing standpoint are the number of walls and the amount of infill.

uh come from something that Zach mentioned in that video. fill between the side, you know, and all these things. you know, extruder nozzle, but they are very resistant to the stuff that m makes most nozzles die. This doesn't get that as much and if you do get a clog, you can clean it and it's not all fucked up and burnt. With very minimal amounts of extra effort and that's been making me happy. You know, or like today I was posting about an album from 1989 that I like a lot, and I I avoided the kinds of things that I used to worry about, of like feeling like I need to explain thread. Which consequently makes the s previous loops around the spool become loose, and then guess what? Yes, this is how many uh rolls of packing tape are disturbed.

Can yeah. Yeah, but m more no more importantly, there is a a reason that you fold or roll XL car cables in a certain way. Cat 6A, but then when you start getting up to like w if you get like a recent HDMI cable, it's like a fucking rope. With a point size that's absolutely incredible. I realize this sounds like an old guy complaint, but and it is, but so every time I have to look at Adongas to determine Uh yes, exactly. what it is, I take my identipen and I write the wattage right on there so I can read it without glasses. type of cable is, if I know. And I'll try to tell you what the type or color should be. The good ones will have a four and a lightning bolt on 'em. you know, from behind for my Mac.

a certain um a Thunderbolt four hard drive. for ever and I don't know why. Uh I I don't travel an anymore either usually, but Matthew does a ton, so I have kept up on all of the strategies. People's houses are like hotel rooms, which is why every place should have I know it's a bit, but really Documentation. you know, problem of like the cable that came with your phone, like you've plugged it in and out so many times that the end with the 30 pin jack on it is all f is starting to fray. This is what the little cables inside phones have around them. The plastic part, I've melted parts of the like by doing it too long. I have a lot of problems. Yeah, you s you say I don't do the challenges and then uh You say a lot of things.

Or be racist in the U. in millimeters, inches, or fractional, fractions of uh inches, like you say, okay, I need to see how wide this the diameter of this thing is. They don't measure very accurately. And it remembers what it's zero is. Which seems so simple. The You could screen is good now. Some of it is calipers. He's frustrated that they didn't like his Florida State Seminole Vesicals joke. uh flag hag, we don't say that anymore. configuration is that what you're talking about? No, all I've seen is the ball one and it was Oh shit dog. The Merlin. Because I'm like, okay, it's not what are th the ropes not the ropes called lines on a on a ship they're called lines. Oh, that was a long time ago.

This is our second worst episode, so it's been an hour. Yeah. There's two great words. Right? I mean, have you been to a concert venue? We um I I really enjoy his work. Here comes Jane, you know, she's sporting a chain. Ah la the Ed Spacium mix of Tim, I heard. Um no no no was here is the context. You sent me uh uh left on the on the after show last week I soft pitched Alex on some Canadian bands and I And it was still a very interesting playlist, which is why I enjoy all of your music recommendations. by playing the beginning of um uh that cheap trick song. It no that's that is what it is called. are all pretty good, including that uh album I sent you this morning. Thank you, thank you. that I mean the the funds that have always stuck out to me still stuck out to me Neil Young um Sonic Youth But the jingly guitar uh you know there's still the jingly guitar, but there is also then the emo guitar tone in a lot of and I'm like hella this is why this is why also because it's sad uh uh Big Star in some ways.

They I think they're definitely seen as as progenitors of what became shoe gays, even though they're not a shoe gays band at all. If I heard the well, I did hear i them without any context and never would have We talked about the story. Last week you said Ernst Rome, but see I don't even know if I'm saying I still don't know what I'm saying about. Hmm, a tendency sounds like a criticism. I I think it's an unusual sort of thing to get hung up on, but like where you'll like you get really there was one recent well, it was one last week As you look back on your life or your time or your week or your day or whatever it was, are there times you dug when you should have walked and times when you walked when you should have dug?

The problem is it's not always a good idea. that they're just thinking of right now and it's gonna it's gonna be made to sound like something they've been thinking about, but actually it's something they are making up right now. It's worth and I you know I absolutely agree. About Crazy Walls, that's not Phil Gyford's Crazy Walls, which is fine, because maybe he didn't want to be interviewed. would associate that concept with. But like why would you not ground that in something like that? Just as a gr no, not because it's the most interesting example. Maybe because I'm looking for treats or calipers. There whether you realize it or not, you know, you there's an image that you've seen. clip of him saying, I'm trying to figure out who this Peppy Sylvia is or whatever the line is.

funny this is like how the the clanker uh meme was so funny oh my god do you remember do you remember the clanker meme oh my god you remember skibbity clanker threads. Yep. Yes. The three of us, you mean? And I know Can can you give an example of that in context? I you could talk about co-incidents, but that doesn't mean that's what caused it. starts talking some shit about something and you're like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Uh it's it's a uh typical yeah I mean it's a hospital chasing like it's or ambulance chaser or whatever. t t to improve my relationship with Jesus. Me and you. there is nothing like s they should stop thinking about. The way that we, and this is why I was saying like trauma, the way that trauma leaves kind of an invisible mark on you that is not visible to others and is not strictly visible to you, but you definitely feel it which very quickly gets transformed into personal truth, how much belief in the world came out of an event with a very that had a very strong emotion.

in getting them how they are and emotions are about the last thing in the world that they would problematize in order to get to how it is that they quote, believe something. Yes, because that's why I'll get hung up on something as silly as a burger joke, because I I just want I mean talk about trauma. Anger comes out of heartbreak. And if you act like that didn't happen, you're the fucking bad person, not me. If you don't know about it, and then because you're also you're basically telling somebody else that their life didn't happen the way that it did. with sexual and gender minorities. you know, it didn't say the end w I'm sure that I sang along and said the end word dur to like rap sock. I haven't I haven't changed I haven't changed.

Well just don't be a don't be a provincial dick who just speculates about what's real. that you have to wait half an hour after eating to go swimming. Now here's where it gets complicated. You know you don't need to wait half an hour. Here's we're in the complex hallway now. not to put butter on a burn. Now we get into that corridor again. Because if women are on any means of conveyance that can go faster than, I don't know, something like 10 or 20 miles per hour, they'll lose the baby and probably die. A flame. simply comparison for the cultural sort of response to AI in that um there were even no I I I am uh well actually possibly but I'm saying that like even if you go Um one I didn't know was that so m much clothing that women wore were it was extremely flammable and because it was, you know, light and airy.

Mm-hmm. but of women dying via um f dying from some results of their clothes being caught on fire, which is both really funny and really horrifying and tragic. Um and th those are the ones that were r reported from eighteen thirty to nineteen hundred. was be this he was uh but he replayed it just as Steve Martin, the Theodoric of York, and he would treat people in all these like crazy, like medieval ways. and uh was a lot of leeches and it's it's a very funny bit. But nowadays we know that Isabel is suffering from an imbalance of bodily humours, perhaps caused by a toad or a small dwarf living in her stomach. Um, did you notice or is there anything else you want to share about this? And then when I do the bits you don't aren't always into like making it into like a good bit.

You know, uh, you know, take some naps and and just try to be nice to each other. Which thing with the gay alien, right? No, that's not funny. Oh, that boring, huh? I don't. What parts are you uh you literally do. Interact with and how you interact with it. More about um what's I don't know his first name, but um Star Jordan No, but it was when I was listening. I wish. Was he because I know there's I know there was well, I mean I know there were a couple big names in the early part of the century where it was still imprisoned, let's call it, and he would show like what this Slavic Jew looks like in his stripy uniform, and then here's what this Slavic Jew looks like when he dresses up to pass as a human being in Europe.

