And I'm learning about the deal with Paracord. But even better than that, which I will find for notes, is somebody explaining what the fuck on cinema at the cinema is and why it's interesting. Yeah. It was like a like a bug, but that was designed kind of like the Michelin man. I'm clicking, I'm pasting. Oh, I don't know if it's the device. Yeah, like what if it's worse than you think because you don't even know what you don't understand yet? And I'm sorry, but that's true. And then that turns into like some kind of a fucking blanket party on whoever's not not currently in your in-group about about wanting to burn the looms. So anytime we make a salad, we have to say, why don't people just make a big salad?

What's neat is you can see this as raw YAML, but it'll also it can also show it as a sort of a GUI where it's all it looks almost like a little table. And I'm like, hey, this thing knows I use drafts, it knows I love it. Clip and capture to your dynalist. It says Actions for Obsidian integrates the personal knowledge management tool, Obsidian, with Apple's automation ecosystem. uh some some kind of uh a corseted sanity that I could find within your world. in doing so infuriate people who for whatever reason do. To special day. I think is what happened. shower car. front door. Tildebrand. and and stuff. And Vic Berger sits in the back typing for some reason. And obsidian over here. me out because I thought they looked in tardigrades too.

I heard I think it was the one. Hot shit footage. That's what my own. fan. uh what if phones but too much. It's giving cringe. f I I wish I could just take it I wish I could tear it off the screen. It's probably because you're really excited to have something to be mad about that other people are mad about right now. Also, you don't have to be a transsexual person. Boy, I you could put me on the hall of fame of people who were always in a used to used to when I when I was more uh well known or my work was more interesting to people. The Miyazaki clip. It's my understanding that they felt there were there were certain kinds of encroaching technology that were mostly disrupting it was partly spiritual, but also uh a lot of it had to do with economics, right?

I'll find it for notes. especially in the settings area, given like we've all dealt with these kinds of applications where it's like every cool thing you add adds some level of complexity. Hugh Fraser, he played. makes sense. Doesn't matter. I'm seeing it. Someone who lives a life different than that. I do. Do you know about Paracord? And like you gotta have some in your like go bag, you gotta have some in your survival kit, you gotta have some in your uh outside outsider tech pro bag. And so, you know, you need string, you need rope. Bemo or whatever. Which I just let that I didn't think it was your birthday, my calendar thought it was your birthday. And it features, you know, the way a shower curtain will have like a repeating pattern on it, like a wallpaper type situation.

Like the liner we have now is really nice. leg right oh no no no no but you ever been in like ever have like a part of my saying a shitty shower curtain it just flies around no magnets nothing's doing nothing in my head and I'm not gonna look it up but if you get a thick ass shower curtain it can be very satisfying some people have just that they're out there like Uncle Baby Billy just you know hanging brain Oh, anybody can see in the curtain. I thought it would be I thought it easier if we put in an ice chest in the bedroom because it's cooler in there. That's like well, you know, okay, so like I think I told you I've I know I've told you about my friend Chris Cauldron who next to Dennis Gephardt looms largest in my mind as like my most sort of when I say memorable, I just mean in like I've got a million stories or funny things that Chris Cauldron has said.

Um and a private bathroom for everyone. you worked at New College over the summer doing maintenance. So I'm not gonna tie up the curtain after they get home. Uh uh, do you think they're being a little bit Merlinist in in this case? Why do not? That's the end of a whole bunch of things that went horribly wrong over like five years on on cinema at the cinema. There's a five-part series where everybody put somebody's put together every podcast, web series, short film, music video, everything that's ever in chronological order. Least. So I asked. stand up comedian in a in a tux with a really really really unfortunate comb over I'm really like this comb over is Of what? Uh, Stephen Yoon, not all tree nuts.

Um and and you know, in like a somewhat surprising uh it was a hundred million dollar race, all told. Uh yeah. Meow mee to meow meow mewhow. Well Also the year at sixty, right? He looks like a tr uh pre-op trans man that has an ill-fitting binder and uh has just a really low T count. I uh you're pretty fired up about this. But there's those shots where Jamie will be talking, but the camera's on the woman the whole time. uh because Netflix has that thing where it's like this isn't a device anyway. still have lobs for backup. Sounds like. Can we please stop focusing on whether it's quote a real wonder? this does. So I guess I have kind of because it's like yeah, I don't care about what people have to say about whether or not This includes spoilers for adolescents.

The the thing I s I said to Syracusa and 'cause we I first realized I thought differently about this 'cause Madeline and I I think really hugely disagreed. That's what we're watching this is like this is like Dostoevsky. I was like, you take any s in you any durable story from the last, you know, twenty thousand years, and yeah, all s good stories are about something, but you don't usually keep reading them for a thousand years because they're a because of what they were about. a a phenomenal show on its own terms too. You know, you know what almost every story is about? Because if you'd pitched me on this as being a thing about the manosphere, I wouldn't even have turned it on. Uh no, but I I disagree.

w how this started was because there was a um murder of a y young boy murdering You think about an overhead. you know, and then projects that onto the screen. And you're like, as long as there's a round wrecked in a tree somewhere in this image, we know everything's okay. He just wants to get the day back, right? wiped out because that's what the world really ultimately is, which I think should count as a form of literary catharsis. time old tradition. It it's about social media. Well, maybe it's not weird. uh still has a role. Like, oh, that's all just crazy. if people who might watch this and get emotionally shredded in a way that's useful might avoid it in the same way that I, okay, how about this?

Who I I am only a dad and uh I'm in California. Joseph Campbell PBS shows about this. Folks, uh especially, you know, liberal people who are uplifting and uh publicizing laws that aren't actually going to affect anybody and that like there's And you're like, yeah, I realize you don't like it and you've seen too much of it and you're already ready to hate this shit anyway. with this terrible, terrible big brother technology. Uh don't you think it is I'm sorry, don't you you it is almost like a- Well maybe I'm not understanding. Or fuck the people who uh we can work the looms. sorry. He he's um what is it? versus Miyazaki quotes because he's like he's always like, I'm gonna kill myself. Something that makes him do very bad things.

Why do you need to know what's in the tank? Uh what's in that what's in that tank when he inhales that gas? is purported to be it's a French illustration from 1911 but it's that pyramid of capitalism. Um, it's under the Oh look at Manda. in some ways. Like sometimes um you know, a lot of my favorite YouTubers, uh one reason I like them is because they can say the things that every YouTuber wants to say, but they find a way to do it obliquely. And more and more I s I feel like it she's turned some kind of a corner with and I don't I don't have an opinion about it, but I just thought she's a she's a little more straightforward than she used to be and not afraid to add a little bit of context that she might not have given five years ago.

sister in law whose iPad has never turned off in like ten years. You could o your phone would only stay on for so long. Like a square type thing or even uh you know, like a checkout um like the there's a lot of uh farmer's market type situation. I kind of ours, maybe mine. Obsidian things. Yeah, that my thunderous orgasms. Best album. It's not the first time I just started it's just easier to start over. It's got just that little index of like right there of like all the, you know, H's, all the IDs in your document. That that feels like the pathway for me. I like it okay on iOS, but that not that's not where I've been focusing my attention. Let me see. who I have not seen in twenty two years, but I have a uh of it's basically Madeline's best friend's husband and he's this guy who I met over two days in LA, Los Angeles.

Um Kenneth shit your eyes. He's like he's a bummer. And then people are start looking at him. as he's trying so hard to be a good dancer at the office party. B it used to take forever even if you only had text files. But like uh stuff I'll be, you know, returning to let me click over. And I realized that well, if you just go into the b uh not browse mode, source mode, source mode, you know, it's kind of like in simple cast when you flip between the two. It's like normalized data, and instead of having to do like full-on, you know, uh HTML headers with quotes and everything, you can just say something like title, colon, space. It's nice, it's lightweight. Or like, you know, the title that I give that document is the title that it'll have uh on the blot blog post.

an Apple shortcuts app used to bring information from other apps into your okay all right I'm getting this I'm clicking I'm gonna buy it all right I'm in 4. Hello, how are you? Okay. It's the thing with the little the the little co hooks on the end where you uh strap stuff down, right? Yeah, um Madeline surprised us a few years ago with a Jaws shower curtain that I happen to adore. All right, it makes that makes sense though. Yes. Um, but he decided at one point he was gonna get rid. Yeah. As usual. Um, we learn that the Queen, uh, the great Olivia Coleman has lost a lot of, you know, has had miscarriages of like Oh no, the opposite. The well, I I I would like to do that as well, but you know, it pops it pops up.

And he is a alm I I mean just uh the short shorthand for this might be think Andy Kaufman type performance. How are you? that band let's see what i had last week here i'm typing i'm typing dbf and i'm gonna find This. So we're gonna we're gonna talk about um obsidian this week, yes? Um uh uh Elon Musk spent millions of dollars trying to get a conservative judge elected to the Supreme Court in Wisconsin. and all I'd just seen, you know, video without audio of it, like on uh CNN. What what what what is theory about he's waxy, he's waxy, and then he doesn't like to shave, but it grows so like disparately. Like, it's just very embarrassing. Th there's some heart. I did. profit from this because OnlyFans Oh I see.