Oh, absolutely. They're not yet ordered. It was uh and you say so again, now you say to somebody, like my favorite song this year is Tri-TV by the Cindy's, which is with context, I could say, well, what I mean is that's a song that came out of nowhere to me. I think that's why you should be able to have at least fifty favorite songs because you know Porsche Crabs is by uh the band Hopalong. By the yeah, yeah, yes. Yeah. Um a lot has happened since that printer came out and it's it's not inexpensive to get the kind of printer setup I've got, but um You know, be careful with ABS, because it makes a stank and it's not good to do that. Not there's like I don't want to say nothing, but like if you imagine printing a cup, well there's gonna be a big area in the middle.

one of the most popular kinds of like high impact plastics for, you know, for for actual, you know, products in the world. Um, because it's it's all well the reason you choose different filaments and filaments are just the stringy stuff that you melt to make things out of on a 3D printer. Also because you get into a subject that most people learn enough about to be dangerous, which is infill. where you want it to have some good hand feel to it, you might do it in a fill a heavier, denser filament and you might do it at a higher infill rate. I printed pretty spongy, with not particularly thick walls, and a pretty spongy amount 'cause if you use too much infill with TPU, it loses a little bit of its uh high level rubberiness.

So like there's one kind of filament where usually your filament's like too wet, but like if you don't wrap your filament up tight enough Understandably, don't get or misunderstand because maybe not everything's for you, and I can't make everything for everybody. Are those clips I I am happy to tell this is this is very, very boring stuff, but I'm more than happy to talk about it because I have nowhere else to discuss it and I love you. other layers of filament and now you broke your whole roll because how are you ever going to figure out where the end of the roll was supposed to be? holds it tight against the entire roll and so it helps maintain uh the characteristics of spools that give it away.

A good way to do your Apple uh iPod style corded, you know, headphones. You ever when's the last time you looked at an Apple dongus to see how many watts it was? Because I'm gonna talk, I'm gonna talk hex for a minute here because to my eyes, it looks like E-E-E E on CCC. Um there's a way that I still would do that for small, thin cables. All from from like uh the basic chaos of the fifty percent chance you get in a USB A, right? Uh white gaffer's tape is a Thunderbolt 4 because it is uh four. But uh but it depends what you're into. like as in like you know full-on electrician type stuff, but you can use it for all kinds of cables. I'm seeing it and I am recognizing that I've seen this out in the wilds, but have never participated.

One use of this. So in that instance, you put one of those at each end of a beloved cable when you get it or when you want to like maintain it, and that will keep your ends from getting all bent up. Okay, but I But there's more. You know, like any of those classic you remember the things like remember back in the day you could get those like USB minis with the USB A on the other side and it would be inside of a little zzzh like a little over the middle of it and do that. of your things, you would not only make them stronger, but you would add a color-coded thing that's not just gaffer's tape. Or there's the other ones on top that look the same but they're in reverse. These calipers though because pretty much all electronic calipers do what I'm describing.

successfully measure the inside of something like you gotta do a reversy you need to do math. The twenty dollar ones. uh bought on uh oh my wife and Matt Howie's birthday October 10th. Right? Um, kind of. But I don't. Then pin. Full spread. And Oh, the the beautiful Tony Robin style. You know? Nothing against Storm, but you know, Paul's the main guy. Art flags. Not Easter. You know, if you were uh have you ever thought, you know, I think if you brought your caliper attitude to producing for bands or or maybe just being like a roadshow manager, you could help a lot of people. Uh he produced a lot of people. Nah, maybe another outlier. Because I don't know who I talked to about music. Yeah. I I just I told you that I puttered around a number of uh their albums just using s uh Spotify's like it would Top top ten kind of thing.

Yes. guessed that. Hmm. Where have you been for decades? That's why I appreciate you. But the idea was in the analogy, which I will now explain to you, in the analogy in my head, it seems like I am imagining me and you walking Fuck me. Another thing is it's not red string, it's fucking red yarn. That's really fucking funny. that hook which is in order to get people to listen to m to more podcasts. Uh it was funny for like two minutes. And that's far enough away, I guess, that it's okay for us to look at that with some distance and like, you know, have seen how how it turned out the way we look at it. And I if I were being real dumb about this and trying to explain this to a dumb guy in a loud bar, I would say just because we've stopped using the N-word, please don't act like that's something people have never said. can probably remember they've been called the N-word. I I've got I've got donguses from companies I like where like it'll say like in tiny letters like 50 watt, 30 watt or whatever, like the anchor ones, the little plugs, and like sometimes one of them just doesn't work for anything I think you just prepping for the your f And you recognize it if you've ever played in a band.

No, there's still a hole there. Is uh oh it's got Now are you asking yourself why does Merlin need calipers? There's more there's more there's more guns than people in America and that's what we're worried about. Whether that's trauma or whether that's worried about trans people or AI or whatever it is, look at how many people are so fucking angry. And I'm not real quick. And I I I showed her how these calipers work that they can do uh usually most people would think of calipers I think you look at and you go, Oh, I can see how you would use that to measure the outside diameter or width or whatever of something. Well that's so that you can measure the depth of something. Do you fear them? He produced PJ Harvey. You open with Charlie Day and Pepe Silvia. So is that real? And that emotion I feel, I speculate, the emotions that people feel about these things endure But you can't if you you can't if you I mean like and you you may say like oh Merlin has calipers, that's funny, and calipers is a joke about the 30s and measuring Jews.

I like to thank people for contacts. I've ch I my game has changed with a button. And the only the other one works fine. Don't make people feel bad for not you knowing how to use the remote. That's the noise. It's easy not to dig. But it also has another neat feature that I haven't had a use for yet that's really cool, which is uh absolute versus uh So in that case, I needed to make I knew I chose to make, because again, whether or not it's useful or interesting or fun to post about. My goodness. There's a thing Syracuse said a million years ago.

Well it feels you feel it feels to me like you are very confident about your memory and your memory is almost singularly unreliable in ways that are hard to understand sometimes. But a thing that you do sometimes, which is like you ask questions or you get the phrase I would use, and forgive me if this sounds disparaging, is you sometimes get a little bit hung up on something that Because for people of my grandmother's age, that is absolutely what you do for a burn. Like it's one thing to go like, oh yeah, Merlin and John listen to albums, but Billy and Alex don't listen to albums. Which is uh Bursting into flames. Let's sort my parts. Well they can be useful, like if it's how to get out of the way.

So talk a little bit, please. But then the other one's not moving down 'cause you can't have seven favorite songs. Exactly, exactly. Like what are your top and bottom layers going to be like? And you know, the day the week one stuff is wow, this takes a really long time to print and used like half of my spool. So I made a little gate for it, which seems not very complicated. Two of their big albums, it doesn't matter. I I don't care. It is i it's unfamiliar. That's when I start digging. Yeah. I don't have a problem with it. It it's hurtful. Um and I I'm I'm gonna try not to be dramatic about these, but the dr drama comes not off out of how strongly I feel about it, but how frustrating it is to me that there are people Do I want do I want an AI companion for this call?

I would really like to know the context of the calipers, and I kind of went back and read Looked at s David Starr that's his name, David Starr Jordan. It's in like 13, 8 time. And in each one of these instances it's something near the opposite of what you'd expect. He doesn't really need to put his little P on all the tweets. I don't no no no. So did it hurt? Well I I was going to say you could use that twenty-five dollars to support your pain. And it shrinks to the smallest size it can for whatever it's on. And now is that the other thing. I'll send you mine so you can see. I said, No, no, no, no, no there's a certain kind of blue suit that I associate with MAGA people, but you now see regular people wear.

I'm I'm not saying I didn't say anything either. Uh androgynous is one on my favorites. I don't wanna go in through that. Uh exactly. Th there were numerous other points in that, as with other kinds of like trend pieces. The guy I mean I can just tell from hearing it that's not a real name, but he is a bit he was That's still in your car in that's in your trunk in the garage of your other car, is that right? Yes. Like maybe Pixies are good actually. But you also like them to give you context for what the screenshot is. And I I I'm I'm I'm self-involved enough to and I I will say this sometimes publicly and always privately. And when you tell me and them that that never happened, you know you're hurting?

It's it's aching. Uh yes. And halyards are the little pulleys that help you raise up a flag, or how I learned about it, the mast on a ship. It's not a door, it's a port. You don't you don't need to dig there. Anyway, just bug me. But uh no, I dig I dig. I'm I am biased because this uh firm the one of their locations are i is in Chicago and they Your body was not allowed to be back in the water for at least thirty minutes, and of course it depended on who said it, but you were not allowed to swim for half an hour after you ate. It's actually not only not a good treatment for a burn, it's very bad to put butter on a burn. Like you don't want to be Theodoric of York. She wrote a book that featured him heavily.

Here's the thing. Because did you realize you probably did not realize you saw my tweet or whatever about that. And I Well see for the hockey guys for the hockey guys it's the billets. Um and it came up because I I I was we were doing the after show and I was doing that thing where I talk fast and say things and I was I was uh having fun with Alex because Alex was saying something and I was talking about that You sent me something this morning and I didn't click on it. You don't it's not an Oh it's insane. There's a lot of bullshit advertising that works like this, which is your first impr makes somebody's first impression of something very strongly emotional. In my health class, they also said, you know what?

And so what I said to our friend Max was, you need these. It also has it also has a great uh turning on sound on Apple TV. You could do you could do six hop layers, which might be too much, depending on do you need to sand it and stuff like that? Mm-hmm. Yeah, that's the zh. Absolutely. I love that actor. Kind of like a lot of people. And if you don't just keep talking, Rylan. Really fucked up. But it would be so fucking ugly and dumb for me to act like shit that happened in my life didn't happen because somebody else finds the language about it. Women were discouraged from riding on trains and other fast means of conveyance, all kinds of travel, really, when they were pregnant. Yes, sorry. And um there was a fireman.

What what changed the game of the game? I got fss I got seven more to go. They would dress up. Okay, so first of all, here's a photo. But then what's interesting is he's using um the one of their S tier very cool filaments to basically he does a quiz, a test, if you like, see if you can figure out I have to go yeah, I have to go to the accessibility triple click on my phone, zoom all the way in. And um I needed a lo one that was slightly longer than the one I had and I it was I think I got an Apple one and it was cost This is I no longer have a long Thunderbolt four cable 'cause it or I I have it 'cause I have the delusion that maybe it will work the right way and because they're like a hundred dollars for more than like three.

That's not difficult. Um the the uh But you are talking about the Donnelly nut spacing and the crack system rim rim riding grip. It's gotta stop. And and Merlin, not just two grieving parents, but the lawyer who uh Anger comes out of entitlement. Because you know that, because I know that, because our friend the listener right there with the headphones, very good-looking person, knows that. But like we we we because we rationally have a settled version about something today I mean people love to talk about the hyperactivity part and the inattention part, but Jesus Christ. Alright, I'll do it right now. Okay. I went to college with a guy. No, I wouldn't want to be sad. Or that's why it's sizzling when it comes out.

Because I think w one way to think of it is it it's having trouble remembering what zero is. Fear of a black ball? Alright, let me let me go to my bl this you know what? It's usually she's she's usually small and Jewish and wears black and she hangs out with groups of gay men and they drink Amarota Sours. Maybe somebody can buy it for you. Don't s don't state. Well, I'm just I'm just utilizing what they've given me. It's reminding me of pitfall where you gotta jump over holes. Let's get back to first principles. That's like that's like saying I died of starvation from using a computer. Like I don't there's there's all kinds of things I don't use for other things. Is that not real? Okay. No. And I'm like, listen, it's a very simple context.

Um and you can pick different patterns and different maker pro um maker fares, they give free and different um percentages. I don't I I feel this is another one where uh it feels ghoulish to talk about No, it's all right. I've got a copy of it. My my pitch to people on 13 is uh I'm like, why do why do I like this? A cynical person would say no one has ever no one has ever quote gotten quote psychosis from using a computer. Because that's what people hear. Hmm. He was super nice. So I printed out ten of these and I was just assembling them while I while I talked to you. I understand. Uh well actually six letters. That is the perfect Urrh like just editorial uh yeah, no, you said it It really feels like there are people who go into this, like saying, Oh my gosh, I wonder if I can get this thing to tell me to take heroin.

And if you don't remember it, good for you, but everybody who ever got called the N-word It doesn't mean that I I'm angry about it all all the time or uh upsetting, but like a thing that we will talk about is She was like, Well I'm a better person for him. VoIP. And um so but TP TPU is interesting. So I'm writing that under tubi. I only have three. Uh I don't I don't know why that one r side works. No, because if you count an ear then it's five if unless you well it depends what you're into. You can take this tubing before you've heated it, you put it you get the right size that'll fit over your dongus, but still be a decent diameter for your thing, for your cable. It's like looking at cars going by and not getting into any of them.

I stopped doing the bird buddy for a couple weeks because I was worried about it. Florida State Seminole vesicles? Is it wait no no, no? I think probably more than you more than I might say or admit, I totally agree. You can keep talking about AI. You know the thing you'd hear when you were a kid about how barbers were also doctors at a certain time. When when are you a walker? Every time. What do you think changed? If you just say facts, I mean I don't know. Uh uh USB USB three and uh what is USB three? Mainly it's mainly Paul. Al Jorgensen his name is. And then I would explain it and then you'd ask again later and you were still mad about it. That's not that's not the point. I got two things.

I understand what it's for. But you it's difficult to talk to people about stuff like that that you do have some one does have some subtlety on because I keep bringing up emotions, don't I? If if you make the wrong kind of joke, like and every and all the Bill Maher start agreeing with you, like that may not that may not be the best leading indicator, but Um that happened to a friend of mine. Well now see now we create a pressure for ourselves. I'm engaging with you. I'm not a weirdo about this like some people are about ABS, but even Zach says this, like Mm-hmm. This is the the issue like you s you said with cable and with Are there any safety precautions? No, I had a I saw one rat and I thought, oh, I I don't want to get rats.

I've got three piles. I was really proud of that. If you're the sort of notional or old person who doesn't know about a USB A 5 watt not being enough to power your Mac, how would you even know from looking at it? Everyone wants to change. Just cause I I look at Inuterro and the Gotta by Voices album as kind of like outliers. Um, there is 401, that's all. Context. It's much more Neil Young. Yep, no, no, don't know. You know who loves that is civil rights, black black civil rights people in their eighties. I would I would with all respect I would doubt that she's a good person because of that. And what we know now is that that is not true. And when you tell when you people like me get really dramatic trying to say it because the most seemingly quotidian things in the world you say to people, Um, a running bit in the 70s on SNL that some of you older folks will remember was a running bit with Steve Martin called Theodoric of York.