Greg Torkington. I sound like such a on this show, I sound like such a girl because I get defensive and I go. I know, yeah. Or at least the first two times. But I do sometimes turn it off for things like comedy, especially if it's wordplay comedy, because reading comedy is not the same thing as hearing comedy. things you probably never would have heard even with normal hearing. In jail you still make friendships. You know, t because you know, bullying sure didn't exist before phones. Which is not a very fun way to pitch it. uh young girl and then the same thing happened uh a few months later and he's like, How is this? take away from this. this because there's a whole lot more on screen in this that goes way beyond way beyond a a a a pretty rote solution for why kids are screwed up.

And not to spoil the rectifs, well, I'm not going to talk about it at all because we talked about we got John's take on this, I thought was really, really smart, and I I don't want to spoil it. uh on the n obviously not to the violent e extent of what happened here, but i even in high school It's not just me. See, it was it was it's a fun game. And uh what you get points by bullying or by both. God. say w with muscularity is that let's not let's not think about this for a minute. Yeah. You remember that a couple three years ago? Because you 'cause you know, T9 doesn't kill people. a folk demon when you're being vended a moral panic? Yeah. Like I don't look I don't have an answer to any of that stuff.

You know? What did you you call it? And I think we turned a weird corner with that. So that's how that went. You know, but I guess I'm I'm putting out something that's a little bit dark and certainly pretty tenuous. You know, going to Project X or something. uh I I believe it was Laura. to train an LLM and I'm like, oh buddy. Are you fucking kidding me? Does that mean we we we we turn away and start burning the looms? in 1985. Why d why do you have to know how the spacing guild works? If you saw, does Contra Points have a name? My kid listened to Lions Comma Linden, which is as 17-year-olds listening to Pavement Goes, is pretty obscure. So I think the actual translation of this so they're saying we work for all, we feed all.

provo, which I think is probably no food for you. Seventeen forty seven, man. Without sounding like a like a piss baby? Hello. tends to be the time that I'm most like sort of slightly overwhelmed with dealing with input, which is like between 530 and 7. in the early evening. glowing at full brightness in the kitchen. That I thought that was a requirement. Yeah, any any of those. And the main reason I get off it usually is because I just don't want to get too wound up in it. Sorry nerds, like I love it, but it can be a little impenetrable to like just figure out wait what plugins do I have loaded and what this and why am I updating that and you know it's just and it's also ugly. With all the plugins in the same state, I think you're better off.

Like if I'm gonna go mess with something, on the one hand, I don't want to come in with all my own preconceived gosh, another thing I've learned from Chatty G, I don't want to come in with my own preconceived notions about what this thing is for. You know, like with this, just show me a side rail thing that's all about links in and links out. Yeah. You know, and he's he spends every hour of the day like doing whatever his weird thing is and running around and like never having to sit down for a second and like just sit with what a strange world he's created. Like when I see him walk out on stage with his weird big boy jacket and his funny t-shirt and his cheese hat, he's a sixty-year-old man in a styrofoam hat who thinks he's funny.

And but like no, but he's like, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, whatever. flying monkey or is like any I guess s I don't want to say smart, but like he only like retweets the same like five people and it which is so you think his world's kind of small in that way? there because I uh I I know that you you don't always acknowledge it, but there are other uh people who who listen to the show and folks who say, um, yeah. Doggle thingies. That's one of those that's one of those oversight that means two things. Like it's not I like that you can see it as just text, but when I paste in my secret Brits table, it looks like a table. But you can also say have it in there, but don't show it to me. is like I do like writing things and posting things and I think it's neat that like this can be a more formal home for a text it you know, is just markdown.

uh which also plays nice with the AML, that means that stuff like draft colon yes or draft colon no are are functional. And this is yeah. Yeah, and it's great too because it automatically. Um Dinalus Companion Clipper. Uh you own three hats. And I'm just gonna I'm gonna try and inhabit that world and see if I can sort of back into a kind of um I don't know, uh Mm-hmm. But you use it for all kinds of things and I Google I look didn't Google it. strengths in in the threads, right? It's like you know how the first like the I think the first toy in the Toy Hall of Fame was a either a stick or a box. um box cardboard box stick now rope that we've been using that for millennia and that's why you can't afford to how to keep spending all your avocados on paracord But the point is, um, rope is a tool.

Oh so let me let me give you the upshot. I learned a lot from Chris. And uh what else were we talking about? doing movie reviews, but much more than that. I've heard you say that name. Hmm. Eric Werheim Bring back comedy. I mean that was the best part of well no the the tardigrade things making the dumb faces that was probably the best part of the case. Um, and he was on stage on Monday appearing in Wisconsin to promote this conservative who was just the sweatiest fucking candidate you've ever seen in your life. He was It was like the last act of the Truman Capote uh Ryan Ryan Murphy series. See, I think that Elon Musk looks like hi MB hello uh he and is just like buying, you know, he you know, his like funny t-shirts like tech support, ah, and it's just those shirts that you buy at uh that I definitely bought it.

I gave my love a chicken that had no bone. You say you're bored with it and you say it over and over. Um well, but what if you had a uh you know camera in your bathroom that had hours and hours of you? But I keep as you know, you you you say I talk about headlines, but there's gotta be a lot of you've got a scene. Yeah, the not Jonathan Goldstein who calls Jackie. I don't Which is producing a show so people don't have to think about that all the time. I can't get enough C N B C I'm always watching business news. Greg Dorking. But um anyway, that's that's Greg. Oh that that looks like a happy m man. And what else did I have? If and the thing is if what I realized in a very obvious way, I guess, is I mean I super needed the subtitles the first three times I watched it And oh yes, save it for a show that won't come out for ten days.

But um wait, what were we saying? Yes. People know what I'm talking about. Please. I really want to lean into a little bit of the moral panicky stuff. Which seems to be a couple of the big takeaways for everybody but me. realism in the literary sense. do we go about living our lives when something terrible happens? Is that what you're talking about? honorable all of these extra. from so much other um popular mainstream storytelling is it's I would not say it's nihilistic, not at all. Just off the top of my head, one way of thinking about catharsis in the literary or dramatic sense is like the second part is you get to have a feeling, but the first part is you realize the feeling exists. Uh um, oh no, that's um Dream Dad Dream Daddy where you you are a single father and you're trying to date another dad.

uh like turn of the century school and uh just show you know showing that it really wasn't um trying to be like ah look at bullying is a just coming away from watching this and I I just went to, you know, look at look at some headlines, as you would say, or or look at like the takes at where, you know, I like reading about media and uh I was like, wait you would come up with one would come up with that as the hook for this why are we writing so you know what I mean like in journalism. Or let's think about I mean, there's a reason we still read these stories or we still talk about these stories. That's what a lot of great stories are. to bring it down to, oh, it's a story about um toxic masculinity and mobile phones.

people who take away like this could have only been made yes in this era. This is this is a thing that I've been writing about and I don't have anywhere to put this yet, but like I've just I feel like I finally realized how many people don't have anything left except Is like just finding common cause with other people, finding another stranger to be impotently angry about something. Yeah, and there's uh a a lot of inside house talking um amongst queer people uh the the fun I'm like a That is that is that is so sweet and like that would that's so nineteen seventy eight. I can't tell you the number of skirmishes that I've had with people you've never heard of all the way up to giant companies about doing anything that even begins to make it look like I have a relationship with them when I don't.

More heat than light? It w yes. It's also, I really, uh, God, I wish I I I should make this. How hard does your how hard does your noir need to be to be appropriate? the uh the aristocrats and capitalists at the top, we rule you, but above that all is a giant fucking bag with dollar signs on it that says capitalism. Capitalism diagram thing. uh almost coquettish about what she's actually fucking talking about and it takes like sometimes like thirty minutes to kind of get the gist of like where we're going with it. I feel like since the Apple Pay, since sometime during the Apple Pay days, they changed. But like if you've got all the logged in stuff where you can do touch ID or face ID, you know, it necessarily doesn't want your phone to be able to be on for four hours Just like w whatever Apple considers the big I think it's neat and and it makes me happy.

is not just because I would never in a million years want to hurt the feelings of Agile Tortoise. Where like I've got stuff in drafts that I wish I could do a little bit differently, or you know, or like I at least I haven't learned how to do it differently or whatever. But um it's nice to have the option. Uh out of the box you can it's very capable and you can without doing a million plugins. This is really pretty and it's pretty intuitive. And it is fun to fuck it all up. folder that says archive and you put all your shit in it and you can actually I just don't want it to interfere with the stuff that's powerful that I'm using this for, like the linking ability. the the settings and and preconceived stuff, but you can say, hey, don't index this folder so that and then you can optionally do it.