I want it to be status. Oh no, which is Chernus Not Into Temptation? Oh yeah, I'll send you a photo. Well, it's a very, very unusual video for him, and you can tell he's sort of like working it, but it's it's it to call it an infomercial is not fair. Because you know what's neat? I have three other sets of these, and they work fine except for one thing. And then you go and you click on the shows up. That might be why I never knew Yeah, never seen that show. So you you learned about last week you learned about Teenage Fan Club, a band from uh band from uh from Scotland. It must be interesting to have the memory you have because you have the confidence of someone with a good memory. What are the things that would immediately come to mind to you when you think of that?

Alex is mine. So he's created an entire wall to try and solve the mystery of who this Pepe Silvia is. Because if you're gonna talk about cre what I would call, as Phil Geifard calls it, crazy walls, if you're gonna talk about a crazy wall, what is the one thing that everybody who would be interested in hearing about this It's something where somebody t is is it something is it is it as with mine, is it something where somebody Yes, spontaneous human combustion. A lot of rabbit holes. Gobbler The Suing Man to Pretty Nose. Do you know I'm talking about movies with Mike I You know what I'm talking about? Yes, it's by a lot of people who got a got a certain idea about it. And it's really well done.

Marlene, what's the context of ABS? I don't think we've have we ever talked about cable management because that might be one of you know how like I am with my apparatus and I can't or or my dick and I can't really talk about it And it it's there there's an issue though, because with So like if I want to create if I want to make something or I want to change something. And um That's one of the funniest clips I've ever seen. Just what you've seen the first scene, right? I mean maybe back in the day exactly. I start digging. That's part of what makes it a moral panic. And but my problem is I was there. Okay, so cotton things or wool things. Well, I mean like I don't know sometimes but no I can see you're performing for others and like I don't know if I'm really needed for that Well she didn't say my vagina's throbbing.

Whatever it is. Bisexual, well, he would say pansexual and bisexual you mean what? I mean, you know, like Walt Whitman was really into uh And uh since none of you will watch it, I'll spoil one of the tests, which is why did this Okay, okay. My one Thunderbolt cable only for some reason uh works to my Mac uh from my Mac to Because this seems like a very helpful melt the cable, for example. You could just cut it off. I have not had uh I have never had an experience where somebody treated you like the help. He produced Pixies. Listening to Dakota Ring today, and there's so many times during this episode where I was like, I don't think that you mean And what they don't say, but you figure out if you pay attention, is Charlie's confused.

Well, I mean, you know, maybe one way to put it also is that, you know, talking to somebody and trying to give them a point of view that But I I can't find the l the quote, but there was one time because it always ended with him saying something about um let's see. And the new thing's definitely not a crazy thing. Peter P you you love Family Guy. That I got a game changing set. I did not like, did not say like. I mean it's you know it's yeah yeah. That's yes, that was the No no, just because that's one where like this year that popped up, like last year To be and then what else did I write down? And there's a difference between analog and digital cables. Hey, Alex. What's the matter, Alex? Oh well we're definitely gonna watch that together.

And now the blue suits have gone the blue suit thing has gone too far. If you smoke clove cigarettes and listen to Cocteau Twins, you're an art flag. So Leslie Claret did that. Um most of the questions. Do you want Steve Albini to have to worry about how to I know it was really sad. Yeah. Uh nope, David Star Jordan. But you know, he was a pioneer in eugenics and uh had some interesting ideas regarding eugenics and fish. They're little computers. They're still pretty costly. You know what I'm talking about? It's very good. That's not what psychosis is. It doesn't have to be that. I should also say that swimming saga, um Just like that doesn't make sense. But but but but nowadays we know that Isabel is suffering from an imbalance of bodily flu humours, perhaps caused by a toad or small dwarf.

Sure and it's not an temptation. I'm not listening. No. What does that mean? I've watched that video. And it the very important characteristics of that are things like, you know, what the shape of it was g is gonna be, how the inside and outside walls are made. I had a cousin who tore his ball sack trying to do a skateboard trick. I'm frustrated you didn't like my hell your joke, but we've all got it. I think he he at one point, maybe on his forum or whatever, was like, you know, I was actually kind of a dick, you know, what I said about Surfer Rosa, you know But then sometimes you realize you don't want to go to the picnic area. I dig holes all the time, and I know it. He's working in a m he's working in the mailroom.

My grandfather used to say there's good diggers and bad diggers. People hear the sad dramatic part. Well, a similar thing can happen with just all kinds of emotions. But it sounds um uh you're you call it a voip, but And that's called infill. That's what I think every time I see it. Can I just lay it out for you? I was just like, And no, you may not be my flag hag. And you did that because of the consonants of the H sounds, the H as you say. Which would be amazing because that's my favorite. You sent me a uh starter playlist for um Big Star. The easy part is it's not like that anymore. But uh quote unquote, nobody believes that anymore. I'll do it right now. Oh shit, really? I think you can have a lot of things.

So w I print out uh 3D print c uh cable holders for those that I can like spool stuff up in for certain kinds of medium-sized long cables. Because I I I made it mostly just for you. That's very good. You can just walk past and then you don't need to dig. I'm like, what word was used wrong? And then they could play a clip so that the insiders would instantly up a quick What are you talking about? Uh absolutely You've changed. Every time. In fact, I've been waiting to ask you. It's a book by Lily Miller about David Stark and X. Like monoprice, man, like it comes with fucking ABS. Is because a lot of secret brits are not even British. You can use this to like connect to a spreadsheet and like enter values as you go.

Alright, we'll we'll do that. Flex tandems. Do do do I'm not gonna dig. It's called um uh see now now the bopy bop bop song is technically called um Halloween or every day is Halloween. Bring my calipers to a show. Let's say and um I was gonna say Laura Jane Grace's album, which he produced, which is a good one. Did it work? And third, it's Phil Gyford's tumbler called Crazy Walls. Just so y'all know. Um I think there might be I think there might be more It's fine. One person knows what caused them trauma and the other person refuses to believe it. So I'm not listening. It's the s it's the simplest goddamn thing in the world, but my game has changed. It just s kind of pooped out. And in two of the cases he cited, and I have seen this, it was because people were using a USB A with an old school five watt dongus.

That's if you want to uh measure the inside of something. I mean I don't like balls in general. Yeah, well yeah, and that's that's the challenge. Well, they can mean red yarn. I'm a digger. Yeah uh still because that that that but you know that's th th there's there's certain kinds of things that you know we talk about trauma. Don't don't be that confident in your medieval barbering skills. I've told the story before, but I I just admired this so much. It's really sad. Because first of all, this guy, people are gonna watch it and they're gonna go, why why does he have the thing on his face? Alex. Um but one I do a lot. You don't get the game change without the context, Alex. Ministry changed a lot.

Um Stigmob. One two people have told me that to uh of course it was um founder of Coxes Cux, Kara Fagan, who was like, Alex I well no, it doesn't matter. And did you know did you knew that I you know you know I had a meal with movies with Mikey one time. Usually I can give you the cue that you're wandering off by talking over you. What is a bit to you? Major disorder. Just catching up on that book you like and stuff? I'm officially gonna go down to second gear and I'm gonna let you run this. And so and so uh that that's I'd be happy to talk about these pieces Yeah. Mm-hmm. Are you gonna walk me through your Donnelly nuts spacing? I think we know it's Paul. Not everything is everything. And it's fine because they're but they're talking to they're talking to people who used to be in the FBI.

And I don't ask for relationship advice from a Coke machine. A person could burst into flames. It's turning into a metaphor that doesn't work. There's three kinds of parts and then I need to assemble them. If you ever did get into this, you can buy them in different colors. No, it was like an app where he's like, you remember the flag. What's it called? Do you think it worked? Fuck me. Alex I've been looking forward to this for six days. The well it was just people slowly realized, uh oh, there's more explanations for Yeah, I don't care No seriously. Um I l I like his channel. The worst. God, this is why I'm not sure if you're not going to be able to do that. But with TPU, it also matters because you can change the sponginess of something by how thick the walls are.

How many do you want, do you want, do you want to go nuts and just have like I'm writing cable management. And you've got a lot of them. You you posted on Blue Sky. It's mainly Paul and that does the cruise stuff. I don't know if this comes from Agile or something, but like no feigned surprise. Um that way they could do a last minute final sound check. If you were going to talk about the thing where police and crazy people It comes out of lots of things. Like Mum referred to not why you're a good person and she was like, Oh yeah. Well we burn witches because we didn't like lesbians. No, no. I'm waiting till you're done so I can talk no. I mean I have a list of uh thirty-five what And it's it's completely I would not uh today, as I say here today, I don't travel much and I ha I hate traveling.

Hey, Alex. Yes, it looks like a cartoon. I need to uh I think world this wooden world we live in. I don't even know what you're talking about. It's upsetting. Um the the What what I'm trying to say is like even things that happened twenty-five fif five, ten, fifteen, twenty years ago, like And I'm I'm not trying to say like, oh yeah, now I don't use that anymore, so I'm a good person. Like uh But it became like a moral failing of if you knew someone who had spun spontaneously combusted. So sometimes, you know, I just go by, but you just want the star is what it is, right? You know what I'm saying? I know you better than that. Like back in the day when you'd have one cable you used like a lot, a lot, a lot for something.

It's just that there's there's a reason these are a game changer and it's it's for a reason I'm happy to share. God damn. I don't understand uh what's it called hello. Or if you're a if you're a podcast, you could do it in a minute and a half or a minute and a half. I better click it. You hear me get so mad about that? No, I'm g i b people I I think it is I want to get through these real quick. Third, in a slightly earlier time, it was believed that any woman who knows she's pregnant should not get on a train. Oh wow, so I wrote down what have I written down? I listened to the song a lot, but I've watched that video hundreds of times. But at worst it can get tangled up, and because of the semi rigidity of filament, it's not unusual at all for it to not be held fast It tricks me up.

You know what those cables we got. Um these will let you measure things and it actually gets it pretty accurate. Is that kind of thing? It's true for the F word too, though. I mean I if it and again it depends on context. Star Labs. You're not really listening. Okay, that's four. I I can't get you either of you guys to remember our bits. Whereas last year, um it was that song Horseshoe Crabs by that band I like with the girl who sings. I'm seeing okay, I need to find a good Well must be nice. Well yeah, but they're usually black. It's late at night. But I I'm trying to learn about things like radius and fillet and like what's what is the d radius, the you know the circle, the the curve of this that would fit into that Yeah.

Have I been to a concert venue? And B, I did something because I was offered the opportunity to do something that I didn't know existed, which is I sent you a message from Spotify. It's much more like, you know, Russ Never Sleeps kind of Neil Young. And how funny it is that he has a whole conspiracy because he's working in the mail room and still has not figured out because Charlie is illiterate Um Parmesan, Parmesan. They're ruining cross country here. I'm just saying if you if you're wondering why your world is all fucked up and strange and you're having all this these oppositional relationships with people, ask yourself God, really? The problem, uh so some sometimes I walk away from the bits because I I'm like, I don't I don't understand.

This is a good episode. Seems to be sizzling when it comes out of the nozzle. I think these are lovely. So I've been having very beautiful prints. In your system. But you um writing that down, woof. So guess what? You don't need to do it that long, I've learned. That is one of the greatest things that's ever been written and it's in my drafts. I'll we I'll always pick movies with Mikey. Bam Bam Bam Bam. Did I just yo I just yoink your context? You go walk around in Stern Grove, you're taking a walk, and it feels like we know, okay, we're here and we want to get to there, and we're talking and having a lovely time. I got two and a half things. Which isn't a flex, buddy. But also if you guys you guys are gonna get a get into the pool and play around in Roughhouse, you're gonna like puke.

And I'm always like, YouTube, you so smart. Well no, like we we we in the community talk about how confusing it is to everybody what USB means nowadays. Uh so basically it's this stuff that you see this little little But that means there's this little, you know, obviously there's a hole that lets the feed get from the chute storage area down to the bird eating area. And I found out it's almost exactly 8. Not fucking balls. They're using a field of Hassie sprats and brass fitted nickel slits and the bracketed caps and splay flex brace columns Shut up. Yes. That's why we had a drop out. Hey, hey, listeners, just so you know, Alex realized they started saying something and then realized they had to keep saying something.

Very emotional. I just mean in general. Because you have so much certainty about how it's not only untrue, but it's implausible, and you roll your eyes over how fucking stupid it was. This is Do by Friday, a weekly challenge podcast with Alex Cox and Merlin Mann. And I also sent Max what is called cosplay calipers. I'll tell you about it, but my goodness. What is white? God well yeah, it's the human condition. But I was just a little bit surprised, just because like maybe because And it was a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit Yeah, I try. You can do that whole thing in like a minute.

It's not for you. So now that should cut me off better. That's I mean you can, but I I I you know I don't know about that. Okay, so what's the radius on that? Uh oh yes. I thought that was funny. Who did he didn't do the the trans soul rebel record, right? Here comes Dick. That's that's the thing. Well don't want to get on your bad side. And then you say why is it? It's like you go there and you try and get the machine to tell you to drink bleach and then you go the machine told me to drink bleach and you're like, oh that'll show me But then frustratingly, months, weeks, months, years go by, we panic about something different that we don't realize is a moral panic, and we never look back to go, holy shit.

And I'll you I Because we always cut the ends off the roast. Don't put butter on a burn. Like, did it get you thinking in an unusual new new way about how you do stuff in the world? It's not just groaning down there. Oh really? And and I I believe in context. Okay, all right. Did you put them on a list? There's different infill patterns you can pick But this system, his system, this clip Right of the hole. We're not going to walk over these little divots. So, but like in that case, I was trying to make something for my bird feeder. I love the fat gay Nazi ate. I'm not asking people to something. They don't hear the context. Did you grow up not being allowed to swim after you ate? Uh n yes, but it was the humors, so I got that code.

I mean you sound like somebody on the internet. And you can see it's a little bit more than a little bit. Have you seen the first episode of Letter Kenny? You know, they used to do the bopy bop bop song. Don't like these names. So if I got to see Jeff Rosenstock and Pop again, I should bring my calipers. I was why I wanted to. Oh forget being humble. I don't know. Because they'll never stop to realize and just just to be clear here guys, emotions are not bad. And then later on, stuff like, you know, rayon and nylon, which are literally made out of oil. No, no, no, not of spontaneous human combustion. David Star Jordan was heard. Because you're you haven't given me enough context because you say it's a big deal.

Yes. Yeah, that that's dry T V this year. I I got the good good YouTube. See, I wear with XLR cables, by XLR cables, we're talking here about I know I know, but it wasn't but the you can't downgrade what she said that was funnier. There yes. But um these are this is I really like these. I could be heat shrinking these cables. Um the video for the concept got a lot of play. Psychosis is not a mental illness. But one reason everybody's so fucking angry is they've exhausted all the other options. And then let alone the accretive emotions about that and being part of a community of people who have similar or contrasting emotions. But but but so so the part that's easy, I'm going real slow with this.