It's a good idea. A good, you know, some I you know, and one of the things I actually think that that one of the few things that Mac Whisper gets what done pretty good is a inspector that lets you kind of zero in on one. On on a desktop it is my like work workspace and on mobile it's where I find things. Test test three final or whatever. even in like a nearly identical app. Uh probably I remember I just got in my cannon with the flash curtain flash, so it would be 2003 or four maybe. He's a he's a very big brush German guy and he plays saxophone in a jazz band. Honestly, between the two it's pretty close. to feel this much dislike for somebody alongside so much not sympathy, but like what was that what were you saying?

Like, oh, dude, you're s you're so fucked up. scene in uh the office where Ricky Gervais is dancing at the party and like he's not he's dancing in like a pretty silly way I I I I certainly hope so. It is a lot faster if that is your jam, especially with um I hate fast apps. Yeah, uh that that was all. I mean I love drafts so much and I feel like I'm being disloyal to even try a different one. Um lots of things I like. Date colon space 2025-054-02, right? Starts and it's where do we get to the funniest one of these? uh via bookmarkled or apple sh Apple shortcuts. It yeah, but you can also edit it via uh like uh what uh uh it it can also be like a WYSIWYG. Jonesy, which is the cat from Alien and also the name of my computer appears in this.

The yes, you can uh change it. Actions for this in the app store. Me oh, what a nice place that I've never been. Uh it's I mean I I I I I am inferring, perhaps incorrectly, that the name comes from something involving parachutes a long time ago. Shower curtain. Okay, that's cool. uh I uh what I'll do is I I want there to be more light. But but you learn a thing in the second act and by the way I I I I think you know my my my new my new thing about spoilers is it's gonna make me even more unpopular. for me to uh talk about Elon Musk's appearance you do it to you because uh well and and try you look hot right now uh MB sent me a photo of you too was it was like man Hachi mochi look at these two But uh I have a photograph to to send you.

skin and if you start sending me photos, I will send you a close up of Tulsa Gap. care that a niche show that was on a now multi-million dollar network was just like nope you're not in our feed anymore because you know it's too much of an ask for our advertisers. I know. Thing I said to John is I think it's beneficial. I mean, the reading, I mean, like, I realize the crucible is not from the 1600s, but like the crucible's not really about witch trials. Right. the m man like Andrew Tate stuff, but it's more in the context of we don't understand our kids, not my parents trying so hard to figure out like it's like well wait like Alex gets good grades like what uh But it is very well some people I think would watch that fourth episode and think it's nihilistic, perhaps.

You can't feel the feeling, really. The daddy list? What if phones put too much? This is a piece of media that I think could have been made at any time. That you know, we probably gave our kid a phone too early and I'm like, I don't know, man. moral panics are n the people who uh no no one has ever said that they should be afraid of those types of people. I don't know. I'm oh god, I almost said lynch mob and I absolutely don't mean that. I would be a little bit skeptical about the number of people who are currently obsessed with trying to find out what is quote real I think in a allied, if not identical, way to the way that you are. were bringing i in looms and unskilled workers and replacing them.

Wait, wait, wait, what's the thing? It it gets boring to hear about how angry No it's not you're not bored though. You're not getting through and that's frustrating you. Um uh hey, the challenge this week doesn't exactly have a name. Yes, and it is can you hear that that that's thunder? Uh very good. And in fact, they, as with Reader, in some cases, I think, they do a pretty good job of not making you look at every piece of functionality all the time. Yes. But it seems like there's probably some savvy ways to have it both ways. There there really isn't. So hard to watch. It's uh also ver very upsetting that like his flying he doesn't even have as many flies Oh, absolutely. And you know what? Um let's see, daily notes.

Um oh I coulda sounded really fucking smart and I forgot the phrase I always forget. I use uh the uh I guess official Obsidian web clipper. I mean they have Stephen King as well. Or hang on. Oh it was becoming unmanageable. Like like I finally with Dennis I finally made that a list. Huh. Tim Heideker has gotten not weird, but have you watched him like recently recently? Mmm, take some dedication. He looks like a uh uh just someone who has not yet learned how to dress Uh this is so cute. that this man occupies the my brain space. Um so you said you were gonna pretend things I s I said made sense. Hips. Not only was that an old Henny Youngman joke in the sixties, it was a very old Henny Youngman joke in 1990 when it was in Goodfellas.

I truly my takeaway from this is extremely different from almost everybody else's takeaway from this. This is we learned this from Alex Jones. Um yeah, I just kept the storytelling, my god. struggling against some part of nature or life, the world, existence that they're they have absolutely no business trying trying to fight. video game that y you can't really play it anymore unless you um either uh pirate it or find some hardware to play it. I I believe I I don't know, but you're making me think of the social dilemma, which is how social media is so bad and it is made by the people who made social. saw not my first thought, but I'm like are the people they it it at least feels to me. And I I I think that the what you're describing, you put it really well, which is I'm not trying to say one person's smarter than another, but but y'all, you you cannot recognize when you're being sold.

And that was a really big deal to me. No, we do. the dehumanization of uh human bodies and he's a pretty interesting and very colorful guy, but now he's also your starving African child Uh what do you what do you mean about and be because I'm I don't want to talk about it anymore. I don't know. Okay, do you remember that? The bring my comedy. I I We've talked about this. The uh I like I like Obsidian a lot. The the only reason I mention it is because people want their I mean f yeah for a long time I could only of afford an iOS device and it was was pretty slow on iOS but now it's so much with every question I have. File. I think I take it in good faith and hope that it's a way to think about It was mostly like painting rooms and stuff that wasn't too stressful.

every child. I didn't say it was incredibly weird. A lot of things kind of it what was wrong with saying I was bored? But yeah, you can't do water sports and that disappoints a lot of people. I have just I just keep watching adolescence and I am surprised. Have you tried it without subtitles? Yes. My immediate takeaway was just uh you still laugh when uh uh you're going through a myrtle murder to myrtle. people still have days when they I mean you still love your family when y you're living under tyranny, like Like what is at what is at almost every Werner Herzog movie have in common, it's about somebody st struggling against a nature You're missing the majesty of this show by trying to turn it into an after school special.

Community, anger, frustration, anxiety, and sometimes xenophobia. And so wait, we look at that and we go like, oh, studio, studio Ghibli slop, slop A little less impenetrable. The shit that people sa say to him. Um, hey, that's all good. For m point of sale type stuff, you need uh you don't have the Apple Pay as in like the The I I do I do both. Oh, yeah. Say why the YAML is better now for people who who didn't even know what I mean. Absolutely. It's like it's like it's like a warm blanket of loneliness. I well he there's a lot of disclaimers. Anyway, I'll find out. Let's see what do we have. Oh, I disagree. Before he gets into talking to his buddy. Violence. because of how it's done. how people are reacting to it and you had very very strong feelings about it but you didn't express those feelings other than that it is a gift Yeah, that's and this is not um I there a few people have to be.

of how often our emotions start process or start trying to find a place for something long before rationality ever gets its pants on. more like i it's really profitable to t scare people like but like like we said but it is But that doesn't mean I mean I look at six photos that it I should send you some of these. They're like not uh I don't have an opinion. You can just tell that like he's just I don't think he has moments where he feels good about life, I bet Doesn't matter. Wait, you forgot an important thing with the YAML. Colin. What? Squeeze the reason I'm thinking about that is I just bought something that I didn't really need because it seemed interesting, and that's Paracord. Heavy lift.

A mobile project. I want to phrase this so carefully. And um and to to produce uh useful things that nobody notices that I did. Yeah. Are you calling me for the show? Hmm. Not a ton. I mean, I don't know. It's it it but I mean and it's not that it's a simple thing. Like but anyways, I g I I'm just saying like it's like man, you guys gotta fucking check your check your six, man. Yes, I feel she does um that she without without sounding like an insult. Oh no, I'm not sure. Everything's penetrable if you're hungry enough. You got on the plane and you forgot to sync your notes? He's Dutch. The yes, yes aunt. Ooh, all right. I am I've got an internal debate going because I he he modulates to an audience that isn't me anymore.

Last week. I thought it last minute had been changed back to tattoo, but we start talking about tattoos a little bit. This is a horrible photo. I don't care about that. You know? The Paul Rudd works out at the beginning. And even if it were, we'd still read it and understand that you could put in like dollar sign TK issue. That's still that could still be told as a great story. Like it and that's not that insightful and I it also feels like reductive, I think, but um With 40 plus shortcut actions, it brings your notes and automations together, making obsidian a first-class citizen gross When the guy hit him with his van, you know, he was going to town to get some of them Mazasbas. Or conversely, I want to get rid of fucking everything except for what is visible if I turn 360 in my room.