You know? Yeah. It's definitely it would be worth it at fifty dollars a month for me. And he was very clear about this. And when but there's a loose end now of are your filament. Press a task apparatus of ten vertically composited patch hamplers. Now it is of screwdrivers. You ever go look at his page of what that man has engineered? It does you know why it it matters, Merlin? Pick a lane or in the Uh uh here here I just dig about different things. You know, medicine is not an exact science, but we're learning all the time. Um I uh he got he got David per uh David quote Dave. It's it's as in like, okay, it's uh you might have guessed because you go, oh well that's that's but all these crazy reasons Where the where the yeah, other day a couple couple hockey players came up the fruit for camp produce stand.

We don't really need to be digging right now. Wait, Alex was trying to think Alex, but what's the word? But no, that's the but but what I wanna but like how would how do you not open that with Pepe Silvia? Like we can't continue, we can't keep walking on this topic. It's a different kind of travel, different kind of thing. That's a little bit so evil. You could, you don't need to set it. You get it every time? And I'm s surprised that you don't know him as well, maybe if he What's the other one that uh What's the other who? I was about to defend okay, go on. It's hard. And I don't mean safety precautions. It's hard not to dig Not four letters, six letters. It was the most uh unnecessary thing to be hung up about.

But I start digging when it's become See how I kept walking? Like that's a year, sorry, like the average a year, which is a whole lot of people. No, I don't. Yep, that i that was his name. And I am writing down teenage. You know what? And so ordinarily these rolls, if you get the bamboo ones like I do, that's the company that makes all my stuff normally. It's only good. Fancy, fancy, look at this. I just didn't understand what the nature of your joke was, and it came with a lot of explanation that didn't It's a great term. S sometimes I'm like maybe I can reach in the back of my head and remember uh No no no no this is not a competition. Ooh Wow. When I was growing up, you go swimming, and then maybe you get out and you have lunch.

Please don't tell me Matches, a great thing. You want it to be what? You're just kind of just saying words. Wouldn't it be funny to be able to pull that out, produce that, like out of somebody's ear? And and part of this context is You should probably get rid of them. And the idea is that I I think it's mainly used in electric stuff. Wait. Stop watching. Well they're technically two Patriot scenes where they explain pipe. Two months ago. And uh I do have the all all of them in my queue. Sure. And that's certainly not what that means. It it's very emotional I've written down three things in ascending order. However you feel about women in trains. I think it's I think it's just I think it's just literary a little bit.

And and that's why that's why calipers is still a funny word to me. When's the last time you did that? Well that's creative. I just want to know where the lightning cable is to go into the iPad. How hard could it be? Alright, makes sense. Okay? I was just wondering if Joe Co still does cruises, but Oh I don't know. Must be nice. Yeah, but that concert venues aren't really mixed records. What am I fearing? All right. But you're aware that that name is associated with the person earnstorm. You try to talk to people about the role that emotions have. I talked like that. Which um sometimes for whatever reason something happens and all are part of a person is suddenly, spontaneously The uh you know, Merlin, there there were some instances in the eighties where um uh someone spontaneously combusted but he was standing by But it definitely displaces what we know about the crazy old thing.

I I just needed to know about the calipers. I gotta uh talk about my game changing button. So like, you know, my door stop. So you could take the end of the thread and put it in there and that way it wouldn't get because why do you care? This is you mentioned our friend from co-host Max. And then you get it but then you get into stuff like well what do you do with your like USB style cables, but or like skinny Um first of all, is it could do you do you see the little tubes that I'm talking about? Because that really is a big question here. It's We love coffee. But also it is, you could say red string. I don't I don't the joke was what if people somehow became Marco. Um oh man, this is uh um Okay.

She said this. Well that actually happened. That's so fucked up. Oh, the second worst episode. If there's one of those cables, I put a heat shrink tube. The holes are objective. You don't see the you don't really see the balls. And learn a lot of just interesting because like if you go back and listen to the Catholic education, you can superhear this young band. You've seen the photo, right? But like sometimes the words you use or the approach you take And that's because you fucking weren't there. You would wait half an hour after you ate to go swimming. For for when you want to like be somewhere and like uh And to store it somewhere that's not in your AMS or your printer And if you have a wear building engineer, it's so they don't break.

It's all at the end, right? Alex. Those are they're they're they're the shintag. Yes. And the theme song for that show is a song by Big Star, but it's performed by Cheap Trick. Context is kind of the new word of this show And I don't know how many people realize that last part. I I there's times where I why I choose not to walk, maybe because I I'm looking for landmines. I got six more to go. I'll take a photo of my pieces for you. It's a better episode than last week, which is not saying very much I I'm putting on the list maps because I have a qu I have some questions. Yeah, because uh like if you need to get it into um I'm not recommending this, but I am shrink tubing. Exactly! I don't think people look at Yeah, don't don't don't stand.

It's called God. He has his name in quotes like like J. But especially down to like, okay, well, is this This is something that like the the But another thing I do, you can use those for all kinds of things. All right. Don't worry, I noticed and didn't want to ask. I'm a Hellyard honey, but apparently you won't let me be that. But you wouldn't want Steve Albini to to worry. Just keep walking. One is Charlie Day and Pepe Silvia. Where it's like, well you might have died of starvation, but it was it really the computer that starved you? I I uh I don't know. But that one guy where when horrible shit would happen to black people, he'd be on TV within an hour, like sitting at a table with them. They love that.

But it also comes out of having enough temporal distance from something to go, yeah, that sounds like bullshit. I think that was my first time. Okay. So you put white white gaffers tape on something and that means what? Because the gaffers tape Oh all right, all right. They hang. They bolster twelve husk nuts to each girdle jerry, while flexed tandems press a task apparatus of ten vertically composited patch hamplers. Is that what it is? But the listening to Big Star, I'm like, all right, this is not for me, but I understand why it is good. And the reason they did that is because when they were like uh I very much enjoyed listening to the entire You listen to the volleyball one, right? And that that frustrated me.

It's true for all it's true for all I'm trying to say. Like going through that whole swimming thing and hearing about people having to swim naked in school and Um but j just to the response uh was This sorting part is really good. Yes. I think Syracuse said this, and this sounds like faint praise, but I I I didn't say that. Well you're you're a tough customer, that's for sure. You don't need context when you got facts. And you see them in documentaries. I don't know two I I don't uh It's the weirdest thing. I like you I like your onesie dude. None of them. Like no, you you said some things funny and now you're in a completely different place than where you could have gone with this. Because they know I'm gonna dig and they know I'm gonna reverse search it The the current um story that I It to pretend that like we weren't okay with that just of it it's so weird and it it feels disr What was the No, I uh simply revisited uh the Yes.

You probably have not realized that when I say things like I thought that was funny, that I'm doing Wayne from Letter Kenny. It's slam fastened pan traps all the way down. I've written down letter Kenny. And I it and I was very grateful. I might get myself a treat. Sam Altman literally murdered my son. Like, and whether that's true or not, you can if you can imagine it. Yes. I wrote down several things. Um I'm writing down ABS is a really popular uh in manufacturing. But again, he's not offended. And I know it's annoying. And now you're no you know you're knotting it basically when you try to print. Okay, well think about any cable you've got that has ends on it. No. But wait, are are you saying I know, I know.

He's wearing a skirt. I was like, what is Marlin gonna say? You could do that and then do a story about it, but that doesn't make it a really crumulent source of like like improving the culture. And no moral panic. He's like in health class they had to tell us But sp you know, spoiler alert. Please sh please, please. I've written down tube. Um Is there a TPU section? And that person said, you know, she's Irish, and I said, I I do know that she's Irish. What? Don't worry, just keep going. And like, you know what I'm talking about? So like if you're any position you're in Well, because it's a hurt f that's a hurtful term to people when you say the F-word. Holy shit, that doesn't make any sense.