Another thing women love, this is what got Chris into hooks. And at one point she says to Rach Rachel Vice, today's Hildebrandt's Day. No, he just really it you know, uh not quite land acknowledgments, but like comedy acknowledgments of the people he's never found funny. Making my making my hair aquare on face. Yeah I mean I d I don't remember a lot of people being into it that like we're talking about it. I said, oh, alright. Some the first time I actually I didn't I just happened to not have subtitles on because I was watching it on my phone and I it was like oh I don't know how to turn subtitles on on this. No, he talked I I did listen to the whole thing because he mentioned I listened uh I was, you know I might actually hit burn in the loops.

I uh this is this is my take. Really? Say things like what? Yeah, most other people call it bungee cords, but yeah, paracord is the actual name. Oh that's a shit. What's not it's just a it's a it's a it's it's it's the m most long form unwatchable series of all time called On Cinema at the Cinema. You know the face I'm talking about, right? Well, I I I think I it was Chris, Chris, oral sex has gone mainstream. And he he intentionally had microphones everywhere so that they could come to the city. Maybe it's It'll end the story will endure beyond whatever happens in this time. You like you're putting people out of work by scaling up things like, you know what, like wool, like turning wool into yarn, stuff like that?

I do it I do this like probably twice a year and I just want to do it again because I feel like doing the voice. But I love the I just l so I don't I'll you know what? I hasn't that always been there? Let's not talk about that. Is this another thing that I'm speculating about Stephen King? Well it wasn't like uh that's not how he talked a decade ago. What do you mean? Is it is it real? That's the point. We we we do. That's why I compulsively ask questions about people and not art. Ooh, which one? And Obsidian is uh is an app and a service, a platform that uh does texty things and it's got tons of plugins and it's got lots of stuff and it's got syncing and it seems really well made to me. Which is I'm going to what's the phrase some people use?

It's hot in here. We'll just set aside all of that and look at like what I need to do to like not get in everyone's way. That takes a kind of unearned confidence that not every man can find, but many do. No, but it's it's not about it it it's based in uh there was another version that was like based in an old Let's let's save tattoos for now. Yeah, no. And that's kind of uh why um I've been using it. This should hang in schools. Because that's where that's where most of my day is. Here's the one I thought you would enjoy. And then like they'd always have a funny one where you're like, oh yeah, that's really true. But I think I have been I I think I've had millage privilege in the hotels I've stayed at.

Or or possibly it was because of the vaccines that Dr. No spit. I didn't really I don't um it's not that I don't care about the filmmaking. And I I will just be to be super clear, I'm not saying that's not a legitimate reading of this at all. Oh, you're talking about Stephen Graham. Yeah, did you ever have overheads? It was more, I think, to s sell a m uh more expensive version of the game with like d a DLC. It would be cynical to like say, you know, any any of the things that I might be inclined to say about having too much stuff. Oh, I take a lot of compute to, you know, put all the things. You do say whatever you want. And now I will go to Drafts. That wasn't a headline. You had a list of I think topics, but you wanted to jump straight into Mickey 17?

I heard what it actually sounded like when he talked. Anyways, um and I love I love the I love his friends that he calls. He's a daddy. Does that have to do with what we're talking about? Like when I want to look at a big long ass. Yeah, there's a bunch of indexing. Oh, I I hate this. I think I you know, I think this show is popular enough that we could get Stephen King. And I mean it's a lot of kids that she's miscarried. Um uh but you you know what you'll get everything you need from that video that I find for you. Um, it's just called Bully and uh it's about uh exactly what you'd think. I guess in twenty twenty five times our emotions get engaged before our rationality and sometimes give me a fucking break.

So there's kind of a Dutch like Afrikaner. Do you want old Merlin or new Merlin? It's pretty cool. Like not all like he came in with a plan and it's rarely the first time he's brought a guitar to a party. I don't care about that. Yes. At least when the guy builds the boat, you know, there's progress and stuff, and he's got a girlfriend and there's dogs and and Poncho the Parrot Netflix has uh I have an opinion about it. It truly is a cinematic masterpiece. Take out every one of those and use the word spreadsheet in in um like 1998. I even noticed a crazy goddamn thing the other day. That's well here's the thing. Number one, you can share from Safari to drafts and in drafts run an action. And then she she she there's there's what she does is in turns she gives each rabbit a special day with lots of care and love.

Oh, oh, all I had was um I haven't I have a little bit of follow-up. Okay, you're clicking, you're pasting. Like everybody's facing all of this all the time. I can't, it's not my day to watch you. It's the end of life? Um um um yeah, that was good. Um He has Polish baby bearing hips. I don't think I had too much else on the list from the last time I I apologize that I haven't s sent the bell. To be honest, maybe it's not weird. But just the way these stories keep coming up is that's I'm trying to I'm I mean I'm struggling with this like twelve hour old idea of mine of like, hey, how about we over here we've got this artistic ability to do what they're doing here and the the technical ability and Do you not underst you're not grasping what's happening here and you're getting mad at something that's already irrelevant?

Uh there a few big differences from the last time we tried Obsidian. He's a bummer of a human being. He really doesn't want to be problematic in any way from everyone I don't know anything about that, but I I mean you're the one who would know. I uh well unfortunately, apparently the two things that aren't allowed on uh OnlyFans uh happen to be uh P P and Poop. Are we back on my bathroom camera? That's I love that phrase he keeps using. There's not a lot of you're not doing folks, you're not doing a lot to improve anything, except you're showing yourself to be a person who's not regulating their emotions very particularly well right now, and you're lashing out and trying to find other people who lash out.

I'm saying that you know what we do, we do. But so I'll sometimes if I've ordered like say Instacart and I need to watch it for replacements especially, I'll set it up on my little anchor, you know, easel battery and leave the screen on and it always goes off. Let's finish up, let's finish this up. Yes, and I agree with you. Um running stock, which is pretty cool. The fourth time I watched the first episode, I turned them off and everything w seemed so much more intense. I like to be a little bit more than a little bit. What? Not the 13 reasons why. I know and I don't know why. And it's you just need to put in your Apple, either your uh passcode or your Apple ID to get back into the um Okay, that sounds like a made-up thing.

Then seven bucks will get you a cup of coffee. Oh, I just we have a we have a shower curtain that I love. That gets rid of my other question. I had all my shirts and my and I had my baseball cap and everything, everything but my content book hanging on the wall because I was inspired by Chris. Mm. 'Cause 'cause there's always this post hoc thing where we want to go back and and turn everything over and try to find the story that shows us what somebody did wrong, what we can do to avoid it. I really She well no when she gets frustrated and just gives up on the argument she's losing, she says she says you're fake news and stomps away. Isn't Manda cute? Like having an auto lock, auto lock thing that was like, you know, so many seconds or minutes to five five minutes?

So he was an early pioneer in the project. And um and so uh I have a lot of those kinds of things. Miss where where does Eric where's where's Eric? But um, people love spit. But for somebody comes to town and now everything's different, could be the music man, could be Matt Dillon, I don't know. No, this is nineteen eleven. But he just it gets crazier and he just starts dancing harder and harder and harder. Yeah. Because that wouldn't be like me saying I've only ever taken a shit once in my life, which is five minutes ago, and here's a photo of it. But you know what I said to John is and you know what I I I had to confess, as I confess to Madeline, I think not seeing this as something about phones and the manosphere helps me enjoy it so much more and makes it feel less like an after school special.

Yeah, it's like they slid this they slid this fairly this happens to uh to a lot of people, I think, is they, I don't know, I think of something like And it's like that's how it got written up, and that maybe was what the assignment was sometimes. The storytelling. I'm not a monster. Uh oh we were gonna talk about my shower curtain, my paracord. Oh, the ones hyphenated. And so like I think especially in the third episode, there's very well to say there's long shots in this. You know, remember all the crisis actors and the Laughing Father? Uh something inexorable coming along that changes everything and we find how that changes people. Stephen Graham's a daddy. Like there's plugins that you can well shortcuts is all now.

That's not true. Uh the duh du Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. And it's like I feel like there's almost this overlay we put over somebody and like it could be an overlay as simple as like a round wrecked and a tree. I mean you can feel it, but you'll be real confused about it and yell at people for no reason. You can be a transhumanist person if you're any kind of person who wants to look at more interesting ways to be a human being. I'm a li I'm the biggest fan, though. But is there also uh ways to gauge the like bunge-ness of it? It might be an un you just did an unconventional fancy for your family. That's impressive. Randy Newman. Everyone's always guessing things. But from even just the interview with gosh, what's his name?

They have to get a few minutes. Here that's probably before your time. Um no, I j I just don't I get a little bit grumpy when people um misunderstand letism and also uh they don't know the context of that Miyazaki. Doesn't matter. It's nice the the the if you don't want to. That'll make way for the whole superior. Whoa. Uh how did you lift let's say the I'm not talking about water skiing. Yeah. I do. What and like yeah, I guess I I I mean I absolutely see that as a POV. It seems kind of early to start deciding what all of this means right now. Is that what he said? I do, but I'm not part of the community. I watched a really good YouTube video about rope recently. I yes. I hate both of them. No Tulsa.