Just figure it out. I I I said this is insane. Like, if you didn't feel trauma from that, okay, that's okay. Give each other a break I've been waiting to ask you. Not that you need to, but I really like I like what he says and I like how he says it. Continue. And you know, if if if you don't understand the joke, it probably wasn't for you. Like, what do you do with that? Actually Marco just talked about this on their bonus episode. You don't want it to like change lengths at both ends and stuff. And now I trust it. It's like when you go on the road and you stay with people. Do you remember that? Also, did you know Cheap Trick re-recorded one of their albums with Steve Albini and they never put it out?

I uh um Like genu genuinely I did not describe that. I know that. Uh uh the I don't know why Why in the fuck in one million years would you ever have to tell a 14 year old boy not to put butter on a burn? I'm sorting parts that I have printed, and that will keep my mind occupied while I'm talking to you Like $25 fucking dollars. No, no, Alex, I'm not I'm not I'm not a shop teacher That's the easiest way. Just you need a piece of something that's about an inch and a half high, about four inches wide. I could have digg du It was one of those things where when I said it to people, like I'm like No, it's not a And what's even more sad I get it. You're not hurting me. Now today, now the the thing is that as uh Stephen Colbert would say, it has truthiness to it because today.

I don't love Family Guy. Oh my god, I would love to oh my fucking God. No, I love Do you have an adderall today? And then sometimes I just get obsessed with an Eagles song, you know? White means USB A. Okay, so did you get the link? We had lunch on a on a cruise. I mean if you just hear like how you all know Big Star Um and you could say It won't that's why screenshots, baby, that's what it's you demand that from your friends. Without getting into all the drama of My friend my friend Dave Or there's all that kind of stuff. And you probably but but that's the thing, you can find the context too. That is actually. We don't use that term anymore. That is a thing that I've just made up. Never have, never will.

Like I think it's really bad that there is an algorithm that shows young girls The and but what's There's a reason, there's a certain kind of jokes that I've made less of over the years, and it's not just because I don't want to offend Um When will I ever stop walking away? Well, or our our our bit could be petering. Okay. What are you using? I uh only have one car and that doesn't work. And that's how they get you. And aren't they pretty? I want it yes, and I want to see this in action though, because I can't find the regular clips in action. The 5 by 11. Such a great word. It's the same, it's the same in the whole wide world Bop Bop Bop The one I'm thinking of is called stigmata. Whoa! They are digging.

Other people talked like that. However, wow, safety matches should really be a thing and wow, like there should be a lot of Just a low guttural groan. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, ten, and ten. Amen I don't know if dry TV will end up being my favorite I mean, save some because they're useful for lots of basic USB A stuff, but like This is uh it's I don't Like the the it's like it's What? Why would Merlin need calipers? What's the fillet on that? No. It's lightning cartoon flags. Not none of 'em. Everybody's seen the meme of Charlie in front of a big wall that says Pepe Silvia, and he says this name keeps coming up. And for things where there is psychosis, like you gravely misunderstand what that means if you think an unhappy teen All of them they just ruined cross country for San Francisco.

And we can tell because every time we think about it, we feel that emotion again, so it must be true. Yeah, and and that was uh and she like really fucking sat with that. Two R's. I had to buy a long one not too long ago and I was shocked at how much it cost. Sorry. It's one thing to say, print me a rectangle. Oh you see have you seen it? Right. I'm not gonna dig about it. No, I know that one song. You just yeah, you're doing you're listing the facts and I'm Well you're usually not that sharp, Alex. And what I'd said, I think at one point what I said was uh I I made an on-the-spot analogy. No, no, no. And we said that about people we didn't know because they were different from us. Number two, you get a burn, you put butter on it.

I don't know what internet you're getting, but I want it if that's how you experience it. It comes on a spool. But anyhow, so think of this. This is the thing. Let's open up our social media and explain some of our jokes. And like it should that is a digger for me. If you get somebody to imprint on something We no longer tell people No, no, no, no. His whole theory of uh not a real name, but continue Yeah. It's really satisfying. They talked about it on ATP and still like couldn't figure it out, so I'm not going to try Documentation Just one sheet. I think like you making so many generic six-letter things because some of it is smiling Asian teenage boy pillows. I've I'm not there. There's many Something like that.

Does anybody make their kids wait half an hour after eating to go swimming? You will get a cramp. Um I am saying I don't always agree with him. I'm gonna write down I'm gonna try and collect all my things here. It's like there's certain I've realized that in in the algo Like if you can avoid it, you should not be printing ABS And so like whenever you print something I I have done it a lot. We're going to dig further into things like calipers. You're talking about my my my whole thing. And I'm like, no, but And then they did they did stuff like uh bum bum pam bum that song And then that led to this idea, I think, which was let's take that analogy and act like it's a real thing. But that's okay.

Because it's genuinely it it is kinda kind of So I've written down calipers, my parts. Without you realizing it now, the end of your filament is could be underneath Uh yes lots of I d I don't know. Because that's the color of lightning in cartoons. Are you the are you the tech wrangler for that? This Okay, I'm ready. They're every funny He's kind of the vice president in charge of cruises, I think. I really still think you should listen to Super Friends. You claim to read. I mean publicly you can't say that because then people go, then that's not really your favorite. You know I want you know I always want to hear Turn It On Again. Vincent Van, go to the polls. I'll follow bug. So there must be something to it.

You see the uh the apparatus that they are stored in. It's very sad to talk about The last person in the world I would want to put on TV Yes. It was absolutely true. But it feels similar. No, where do you want do you want to get the parts out of the way? So the tension it's the tension. Um but you could buy yellow ones and white ones and red ones and blue ones. Because why would I need calipers is a question worth asking. Um It's very easy to say. But remember now we're in the hallway aching, and here's where I say to you, just because you know that's stupid now. That's what it feels like to me. That's funny. Um a kind listener gives you a good YouTube. I went through this with Kelsey, because there's a lot of Australians.

Right, right, right. I mean it's fifty bucks. Does that come in men's? Just because it's related, it doesn't mean it's connected. You could be Sally Parmesan and you start out that show and Sally Parmesan. He's the class action guy who is I'm good, I'm suing face. What I am trying to say is don't say things about stuff you don't know about. No Oh, well I don't do a lot of things. It went from oh, heads are different sizes. You can also print out a little holder that you put on the lip of the filament But how did I verify that? And I feel good about these calipers. Possibly there's a new version of the replacements let it be coming. It is not accurate. Why and um Well you also shouldn't sit though, because one of the guys And so Theodoric of York, played by Steve Martin, and it's it's a pretty funny bit.

Well of like Isn't that a pretty know the difference between the regular are these these Wait, wait, wait, hang on, hang on. Oh my god. Um but Hello there ladies and gentlemen. Hello, ladies and gentlemen. Drink a lot of coffee. What do we know about Charlie? The You're you're harming It keeps it keeps what? Movies I'm talking about movies with Mikey I don't know if you can tell how pretty these are. I still I still I still I have non-zhuj versions of that that I print. You got the silver part, you got the white part, you got the taper part, you got the cable part. They they don't tell you they dangle. They're starting to do then tell me my point. And I'm like, Big Star, you know who Big Star is a big influence on?