You know what choking? Is this how yeah well he's I mean you can tell from the like so here's what he actually looks like. But sh I think she's a person who is more open to the idea that kids get phones too early. I listened to that fresh air interview thinking like what I'm like what is his like take? Is it because this is just my own hang up, but is it because you want to acquire what Frank Booth had and then you can do bad things? Natalie. I love using this on a Mac in particular so much. Especially at now that his uh hi his daughter who's like very self-aware for a twenty year old. And it will then even it it will still reflect the changes via YAML if you open it via just uh text. This Chat G PC is stealing my job.

Make observations about my life. He was oh how can I put this? You look like you're in a dance class. Oh man. It doesn't matter what the the thing I find myself sc like screaming and ranting about, not not because of John, but just because we're kind of agreeing. Um but if you know if you flip on, remember when they added like the Apple Pay stuff and the extra security and the I don't know exactly what caused it, but then it was like Maybe we could talk tattoos in after show or or whatever, but we gotta talk about obsidian. 'Cause you you know, you is you is Obsidian still your kind of your go to text thing? It's so bad. I just wanted to st talk about the changes that people I've got a list. Uh is there an easy way to add things from Safari on Mac?

It's such a good point. This is so your shit. So Google Neil Hamburger and look just find a photo of him. I'm not. John never has subtitles on for anything in English. But then they're beating themselves up like any parent would. Like it was liberals who first started saying fake news. It's high millage, very high millage, which I like. It was a pretty good gig because you got a full room, like a 15 by 15 room to yourself, and you worked like right outside your front. Yeah. And there's something in the discourse you're mad about, it sounds like uh uh no, I'm not mad. Yeah, like his what his initial motivation just thinking about what this would be. Yes. And I I love that. That's what Nelly said.

Greg Torkington. Um boy that that is an amazing comb over. I I just wroved, adored every moment of humanity and happiness. And, you know, I think it would be v I don't know, and now we're just we're just, you know, agreeing at at loud volume, but like to try in any way to minimize the the majesty of this filmmaking But but the the new obsession with what is real and what is authentic and what is rustic and what is like, oh, let's all fight let's fight LLM slop by linking to an independent artist and it's like, oh honey. And in some cases it was, and it always sucks. That's what she looks like in real life. Oh I thought you couldn't do that if you had TK pile of security stuff. You can make this thing, you can fuck this thing up real good.

I don't know how you are there. And it tells me how to do that. Why are people talking about this? Yeah. Do you have uh list? I'm a big fan of of of Tim and Tim and Eric. If you find one example of you saying that, that'll prove you said it once. Okay, and you were making a headline joke about OnlyFans. Why is Lisa okay? I don't think so. I I have uh fucked up many vaults and that that's part of the fun of it is because you just started easily Like there's all kinds of stuff that I would, well at the very least, I would much prefer to do on a Mac, almost everything. I'm clicking, I'm going to my absolute. Actions? What that? You want fresh Merlin or stale Merlin? Chris wanted to be able to see everything he owned at once Uh-huh.

I remember when we first started seeing tardigrades on the internet and I I didn't love it. Where are we right now, Alex? I'm not a Marin mom, but I am a San Francisco dad, and I can sniff it out when somebody's trying to freak me out. Like show me the lie. She's I I was going to say she's she does not chicken problem as much. I haven't sent the bell. Yes. But I just love this. Uh uh show notes, show notes, show notes. I I just um it no I'm glad it's a possibility. At least for me, if I really want to look at something, I gotta start from stock and just see what what can't I do with stock. Well, and that's the nice part too. Because you uh made Elon Musk have a German slash Belgian of German accent.

If if um if Hugh Frasier is narrating, then I can typically listen. Like he, you know, he's trying to like play it off legit and be like, yeah, I know this is stupid. I'm just trying to figure out a side door way to do the stuff I I need to do quickly with, you know, the iOS part of it. And now I'm just talking about Mac OS as well. Like I like all of those options. It automatically creates a clippings folder, but you can change wherever you want it to go. Okay, well why is it m why is it relevant? He's a guy's little fire plug. But the story that's being told here is not that different. Something like that? Two things can be true at the same like frustration. I'm telling you, I didn't know I had to sync my notes.

Oh yeah, yeah, I said YAML and Obsidian. So two people sharing a bathroom, not too shabby. Bring back com legalized comedy. I'm great, but d did you write down a list? They have a very similar body type, and I and I get to claim this math because what? Well you gotta see him on the show. Maybe it is, if I were gonna be cynical about this, I would say in retrospect, it's entirely expected that trying to find the story hook for this What do you mean by it? He thinks he's funny and he's not. I know and it's it's tired, but like he's so tired. It it includes it includes it in my iSpy photos of my office that I make the word drafts and do by Friday up here. Use it. I know, yay! Now I think I need to do it with Chris too.

There's a lot of either product or bottle. Oh, no, that's a- Also I don't think we say tardigrade anymore. It but look at I'm thrilled with the direction that went. It's after that. And but I I feel like the people who can't sense Fi I think five minutes was like the longest. Yeah, it is. Ye I don't know if they're emotionally as close to him as you are, but Why do you why why do you why you why do you say things like that I went to the Dingus and I asked the Dingus, what's all this, what's the deal with Paracord? And I went and looked and it actually was literally the wrong date and I don't know why. You know what? You know, and it's it's really not anybody's style. Uh life is fucking impossible for almost everybody, at least some of the time.

That goddamn Netflix show. And it's so embarrassing to watch. I'm gonna close that. What's Dynalus Clipper? You know what choking? That's really that somebody wants you to know that, like it's in the script. Do you imagine I I I do you think I don't understand how frustrating it is to have your stuff gobbled up by an LLM and used in these models? It drives me crazy when I'm trying to see like I don't know, nobody cares. But Chris would always have, like like, like myself, Chris had projects. Yeah. Okay. No, I already sent it to you. But no, I would love No, please. Mm. Yes, Natalie Wynn in an amazing video about conspiracies and Okay. She's she she's already made dinner, they've done the dishes and her iPad still has a recipe.

Well, also because, you know, I try to leave my baggage at the at the at the train platform. Uh uh y yes and uh just have a f Have you seen this? Hmm. He's kinda d d done. He has one face that he makes him Madame and me always laugh. Eric Werheim. But where you have like transparent, you know, plastic you can draw on before whiteboards. But like I think it's it I I'm not saying it's hopeful. I cannot hold your dick while you figure out what the future looks like when nobody knows what the future looks like. Yeah, it's Natalie she seems like she's she's like deliberately trying to be a little more chill and not mainstream exactly, but like a little more I think Alec from Technology Connections is pretty great at that.

Everybody look up here. Um please. Sand gave him. He did. I d it's one of those I'd like to avoid It's just how people are. But the villagers with torches, let's put it that way, kind of feeling around LM's right, if you don't see that And David Lynch is like, isn't the world beautiful? Do you care? In fact, Drafts has amazing uh actions in the city. It's a bit. Because you know, I don't usually share those kinds of things about you. Oh really? This is so your shit. Hey Alex, off the record, that guy's not okay. I mean for me he's the human personification of a guy who brings a guitar to a party. Um I I I I don't know. It's like Jesus fuck people. It's the pyramid of the capitalist system. So like the kinds of questions I was asking Chatty G, is there a way to change the bullet style, you know?

It's called properties now. Why do you do that? LL Bean. He was the guy with the band-aid. Uh no, I think Ed Kemper. Anyway, I'll send you won't have to watch the whole series. Hips. Can we please stop with this shit and please focus on the aesthetic decision of directing your attention in the way that they I always I think this is I I'm being very um Buddy, really. It's wild. So can't be the fakest thunder I've ever heard. Uh yes. He's obviously a a he is deeply unhappy. And I have decided that it's okay I said it one time. Have you seen his new look? It's so much more intense to me. It's not a simple thing for anybody. Okay, I'm like waiting for copyright. But what no really what do you mean about Natalie Windows?

And all the stuff you a lot of the stuff you've seen from Tim Heideker in the last five years is actually kind of part of that. But um yeah. I just I just noticed that Netflix has the same shrill, girly voice that you do. Are you just not aware when somebody knows how to freak you out? It's fucking that true. I'll figure it out. Um the uh it's just fun to say obviously. No, I don't have an opinion one way or another. I don't have a file. I said how to show document links. This stuff I think part of what you know what? Alright, no, I was gonna say that the bathroom camera, unfortunately, I don't know if there's any way for you to You've you've already said this, but I Yeah, yeah, it's perhaps it is that it could have been made any time.

I know what you're talking about. So I got some and I've been dealing with it and uh it's interesting. No, please. And so I push the shower curtain all the way to the side, but it's still because of the millage I think it expands a little bit. Oh, that's yeah, no the warmer it gets setting up. You know. Are your friends choking? But um the the the kids having phones too much too often, what if phones but too much, but then also the manosphere stuff. This isn't yes. There's spice and there's ships and stuff happens and they weave between the stars and And it's funny because when he has a guest, you can see how he modulates his weirdness to the guest, which I really admire. I have listened to a bunch of old ones before uh squirrel rabies.