Oh, it was the eighties, it was a different time. So like when I push back on shit like I don't know about that. Sleep Star Codex R. Aren't these pretty? And then you got fake secret Brits who are really starting to grind my gears. So you n you need you need the tubes and then you need a heat gun. Because remember, when you're prototyping anything, you can always make something out of cardboard or paper Had to show his mom. Alex, what's the challenge this week? And that's m w why I get hung up on things is because when If you were gonna do Uh I don't think that's what I think of red string as being like a Madonna bracelet. Like we all make different choices. You don't believe that that's what everybody said, and you're trying to make a cleaned up version of the world.

And also just because you feel strongly about it doesn't make it true. But he was without facts without context or just facts. My friend Dave No. No moral panic realizes it's a moral panic. Bob Dobbs or our David Starr Codex. Um but then again, like I say, you follow what I'm saying though with with TPU. It shrinks up the sh it's odd because the heat is making it shrink. I wish I could escape it. I don't know. Yes. Sounds like I'm under I'm realizing right now you've never heard the term homo honey, so I suppose Uh Like I use it what it's for. I have it on my shoes right now. And you don't want to break all of the expensiveness of your, you know. Like it's losing something when you're measuring stuff.

Yeah. I didn't postworm album I like and you guys couldn't get into Oh my god. Is it in quotes? Well, I got yelled at the other day a little bit by somebody Don't dig. Oh, so I was making a joke. I didn't like the cruise, but it was nice meeting Mikey. Yes. That's squirrely damn. Because first we need to dig a little bit about what you think that means. And being like, okay, this is the same thing. I'm better at this stuff than you guys are So that's your problem now. You kinda do. But most people use a way too high infill uh percentage for what they do and it ends up adding a lot of time. So think about a roll of a spool of No. That was also the first song. Is that kind of the idea? At the very least, you will get a cramp.

Saying something funny Oh, here's your problem. Is he measuring Jews? Was that was that from Master and Commander? What is it? They talk to somebody with a tumbler It's just it is not just a browser now But like again, emotions don't explain things. I think you're humorous. Are you aware about the sequence of events that goes into a story? It's insane Now it's the second worst episode. Um uh Bandwagon is And you know, if you're like, if you're like, you know Who does that say more about? And that's kind of what it feels like sometimes. Um I have a lot of big opinions. And you get them for different And he says I think you come in men's enough for the rest of us. But I have really bad ears and I don't care what things sound like.

Why, just fifty years ago we would have thought your daughter's illness was brought on by demonic possession or witchcraft. Jesus Christ, no. Well, as as I mentioned to our friend Max, also, I now am all in on the um Our neighbors would hate that. Oh, I don't know. That that's what that's where that's where they get a lot of their action. I mean And is that like a flag hag? Is that what it's called? You did that. By by digging, I mean trying to talk to someone and convince them why I also use heat shrink things. They weren't that expensive. You see Squirrely Dan talking about his cousin towards Nutsack trying to do a skateboard trick, had to show it to his mom. And now who hangs out with funny.

It's it is insane. I love I love the sound of that record. Why do I like this? Can I just say and this is nothing, just I don't know. You bring up Family Guy kind of a lot. I can I can ask you questions while I sort my parts This is something that we uh like people are like you had a toxic relationship and I'm like, you know what, we had a toxic relationship. And not not just not just how well to clean it, how well to clean the Airbnb and where the trash goes and don't go in the closet. But I've bought a bunch of these that are like. No, no, okay. No, it's one word. And it was never true. I have so much context. And they they maintain their they don't like if you run something like Remember back in the day, like the classic The uh if Like you want to focus on I don't like talking about Nirana.

Oh regards the pronunciation make it hard for you to remember who he is. And all they have now is this bruise that they can press that proves to them how true everything is. When you get a burn, like a first or second degree burn, like you know, you pick up a pot and burn your finger, you put butter on it. Like jokey sized two foot long calipers. But but like another one is like I've got these things I printed out for s for like uh spooling up I verified that by dropping in a sheet of paper. That's kind of racist against bowling balls. What's really And because this is now the magic word, this is now the magic word for this show. I Charlie is illiterate. And I forgot about that that Tumblr, but uh uh like they're gonna start with Oh, yeah.

Oh yeah, women weren't allowed to ride on trains because they were pregnant. Things change, isn't it crazy? Is it in quotes? Go look up heat shrink tubing. Okay. Yeah, no it does. You and Karen need one of those playlists. I I told you that it was an unnecessary thing to be hung. You sent a link to the group and then you sent something like that. Okay Why was it a big De Hey everybody, this this little let's call. Give me either a color or a type Yeah, and but not even melt it f Here here they are. Yes. Um John Gacy, John Wayne Gacy claimed that he was bisexual. The Wait, do you know I did I tell you I got Your problem is bad layer adhesion. One of those an ear? So now I have two calipers that I like.

I That no, that L uh that Lulu Miller wrote about him. Oh silly silly person who doesn't keep up with this stuff. The the issue with number volcables. Yes, and I it Yeah. Do Ladies and gentlemen, Leslie Claret. When um Ernst So much of m mine is Um a pretty nose, Zach Friedman The tension becomes is is important. I've tried. Paul and Storm, where Paul does most of the work. Because I'm the same way about, for example, words. This is insane and a link. And imagine that it's funnier when you hear Steve Martin do it, dressed in in filthy medieval garb. I I am saying I often do not agree with him. I'm not gonna talk about that. Please describe it in a sentence. And I don't think I've never had ChatGPT I don't I don't ask hammers And what is anger?

No, that happened. Oh no, I think it's I'm not digging. Uh these are P-A-H-T-C-F. Well the context is out there but nobody sees anywhere anymore. Um it's got usually three holes or you know, three. It's insane. This is why Mikey Star Codex talks about the in-group It's called like uh it's called like uh it's called uh uh it's like The parts are easy. And his anecdote was people whose Mac stopped working. It's by a company called iGauging. Um cable management uh shrink Go ahead. I think after the um after the I don't yeah, they do all kinds of stuff I think. Um I never realized that I became Marco. It's kinda gross. But like like I say in the document, if you can't understand why someone feels traumatized Well the phrase you know, in spite of or because of, we need to get a lot more subtle about I want this the spreadsheet now with But if I had to prepare to leave town for something next week That's a digger.

So good. So you think it's grounded in something so that was also practical sometimes? And the um and ABS is a Now it's the second worst episode. It's fucking crazy. So they could hear make sure they could hear each of their instruments the way they think it should sound. It's just what it made me think of. But you could die if you swim after eating I wanna learn about all the TPs. This is two months two months ago I made this joke is what I did. Sorry, go ahead. Okay. Yes. And here's why Do you follow? You ever had your you ever had parts of your body ache? We could just peter, peter, peter. No. This week's challenge. So much context. Fancy doesn't mean expensive. Anger. It was like, okay Well first of all This is why Trump jokes aren't funny, because what he says is Lightning cartoon flags Oh, is it any good? So good. Yes. Do you still watch do you still watch Void Star Lab?

But then there'll be areas that where there's like And my wife asked me. One caliper, set of calipers I really like. Is that what it's and it's So really you're just a pretty nose Not Oh God. They don't love you like I love you. I think You're saying that I wouldn't believe who they went into that shit. Is this the show? Last week Anger is the end of lots of other failed emotions. Why don't we I mean d I think You gotta be in the right mood for it. That's the that's the musical question that Robin Sander asks at the top of the album. He's like that one guy or uh or Reverend Al. Wouldn't that be funny? Well, my favorite song kind of. I wish I knew more. Okay, so is that a rectangle? D is that making any sense? Well, I you get to choose whatever internet you Bob Dobbs? You could do it with a hairdryer, but I got a heat gun. Mm-hmm. I don't have Emotions just make us explain them louder.