I'm not! And you know, how do we still love what people we love? Like, oh, will I lose my job as a programmer? And then we got then we shoot at you, the clerics and clergy, we fool you. Um and the lot of people I doubt your commitment to I've gotten this. Because there's no way to check that. The things that I'm speculating about you are just made up things that I'm just stipulating for no reason? We only have to be a little bit more. Um don't worry, it's not upsetting. Yeah. I really don't want to spoil this. I find that such a more interesting message than than kids have phones. But there was a docuseries on Netflix about how phones are the worst thing in the world and our kids are monsters.

And you gotta have the pause. Oh, did they change how long you can have your iPhone screen be on? Or like all I want to see. I have a funny hat. You know, it's you know what I mean? It is it's optimized for Mac OS and well, no, honestly, any desktop. Anyhow, yeah, use drafts as an inbox bridge. Pack your own shoot. And one time one time around 2000, early 2000s, it was cardboard box was added as like a they got the Thalberg Award for like Toy of the Millennium. Um Well you did think it was my birthday. Now, I think my wife and I might differ somewhat on what we're looking for on the liner, as you as you say. I you know what? Um but one thing I Yeah, and and I was thinking about it as uh y you know, someone who is Oh yeah, where uh oh my new term inside house.

Obsidian is way, way faster than it used to be. Main show. He's very funny. He's in my height list. The thing that's a big problem to everybody, again, I'll say it again. There was a some show that was like, we're not going to put the script online because we don't want to use it. But I think part of the path to that is to say something maybe a little silly. Have you seen Kenneth Braun's um uh the Hercule movies? Yeah, Yam's YAML's a neat thing. Maybe I'm wrong. I think he's an easy guy. Well there's so many ways Chris has inspired me. I'm not recommending this, but if you ever wanted to, you could go to YouTube and find like I'm like, uh I mean, well, talk about tech headlines. Absolutely. Yep, uh a guide to the adolescence emoji.

I and the same thing with that Miyazaki quote. I want to make a little compilation of uh David Lynch quotes. No, no, I'm sorry. I love that it just does YAML right out of the box. Yes. And I don't know if this is a bad or discredited thing, the as if thing. Chris had decided, now this is new college, fifteen by fifteen, that's bigger than you think. He did. Why is it but we're bringing a headline in again? I'm not saying it doesn't matter. You are the big bul bully and you know, mid-max as they say. No, I think she's uh I don't know, I don't know how to put it, but like she seems I like that video those videos. Um but also just I just I'm so thrilled. And like I just I don't want to be a you know, I don't wanna I don't wanna sound weird about it, but like I'm so grateful for drafts and it's not like I'm saying, alas, I must stop using I'm not saying that at all.

I don't have like yeah, exactly. Let me skip number two for now. This is why I love computers in one place. Big guy. May I ask how you uh I haven't sent you your bell yet. But No no, I mean the one maybe I don't know, maybe they picked a bad one or I was in a weird mood, but No. Yeah, I like the one with the stock man who hits buttons. Am I saying his name wrong? Yeah. But it's something like uh it's something like go back to Obsidian or look at Obsidian again. It knows I love drafts. And Chris getting into hooks is got what got me into hooks. But I've realized, you know, there's certain kinds of ways my mind works that are not gonna align well with how normal people think. And what we learn I think at some point in the second act is she has all those rabbits.

Who does David Ferrier call? Right? I just uh Oh I I I that I that's half of what I had to say last night is can we please stop f again, heck tech headlines I saw the light coming into the door. People are idiots and I hate all of them. I'm going to Obsidian. I How do you feel when people do that about you? Do you want to talk about my shower curtain? No, no, it's it's you know, in order for me to navigate the world, let's just set aside whether I'm happy. What's he doing? Uh look at me, I got a cheese hat. Yeah, I do, yes. Okay. Anyways, yes, yes. And it's like, well, that's not that is so not how it works. 1985, 86, so whatever. It sucks. And the reason I say it here, and this is where I start to feel like I'm being a bad friend, Yeah, well, neither was I.

But let me let me now let me put that a different way that gets to the specifics. Like when Tim Heidecker brought Tom Cruise Jr. Um I love to laugh and I spent I spent a lot of my day uh just cloaked cloaked in loneliness just trying to laugh. Ooh, yes. Thank you, Elon. Um I would be I would love to hear what you have to say and uh and uh I I I think I can talk about do you want to talk about here? That's how people communicate now. I don't see that as well. Just because it's been running kind of long, we still have to do another episode. You notice you notice a speed bump. I'm excited, Alex. That woman, whose last name is Crawford, won pretty decisively last night, despite all the spend, as you say.

Wait, wait, is this hold on. You really you didn't commit to the bit. It's just f he has Polish shocking baby bearing It's a really good movie. You pay money and you act like you're a dad who likes girls. I mean, and and like I'm not I I don't say that from I don't I'm not saying that to be unkind to people. I mean, you're interested in at least the idea of transhumanism, right? That's that's the wife. Do you know who Greg Turkington is? In fact, I should I should find it's not here because but transcribe things. I'm not guessing anything! And this is I'm like, oh, so you couldn't have made this twenty years ago. And then that got that got that gets to where now that's just something Marjorie Green says to people.

But like I'm super into the world of possibilities. Um but I think it it says they're saying we eat for you, but it says nous man genon. Yeah, but also just opening it. Anyways, and so um and I li I like it fine, but when I take a bath, which I do a lot, because I think I have a cold inner in her core. Reading about the the the sound choices. And it doesn't get better. Do you ever see the favorite? Yes, I understand you all become meme, I know. You think that's the last thing that this will ever do? But uh I'm thrilled that these are just two of the many options that I have. Yes. You can add enough stuff that it becomes practically unusable. Yeah, and it it it creates um That's just something people say in ads now.

I want I want fresh. But Chris had a project one year he has Um how are you doing? I see. I love that woman. Yeah. Oh goodness gracious. He he and Tim don't really see eye to eye on what the show's about. The whole thing started. No. On the bottom is all these people. Yeah, I noticed a toggle in there that seemed related to that. Um, and that's neat, and that's great. Do I need a plug-in? No, no, no, no. I don't know, but I I but his face probably looks like this right now. I uh you know what? It's not a show I could recommend to really anybody. I know it's a comedy comb over, but it's still so goddamn funny. Oh, and there's a picture of him when he was an Ant Man. And I was saying I think it's valuable because for one thing, they give you a lot, if you got SDH or CC on, you'll see Let's think about like the Iliad But like how is that any different than the way the world has always been?

I just think you can't you cannot glean somebody's accent from text And it gives me three things. Source, author, publish date. This is Duby Friday, a weekly challenge podcast with Alex Cox and Merlin Mann. What's uh uh bungee bungee now I know that there's uh like different Oh, absolutely. I just was set your family this week. Why is this one is this something problematic? He's far better known by this character that's been around since the nineties. People are have the ears to hear this, that version of this, let's be honest. It's like all the fall de roll and you know all the tumult about everything around LLMs right now where it's like Are you I'm really white lotus He's really not funny.

I mean you climb on to people who say the sorts of things that appeal to you, and I mean I guess that And it's like, yep, YAML Front Matters fully supported. Beep mobile and this is actually uh it's in the app store, uh the macOS app store actually. I will send you a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little My kid's taller than him. Does that answer your question? It's amazing. I I sort of use this as my uh like I'm just trying to keep the shot. If I and it's smart. I think as of as of right this minute, I'm gonna try a new thing. And this has little tiny tiny bits of scenes from Jaws. That's where I cooked. Got a lot going on here, a lot happening.

Isn't that sweet? Mm-hmm. Right. I I don't think that's the point. There there's a point where, you know, they do address I've I've I've I haven't watched that many YouTube videos about Luddites, but I was like, wait, that's not how people dress. Well it doesn't sink. I mean, I guess this is still getting a little bit into You know, as I slip into further and further irrelevance. But when he's talking about how people will talk during Coronation Street, it's like, well, yeah, I mean, like you, you know, you're still gonna talk about that stuff. This is you sound like every single person. Like, I mean, one thing this does that I really wish drafts had, well, first it's got folding. But he's always making pronouncements.

I love you. Like nobody likes a flimsy shower curtain that like sticks to your It's sh fin it's just, you know, shocking. And I mean that's that's not quite the same as like knocking a door down, but it's incredibly tense. It's not the one with the teens and self-harm, but the it's the one about like it's the the Netflix show about how phones are destroying children. Tall talk for a smoker. In passing, but I went and just looked it up and looked into it a little more. No, I don't care. They all the shortcuts the shortcuts team got put with the Apple Intelligence team and it's a big shit. Look at me. It's like I I know it's it's become really tired and I personally don't like it when people go, well, I just think it's sad, but it is sad.

I'm gonna keep playing with this and don't- Oh, wait a minute, wait a minute. Okay, I wasn't that the challenge I'm not saying it's nihilistic. Why are we wrong why why why are we writing this now? Impenetrable. It starts with the song changes, which is also very good. But that's not how Elon Musk sounds. And finally you can hear just hear him I'll always remember you can hear him grunting. What is Actions for Obsidian, Merlin? And they've got there I think they're they're nearer to Canada than I am. Um, oh man, the wedding present. It's all packaged up. Yes. No, it wasn't a headline joke. Is it R R R Oh shoot? There's so much power and there's so much community and anger. Lace it up. That it's one of the great technologies.

Uh Merlin looked like that. Oh, interesting, because that was the other half of what I had to say last night Really? Did you know we're seventy one minutes into this episode? Um it's probably yet another markup language, I think it means. Like it's the GUI, you don't just uh see it as like a um like a drop down. Oh, I don't like that. That was at that Editor Quinn's wedding. There's a reason all that mythology I love hard noir. It helped me with that. And so it says use drafts as an inbox bridge. I got it. I mean nothing in particular. I'm not gonna say because it doesn't matter. Because culture's not your costume. I know choking's big. I haven't watched the whole series. And then David Lynch goes.

I got too much going on here, Alex. You read them, you don't listen to them, how would you know how he talks? That's why it's funny, it's metaphony. Oh, that's so fucking funny you should say that. Yeah. I don't know. I'm saying this is neorealism. It was one in the morning. Uh not bonded pair, twisted pair. Number three, use a bookmarklet for quick clipping. But like people are always talking about paracords. Every time we see him make this one face. He's got a look. So you watched the whole thing and then you watched it again. Catharsis in some ways is going like, ugh. Right. Just all the headlines I've come across are all like, ugh. Will I lose my job as somebody who does spot graphics for a paper?

You're angry. Like there's food deliveries, there's Instacart, there's things happening. Yeah. Yeah, then send that to Obsidian. Ball on a stick, yeah. I've seen bits of it. Hildebrandt. Also, why can't why can't he grow facial hair? Uh almost everybody in Trump's cabinet has weird Yeah, at the top of every episode, he calls a friend of his in New Zealand, different friends. You know what I mean? Oh, damn. Well everybody else is so fucking mad about everything. Tell me about that. I mean Chris's vi has been very inspiring to me in in many ways. Because I don't I don't how would we know that there weren't other times Why isn't r I didn't bring a headline on it? I don't know what you want to talk about.

Well, I don't know because it's like Well, it's like, I know, I mean, maybe I now maybe I'm making a straw man, but it would bump, but let me put it this way, it would bum me out. We're the weird ones. Now I have uh something I ran across in Oh fuck, you've already seen it. That's look at me. And I have to admit, that's pretty cool. I just grabbed it. It's another kind of man strap down. I cooked in my bathroom. Huh. I said, oh, alright. That's not what's not what he did, and that's not why also Because Jesus fuck, can you even imagine? I don't think he understands what funny is. It gets worse. Well, uh even like the little Maz. Yeah, briefly. And and his son Tom Cruise Jr. I kind of cut off your list.

Uh yeah, he appeared on stage in the cheese hat. I wasn't talking to anyone about anything. Uh he was like, Oh it mu it must be the parents and he thought, wait, let me like just a lot of things. The photos that it's generating for me and the stuff that it's able to do that was literally impossible two weeks ago. That's crazy. That's so cool. Talking about ridged chips. No, no. Oh, I can't. I don't know. Like like I said to John, like this could be in the 16th century and worrying that your your kid committed a crime because you didn't make him go to church enough. You can't land on a fraction. That's probably that's probably problematic. Uh the challenge this week was Main show. He's actually kind of funnier than ever.

But like everything's different and people are dealing with stuff that is going to be an intractable problem that disrupts the way that we live. Like their films are just my apocryphal David Lynch story again, just so I get to do the voice. It's not that carrot rope song that accidentally got popular on Spotify, like it's a real song. Isn't it well done? Yes. Oh no, I was just going to say that um Or sorry. I heard you got over 10,000 five-star reviews. Uh I've heard the name. I just need, you know, I'm procrastinating because I got tickets at the store. Just What? Because there's so many things that you can, should, will, might And uh like it's a lot of things. But like sometime between like the prime the prime time, my favorite part of the night, the part I would enjoy my night the most.

Because it used to be like you could have your phone, I believe me, I know this from my So if I have the date be a future date, it'll publish it later rather than now. back. Now if I if I if I found that and put it in notes, would you would you look at it? Yeah, that really that was like a 2008 suddenly Tartar. I'm not saying it's either. A lot of the Like, is this really how you want to spend the rest of your life? You're frustrated. Keyboard command for moving lines up and down. It makes sense because it's tied around things I don't know. Um so what else did I have on my list? Or if you're me and you're being really dead fucking honest and you really do accept this as a as a kind of I am saying, are you sure that's the only or nearly only reading of this?

I'm like this It It's all and and and if you think you're in, you know, hey, you know, we got our own kinds of xenophobia. I don't know if it'll stick. And we spent like a couple days with them in Los Angeles hanging out. I finally figured I should get some, so I got some Type 3550 Paracord. No, I mean yes. I could not have anticipated that, and only you can say that. Everybody's talking about choking now. I uh I'm just I'm so subsumed in your idea of whatever it is that I am. Somebody like off to the side, especially with this show, what's happening. Because you're replacing all of these precious people and all of their precious jobs. Because I feel like they did. Like you can do that in most apps.

I'm living La Vita Loca. Just grabbed it. Huh. Yeah, the warmer it gets, the more lonely you are. And like I'm really actively most of my effort every day goes into trying to stay to stay out of people's way. Are you talking about I I don't know who you're talking about? I just watch Okay, use your words. Like we thought it was safe, kill yourself. That's uh it like there's this um Well, this is what's kind of cool. There's nothing in this really that you have to see. Oh yeah. Now I'm recording. You're obsessed with escalators. Or, you know, confront you about it. Okay, here comes the fresh one. It is a it is a licensed, co-branded Jaws shower curtain. Jesus Christ. Because, you know, I love subtitles and I always have subtitles on.

Do you think we're done now? Somebody says to David Lynch, man, that blue velvet is a pretty crazy movie. David Lynch said it's something that makes him do very bad things. Yes. And like I loved Obsidian. Oh you practiced things. I think out of the Yeah, yeah I don't think you need to do that. I don't know why do people always eat out all the time? It's Oh, you know what it is? You know how I have projects. I don't know if you remember that. Have you heard him talk lately? Anything else? But like if you are not feeling the folk demons and the panics and the like Um and and so they were like, oh no, fuck that. I know, right? We are we work for all. This is wild. I've got a list of things I will be returning.

Not in a wholesome way. It's just interesting how that came along. You're the one who's got it all figured out. He's the guy who runs the Baskin Robbins in Ant-Man. And I've just repeated it again. And it's a lot of people. It was an easy way to like it'll have be on a scroll and you have a light shining up. Wait, what? Um but um But don't you eventually find them boring with now I am going to say boring all the time. My shirt is very tight. One thing that's neat, and on again, I got it's so I'm being so sweaty about this because like It's an old old school like 5060s style shitty Yes, absolutely. I do classical gas. You didn't know. But I really I gotta get back to pavement. Easy to navigate around.

And And I I can't shake that. I think they're being a little bit Right. It's almost always something new has come along in the world. Oh my god. Yeah, that that too. Wow. Yeah. Mazasbas. Okay, hang on. Briefly. And so when you put show notes together a quick what's wrong? No pores in this. I r recently listened to the OnlyFans episode of Flightless Bird and it was very good I did on uh CNBC. There's nobody I know that I could recommend this series to. Oh my god, my voice is And then it it became in instantly about how It's a super turnoff to me right now. Like I'm not talking about the Homo superiors. What did I say? Like VS Code. Hey every everybody look up look look waiting that's too German.

Elon Musk sounds more like this. No, no, no. And in terms of like sync stuff or just doing just like if you're talking about like on iOS, click, boom, you're doing stuff. It used to Do you get to pick which which node? Do you like it when people make observations about your life? I'm gonna act as if everything you say makes sense for a while. And um and so and you know, girls love that. And so Chris, in part, this is what got Chris Today I'm listening to Pavement. Love the voice. He's got long hair and he's kind of blonde. Greg Turkington. Because you realize I was saying this to Squidward last night that, you know, there's no 180 shots in this. We're the ones who need to adapt. I mean drafts is still like I know, I know.

Dynalyst Companion Clipper. Okay, so that's all good. That person lost the election. Hope to shout. Um copy image, I'm clicking. And and you know, there's that the the the two the two big panicky parts I think you could at least I would define as the And nature will not even notice them being what they're doing. Like take out LLM and just use the word computer What? Yeah, because um there's like um I'm calling it an inside house. Well and it and the the there that's a long clip of uh how it it's it's about Okay, okay. That seems like a pretty roundabout way. That's fine. It was so sad. Oh that's the thing that's the thing you compulsively say w instead of the fact that you're angry at people I'm saying it's really I mean so, you know That's a funny word.

Paracord is one of those things it once you're in the weirdo community, like No, no, sorry, it's your day. I do know Have you ever seen or heard the comedian Neil Hamburger, the world's worst stand-up comic? Just because you've got good grades and haven't caused problems. And uh I'm not even just Oh what is Mr. Yes. Yeah, yeah. They had a toggle that sounded a little bit like a like a funny strap on. Keep that on. And it's like it just works. Paracord. You can use it for things. I didn't know I didn't know choking got big. What's going on in your neck of the woods? I said I just agreed with you. Um Amazing Dad who's a co yeah, who's a co creator. I don't know where he finds all that time to work out.

Why are we writing about this thing now? And Capitalism diagram. Is that even possible? I'm fucking down with this shit. I would be saying it to please people, I would be saying it to impress people who don't know or care, but I would I think it uh what's what's the phrase that the gentleman in government used? And you know who doesn't like hooks is almost every woman I've ever known. That's that's the gay the gay one with the the they fight for the queen. And I don't know. I love Why? Like she's still Yeah, yeah. Oh, I'd be happy to tell you. No, no, no, just like a ball on a stick. That's a that's usually two people live in that room, unless, you know, it's that's a fair amount of room for a dorm room.

Jr. No, no. Exactly. You think we've reached the end state of this because we've made something that frustrates you because you saw Princess Mononoki once? I've seen him talk about his social media experiences. Is he a great man? But right out of the box, I I totally agree with you. Like it's really important. Yeah, that's exactly what paracord is I need to drop it, that's the word. Oh, oh, I love that. I just I I can't speak and won't speak for her, but I think she tends I mean she thought it was just Hello everyone and welcome to our new show about Maine. He looks really healthy. I did. Like SVU has been on for twenty years and they still, you know, they Almost all the time. I I would call it Apple Pay.

Yeah. That's somebody rattling. I do both. 9 out of five stars you know I got over 10,000 five star reviews Ah, hello. Those things freak me. Choking was not a a big thing as I recall uh when I was younger Who's the woman he always calls Rozebel or something? Uh oh every time I watch it it makes me want to eat popcorn. Because they didn't have dollies and steady cams? It was yeah, it was literally uh um a uh a bunch of warehouses. We feed all. That's how people talk when they don't know what's actually funny. It's so funny you should say that because Chatty G all morning has been helping me What's it called? You might also like actions for Obsidian. Nice. Well, I am obsessed with escalators. died because they refused to vaccine.

I just I'm gonna send it to you because I found how I res one. I said this is my favorite kind of non-dilemma. It gave me like several. There's no pores in this photograph. It's one of those things like rewatching any kind of show where you gotta kind of take it in chunks. I um It gives me that bookmark. And it says, everybody, open your fucking ears since you already use drafts. Moving on to America's fastest growing game show. I shouldn't love the voice. I just did it for as long as made any sense and then you started doing that thing where you just talk about what things that are in the news. I just think it's weird that And the dog, the dog, there was a cooler full of meat the duck got into.

It is the it That's all I had there. I'll just follow you. What if what's the deal with that? I'm gonna find Capitalism I found all my kid listened to a pavement song. We gotta get the laundry to the thing and we've got you know there's all these like little rallies I have to run. I mean, there's all this stuff. Yes. Um but y YAML is a way is a lightweight You're so close. Hey you know what? Like Tim Heideker on trial. Yeah. Like I wasn't out talking about hand things, I wasn't in talking about oral things and you know. Hey everybody, we should talk about Obsidian. As I said to Syracusa Oh honey. Number one, use a share extension like Obsidian Web Clipper. Uh you only eat beans from cans. Well I've seen we've seen much weirder.

I had Torkington. Oh, so Obsidian, yay And then there are things that I have to do on iOS. I do both because I have watched Oh my goodness, she's like, I know. That's very approachable. I used it to tie up my shower curtain. But that but the the the the core principle was I don't want to own stuff I can't see. And then on Michael Babaro's uh the daily uh yesterday And and terrible shit happens, but you still have to keep living and dealing with it. I fucking To have to open an app for it to sync. It's a great fucking app, Alex. And but what's nice is it also gives you a little GUI for it It says here I uh on my computer set. Do you remember this? Um, well, let me open go back to drafts. It's gross.

People have I'm quiet. It's from my pavement favorite pavement release, which is a four-song EP called Watery Domestic. And that's all the peasants. This is like the third time I've played with it. No, we'll have to do it now So I tied some paracord around that. And it's Tim Heideker and uh Greg Trickington. He's much worse. And just Go look at the YouTube channel. I wanna go somewhere I've never been before. But Obsidian is made by Dynalyst Incorporated. You get away with it. Yeah you tear you tear yourself apart about every way you could have been better. For myself, for you, for everybody. Or uh we need a better term, but like these are the things we only talk about, like that never leaves this house.

And like it's just the problem is though, it's more We'll have support for YAML inside of even a markdown document. You don't need to edit the YAML as if It's your it's your special day. I don't know how to do that on my own. I'm doing all the talking here. I should add you to the list. U The problem is I have a friend named Thomas Why don't they stay home and have a big salad I don't know anything about that. Is it I mean not like that in the past few days? Really more like a Werner Herzog movie in some way When you've got you know, it's like like like in JSON or whatever. What do you do you have a bookmark load or this clipper thing? At I haven't sent you the bell. Are you I thought that was Jonathan Miyazaki, please don't make him retire again If you like the favorite you would have seen it by now, so shut up Yeah.

Oh god, that's so shrill. Well the reason we're writing about this thing now is oh my gosh, it's it's torn from the headlines. We should probably say like why why why would you use YAML? Yeah, no, because I'm pretty sure I said that one time. To me, the way I would I'm not talking about like I was like, this is such a great infographic I could probably be fine living my whole life in notes, honestly. Have you spent a lot of time with Hunky Dory by David Belly? Like every time Elon Musk does anything, I'm like, oh honey. Actually had albums out on subpop in the nineties. I don't like People I paste it in. Brought in some headlines and now Well, my first thought when I s you know What? And if I bring in all my text files that were in there three years ago.

They're really fun. Or just speculate things about about how you are? Yeah, but what is it? Obsidian. I love stuff like that. That's not right. And surprising. There's you and Elon Musk. Be with me And they're holding up a platform of of rich people eating food. It really doesn't it doesn't save you. Most of them I think good. My voices are funny. He's so gross looking. Ooh, that's a fun New York Times game. Had you ever seen that? Well my very first thing on this entire list that I made a point of putting at the top of the document Thank you. Um but uh but anyways, Chris decided She'll just say your fake news. There's now an auto lock option for na for never. And just everything Thomas said was hilarious.

And every rabbit, she has a rabbit for every child that she miscarried. David Ferrier. Why? It's your show. Frank Booth, that guy's a nut Or is it that you want to avoid what Frank Booth has in the tank? It really is. Uh what were some real ones though? Jesus, whom I love. I just don't want I don't want pollution from a million other files that are called I mean, think about the bifurcated way you deal with all kinds of work. You know what number two is? I remember like in the early days it would be like an old Barbie and you know, um But he sounded sh he sounded shredded. No. No biohazards, actually, so I guess that includes What's going on? Why don't I add you to the list? No, you couldn't have made this twenty years ago.

Right out of the box, it works well Hang on, I'm gonna go ahead and do it. They're fun. I can't hear my voice. What else did I have for things to talk about? Phenomenal. It's like I love folding, but also Yes. What that? They weren't like fuck the looms. This week's challenge, try Obsidian again. Oh by the way my family's out of town. I just watch him do comedy What? I mean yeah, but I don't know. That that is what Well like how he mentions in an episode Oh, this is f Oh, because of USAID. That's very cool. Oh sorry, I was going into Dennis Hopper's speech from Apocalypse now. I've seen much weirder. Like it's it's from um like the PlayStation 2. Maybe a stranger comes to town. I absolutely understand that and I think it's untenable.

You are I know you're faking it. Sorry, explain like The guy who hit him, of course you are, and trains. That guy the the guy with the guitar, there's Yeah. And that to me is a huge part of what separates the I printed it out. Given what kind of interface this is, a I think I think your your incorrect birthday got sucked into my contacts. What is this, nineteen seventy eight? Yes. And if you found that what would approve, Alex? Popcorn's a big part of the show. I there's I see a red hat and I get weird. Never mind. Well like for example on my blot blog And then it shows me how to do that with CSS. This is my document. Do they have any other apps on here? Yeah. How do you do it? You yeah, you can talk about here if you want. All you people fake it. I also really dislike him personally. Uh button. You've got something calling this.
